Hey ALT....I am doing thr Weight Watchers on-line too. I get 26 points a day but then an extra 49 per week. I am already down 3.5 lbs...I really think being AF has made a HUGE difference! And besides...its nice to have something else to focus on other than being sober....I do much better when my mind is occupied otherwise my thinking gets out of hand and i just get into a funk! Good luck!

Also, anyone got helpful iPhone apps, websites or book ideas to share? Like I've said, loosely trying to follow a low GI diet. I use My Fitness Pal app to track calories and exercise (trying to stick to 1200 cals a day) and I just downloaded, but haven't yet looked at, JIllian Michaels 'Slim Down' app (free). Any other ideas?

Lily, if you walk, there is Map My Walk, or 5K Runner, which trains you over 8 wks to run a5k. Map my walk uses GPS to map your walk and distance and you can post or keep it private.Catawprint:

I wish I could help you out LiilyE...but I don't have a smartphone...that is my next purchase! I think K9 does the Jilian Michaels challenge and uses apps....so she might be helpful in that department!AB Club Member

WELL DONE Dest on your 16 days - whoot! Tonight marks a week for me. Feeling good. My first night out at a bar. First thing my friend says is 'Ooh drinks are only half price but we have to get them quick". I just said "I'm not drinking". Fortunately this is a friend who's been supportive in the past of my trying to quit so it was cool. The margaritas were fleetingly tempting I have to say but at the end of the night I felt good I hadn't and thought of how much more money I would have spent had I drunk, just for starters...
So, the Vale books says one big mistake people make is counting days. I can see what he means - in that it's not quite going 'I've quit forever. Period. That's it' But for me at this stage anyway it matters. I can't wait to get to 30 days for one. Thoughts anyone?
Cat, thanks for that. I can't run - prior knee surgery - but I wonder if it'd be good just for long walks, which I'm into. Hopefully K9 will pop in with Jilian and apps feedback
Also curious, anyone have sites other than MWO they really like? Are we supposed to post about that? I've found Spiritual River pretty inspiring in the past.
Right. Off to bed to finish Kick the Drink!

Good morning All. Or whatever time it is.Haha, I tried Zumba yesterday! LOL, I didn't have the belt you're supposed to use to hold the wii control, but I did try it. Not really my thing, but i could tell I was getting some exercise! If I hadn't stopped in 10 minutes.:H
Had my shake again for brekki. I love those things and they really do keep you from being hungry. I'm not hungry at all right now, but I would snack out of boredom if I had anything, lol. I had some bananas and strawberries that were getting old and I cut all of it up last night and put it in baggies in my freezer for my morning smoothies. It is so great because it keeps the fruit from going bad, and you wasting your $$, plus it makes the smoothie taste like a milk shake because the frozen fruit is like ice cream when it's blended. mmmmmm!
Good work FFs!!!

Not much activity in this thread...feel like I'm the only one, lol. Tried a chicken curry tonight, but after all the time I spent making it, and all the money spent on the ingredients, it turned out blah. yuck. Well, it wasn't exactly low calorie, so at least I'm not tempted to eat much.:H
Did well on my food today, lol. No real activity though, other than just walking back and forth at work. I had planned on getting outside when i got home and walking, but spent all evening on that damned dish. Haha, live and learn.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Library Girl, that's a good tip re the fruit and shakes - I like it! I'm going to try that. I'd love to hear anyone's tips and tricks. Like, I can't remember who here said the thing about a glass of water in the morning uppping your metabolism but I'm trying that because it's easy, free and can't hurt, right?
I've been doing pretty good so far! Committed myself to 45 min work out at the gym (in my apartment) 5 days a week plus as much incidental exercise as I can get in, like last night I walked 30 mins to meet a friend instead of getting the train. Couldn't quite face the walk home again though as it's just too bloody cold here! Also tracking my calories with the My Fitness First app helps me a lot.
Protein, lots of fruits and veg, low carbs, that's my goal. This weekend is going to be more challenging though as a few dinners/lunches out. Ah well. Hopefully it'll all even out.
I need motivation to keep this up so get posting friends

Lily, I use one scoop of whey protein powder (vanilla), 1 cup of coconut milk, 1 1/2 bananas and 1/2 c. of blueberries in my morning smoothie. The frozen bananas really make it delicious, and it's about 400 calories. Enough to make you feel satisfied till lunchtime. The first time I did it, I tried cutting the frozen banana in large chunks and my cheap blender didn't chop it up so well, so the next time I had the banana already cut up in the freezer and it was simple to kind of break the pieces apart and put in the blender. Worked very well. tomorrow I might throw in a few frozen strawberries. Oh, and I used vanilla flavored coconut milk and it makes it sweet enough without any added sweetener.

Well, back again. I'm burning up this thread, lol. Was down 4 lbs this a.m. Witwooooo!! Had a great day food-wise, and am on the verge of buying an Ipod shuffle, just to listen to music while I walk. It's more affordable and I have no need for a touch screen and apps, cause I have that on my phone... any suggestions, or is this a good choice? anyone?
Having a great big salad for dinner with tomatoes, cukes, carrots and avocado. Also salmon stew for the main course (a stand-by in my family since i was born).
I trust everyone is still meeting and surpassing their goals!!

Hmmmm....where do I start....I drank all of my 49 bonus points last night and then some!!!!!! I've been doing good with my eating but totally f*cked up last night so I am back on day 1.....Grrrrrrr. I feel like an a**hole and am disgusted with myself. I was so scared to post this on here but I have been brutally honest on here in the past and this f*ck up is no exception. So sorry everyone!!!!!!!!AB Club Member

LG....I make shakes too and I use a blender that you can get at WalMart for like $15.00. It's a Hamilton Beach one and it makes the shakes right in the mug so you just take it off the base and take it with you....very convenient!!!!!!AB Club Member

Ok, I'm back. I had stopped posting in this thread when I screwed up last week and drank for three days. I totally stopped tracking my WW points because I figured I had blown them out the water. Anyway, I'm back on track now on the AF front and also on the WW front.
I went to a WW meeting today, and the scales say that I'm down 1.2 pounds to 168.8. It must be a fluke, but I'll take it.
Had a fruit smoothie for breakfast with mango, unsweetened hemp milk, and protein powder. I hate to rub it in, but my blender is the daddy - a Vitamix. Cost me a fortune, but it is DA BOMB!!
I'm soooo back to losing weight and being AF!

Wellllllll, I haven't weighed since yesterday when I was down 4 lbs. Last night I had a milkshake and fries. Today I had a cheeseburger and fries. Oh hell. Weigh in is probably not going to be good.
Still, I am getting back on the train. Having some fresh peas or butter beans tonight with baked chicken. Still doing my smoothies every morning too, so I am at least getting lots of fruits! I use bananas, strawberries and blueberries in my smoothies.
Good job everyone!:goodjob:
