    wine

Wine, its my only weakness. White, or rose is prefered, and it is just so easy to drink. Sometimes I wonder if its really not the alcohol in it, as I can have a rum with coke, and not think about five instead. But white win, I am sure Id finish the bottle, possibly open another. I wish I just enjoyed it. I guess thats how I found this site. My father drank alot when he was in his 30's but now he just has 2 glasses of red everyday. I have often asked myself if he just has a strong will power, or how does he do it. So I have tried, to do the same. Very unsucessfully. It has gotten worse lately......

The good news is, that I found this site, that I am ordering the book and cds, and that I am relieved to think there is a way to just drink socially, that I dont have to say never. Being a european, it would really be crazy if I never ever could toast with family, and as my father has told me over and over......dont ever trust someone that doesnt drink at all. I dont believe that, but dont want others to think that way about me...lol

    Well, Ive been rambling, sorry!!!

    Glad I found you guys!!!!

        Re: welcome

I tend not to drink while out socialising because I feel that people will notice how little control I have when I start. But then when I get home 2 bottles can disappear in half an hour or so.

          Re: welcome

When I first decided I didn't want to drink anymore, I went to a counselor that took me to my first AA meeting. In less than 6 months, couldn't tell you how many men asked me out....and not because of me, but because they all knew how vulnerable a newly sober woman is. It went from bad to worse in AA because of the male/female thing. This approach appeals to me and there's almost always someone in the chat room to talk to. My husband is a minister and he absolutely hates the idea of me going to AA, for the fear, etc. because, of course, "we're supposed to be perfect"......sadly.
I'm a newbie...hoping to get to the place where I can at least stop drinking long enough not to have to call in at work at least once a week...
