    Sober Julyans- Assemble!

This month is presenting some real challenges. Alcohol would appear to be a real answer to calm and slow things down. For today, I will just choose the chaos -not the firewater.

      Hi Spirit,
Glad to read of your decision to embrace chaos, no AL. Hope all is better with you. Your comment made me think of the drawing of chaos and order (wish I could find the link but if you look at the printing one way it spells chaos. If you look at it from another angle, you see order). Just a thought.

The other day, we had plans for a full day of activities. But, as we were leaving the mountains where we had camped by ourselves under a near full moon, we were stopped by a downed tree. Too large for us to move/tow with car and we didn't have a saw/hatchet/ax. Fortunately, we had water and several days worth of food. If necessary, we could make a long hike to a high ridge and call for assistance. But we decided to enjoy the moment by reading and taking a gentle stroll. Two hours later a fellow adventurer happened up this road and he had a saw. A good reminder that schedules are good, but flexibility better.

        Sober Julyans- Assemble!

        Greetings Julyans,
I am glad to report that I have had a couple of days with no pain, the difference this has made has been unbelievable!! I even had a night out partying which was great!!
Free at Last Your trip sounds so exciting and very spiritual too.... I am trying to be flexible in my thoughts and finding it challenging but liberating when I can do it.

I hope the next few days of July are less stressful for you.

Several people on MWO have mentioned yoga to me. At the moment any movement involving my trunk and left arm is difficult but in time this will get better. I have physiotherapy exercises to do and am doing them I can see a slight improvement already. When I have a bit more range I will definitely try yoga, think it would give me a great sense of achievement.

          Sober Julyans- Assemble!

Hi everyone, checking in after a busy week of working which kept me away from MWO a bit. Still sober and doing well... Shout outs to Spirit, Free, SFX, Pav, and DD, and anyone on here I missed. Like some of you, July is challenging for me but I have to remind myself that I've chosen sobriety this month and I'm sticking to it. Embrace the chaos, not the booze.

          Much love, all.

I've been out of town, too, but sober and actually quite happy about it. Half way through July - hope everyone is well.

Quick check in with everyone. Just finished our "practice backpack" a three day (16 mile trip) to make certain the tent, stove, other gear was working properly. Really learning to embrace the moment -- like the 30+ minutes we spent huddled under a ground cloth waiting for the electrical storm to pass before crossing a wide open meadow at 11,000 feet. Came up with a long gratitude list while shivering. Today's moment to embrace was learning that our credit card had $1000 worth of charges we didn't make. Still AF month for me.

Free- glad to hear about how you're embracing the tough moments. I just posted over in the gratitude thread about just that. The tough moments are often the most important and valuable! Glad you're doing well and AF on such a cool trip. I want to do that myself, someday-- you're inspiring.

Wishing everyone the best, today! We're more than halfway through July, people. Stay the course

I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.

Is there a particular day that you choose to celebrate 12mo alcohol free?

                      Sober Julyans- Assemble!

Today, July 19, 2014 -Saturday. It is now time to go to another movie tonight. Sober, somewhat content, not angry, lonely, or tired. Just another Saturday night in July. The great thing about tonight is that I get to spend it with my BFF. The distracting part about tonight is that I feel off-balance with myself -my life, my finances, my etc. Perhaps I will finally choose to view tonight as a night -as a time in a particular moment, to just be.

If I am able to live this evening - just for this evening and nothing more or less, then perhaps I will be more open to receiving unknown experiences that will benefit me further down the road. Who knows?

Well, what the hell, I am just an ole country boy alcoholic crawling down the road of July one more time.

                      Peace to All.

Hi Spirit, hope you are finding your balance and ability to be in the present.

Reporting in still AF for July. We depart tomorrow for the big walk. May be some time before I am back on internet. Thanks to all for your well wishes and support.

Wow, I am glad that is not near as hot this year (here in the South) as it was last year. Things are so much calmer without alcohol and maybe that helps make it feel cooler and smoother.

                          Anyone heard from Skull?

I hope all of you are doing well and peaceful.
