Underoos - May May be a gentle month ...

    MHP,

Thank you for the pictures. Unlike G, I actually saw them. :-)

I used to live in Washington state and the dampness and cool temperatures create some incredible woodlands. I wish I could go to Tofino someday but alas, it will never happen.

I love the full fat yogurt, too. Have started making it from milk at home. Quite easy, actually. Hubby and I eat it with fruit for dessert.

    Waves to you, G. :welcome:

Off to shower and get hubby up for his surgery. Hoping all goes well with that today.

I is here ... lovely link, Happs. Just as well I saw that before I went on to read that a Japanese restaurant in Glebe does Tempura Mars Bars. ***shudder***

I've never understood tempura mars bars. That's like pineapple on pizza. Should be banned I say!

I CAN tell you that our Brynnie and Geoff served up mars bars in tempura last year when I attended their anniversary. Good thing me and Geoff were in the garage rotating the tyres on the Roller at the time.

A bonza day to all and get a dog up ya. Ooroo.

Have a beaut weekend my friend.

Trivial dribble post warning, so please feel free to move on and continue baking.

I am a bit of a fan of yer SBS French, Spanish, Italian news, oh, and the news from Malta on a sunday morning is always a treat, with those blue sky's and sundrenched villages, but dunno if anyone watches the Greek news? I tell's ya, the chicks presenting always look as if they've been on the piss hard the night before. I suppose things are pretty tough over there though.

                  Ooroo.

Hello my beautiful friends. I just had the most trying day in some time. Morning hike starts off well. Alex, a hiker that joins us from time to time had a very bad day. It was extremely hot here and we started at 8am. My friend Marshall led this one and I was the sweep (last hiker in group) as I have CPR/Med training. Alex concerned me from the start. She was stopping too often and making excuses about her boots not being adjusted correctly. I knew something was wrong. Well, at about the 5k mark she sits down on the trail (not good). I asked her some questions...no response (really not good). Finally she said she felt faint, had chills, and was nauseated. I took two salt tablets from my pack and forced (forced) her to swallow them with water. No improvement after 15 min. I decided to carry her to a shaded area. It took quite a distance to find a good spot. Wrong idea for me. It drained me completely and felt I was getting in trouble from heat exhaustion. I was forced to call the Phoenix Fire & Rescue to evacuate her. She is being kept overnight at a Scottsdale Hospital. I've always known just how risky the shit I do is. I get that, and accept the responsibilities associated with it. However, for Alex, I got to my car and wept like a baby. I just hate to see another person suffer. It was awful. Just fucking awful.

Love you all so much :l

Oh, techie, sorry to hear that. Was it heat exhaustion for her, too, or something else. Frightening.
                      Do rest up this weekend.:l

Well look, you did the right thing by calling for help.
It could be something as simple as a viral illness and she's in the right place now.
The simple fact that you all had the correct procedures in place, were organised with a plan and had a first aider is a credit to you. A lot of hikers here go off with a lot less planning.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

That must have completely rattled you. Feel good in the knowledge you did what needed to be done. She was lucky that you were around.
