Campral gives me rotgut!

I've tried pepto bismul and I am having horrible stomach problems. I know this can be a side effect with Campral, but did anyone find something offering relief?

Have you been making sure you have something in your stomach? Also, didn't you just start recently? I thought I saw on one of your post that you just started. If you have, it may take a bit to get used to it. I always take mine with food. I noticed when I take my morning pills, my stomach does feel a bit acidic if I don't put some food in there. I think that may be a common side effect with pills in general.

Yes, been eating with it. However the rot starts @ 6am way before breakfast and lasts until noon. Better than drinking though.

2 pills x 3 times per day.
The 2 pills at each meal add up to 666mg so I guess they split them so as not to scare the superstitious

I can relate to this one and I am going to be blunt. Campral is a wonderful medication BUT......when I was taking it, I had the worst gas in my life.:blush: I swear something crawled inside me and died.:H And the other side effect, well I'll just say I stopped the pills before I had to start wearing Depends at the age of 50.

I guess I was lucky as I've never had any of this side effects. Although my insides are pretty stuffed anyway from all the alcoholism

I would suggest though that on balance what is better for you? No drinking or a bit of stomach acid...

This is much better. Mines not stomach acid, mine is more like stomach virus, with the explosions.:H

Took Campral when first came out-but I do recall I had heartburn for 3 days (in the evening) due to a heavy meal. Little gas which lasted 1 week then all symptoms went away.

I've been ok on the Campral but the Naltrexone made me very nauseous in the beginning, that passed after a few days.
