        Wow!
        An Army Against Alcohol. what a brilliant idea. I would have never guessed that - envisioning more espionage and shaken not stirred kind of thing.
        Well I would love to join in as I am a proud graduate of Univsity of Lancaster from three thousand years ago and would most likely be living in England now if 1. Hadn't hitched myself to Alcohol and 2. Hadn't hitched myself to alcohol and 3. Hadn't hitched myself to alcohol
        I did end up here in the Pacific Northwest which is the closest I could get my Northern English Climate.

        It is actually a bit tough to be here but maybe it's time....not following my true path all those years ago started me on my long days journey into night I'm afraid but here's to giving it a go !
        Now about mushy peas...sorry. Chips and gravy...around 11pm (or last call I forget) and lots and lots of salt...then back up to the rooms for a coffee....

        Good Times :earth::
        Thanks for inviting me !

            Yeah -- drop in anytime Kradle - usually someone around!
            My dinner smells just gorgeous - I'm so hungry I may just die. Joe had better not come in with a puss on him - gravy on the lap methinks --- very hot gravy
            :H:H:HCould ya not have a wee snack before he gets home. Just to stave off fainting from hunger....

            Can't have mushy peas as they don't have the dried peas here. We only get dried yellow split peas. Have you ever eaten them. They are really good the way they make them here. Cook them til they're soft and the liquid has evaporated til they're like thick mashed potatoes. Then let them cool and top them with EVOO, chopped pink onion, lemon juice and fresh chopped parsley. It's called "fava" and it looks like this...

            It's kind of like a salad. I make it about once a week. Lurve it!!

                It's similar Pinky, but not the same. There is nothing added to the split peas while cooking except water. And there is no bacon or seasonings involved. Just the pea puree with the toppings I mentioned, served cold. I usually make it and a salad of mixed greens as an accompaniment to fish. Yum and double yum.

                    I reckon I could buy nearly any kind of peas I want here, but I prefer field peas like we grew in our garden when I was growing up. Very, very difficult to find though. During the summer months I can sometimes find them at the Farmer's Market locally grown though. I could eat a whole plate full on top of some rice.

                    About to eat some boiled shrimp and sauteed mussels!! Mmmmmm

                      Hiya LG!!

                      We used to have field peas when I was young. (Don't ask how many years ago it was.) Our neighbour had a huge garden and always told us to go and pick peas and beans and whatever else we wanted. I'd eat both the green beans and the peas raw. They were great. I still love them. Here in Greece, they cook both beans and peas (not together) in a tomato sauce with onions, garlic, and chunks of potato. Both veggies are very tasty done that way.

                      Boiled shrimp and sauteed mussels, eh. Oh, don't get me started...:H

                          Well it seems that most of the Troopers are otherwise occupied and the barracks are empty except for me. So I am off to walk my dogger and then to read my book and to plead with the Sleep Fairy.
