Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

Overcast and cool this morning, the remains of tropical storm Harvey will be moving in tomorrow, expecting 2-4 inches of rain, thankfully nothing like the poor souls in Houston. In 2008 Ike moved through with winds at 80-90 miles/hour. Knocked down trees, tore roofs off, and the power was out for 4 days. Winds will only be about 30-40mph this time. He'll be through by Saturday morning.
Sorry Empy, I know nothing about the meds you speak of, never have used anything but AL. I should probably be on Lipitor, but refuse.
Looking for 24 more here for me and all my friends.

In a bit of a rush this morning, have to go backfill those plumbing trenches I did now that they've passed inspection! I'll read back and catch up once I'm on the combine. Let's keep it between the lines today eh!

Re: ~cattleman cafe~ & another 24...

Mr Vervill, I remember so well Hurricane Ike. It hit our area hard and got slightly above zero coverage in the media. I remember feeling slighted by that! Especially since we had no power for a week and others in our went without it even longer than that! So many roofs damaged and trees down. But to the media it seemed like it never happened, except for local outlets.

empyr3al, I have no knowledge about gabapentin other than my own experience. It has worked for me at 300mg for nerve pain and it has improved my quality of sleep, but if my doc had asked me to go beyond 300mg, I would not have taken it. I specifically asked her if it would be a problem to go off of it and if I would have to taper. She said that wouldn't be an issue at 300mg, so I gave it a try. I was on an anti depressant years ago that required tapering and I had great difficulty getting off that med. It was Lexapro. My best suggestion is for you to do what you are doing. Be honest with your doc about all the things you are taking and do research on new meds when prescribed. I wish I had more to offer!

24 more for all of us, please.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

So pharma says 300/day for a week on a schedule, move to 600, then 900. That seems like maintenance and not the initial days. The bottle is huge! I've never had a pill bottle this large. 180*300 for a month. Anyone used this with AWS as my specialist was more secure with me using it than valium doing home detoxing (yeah it happens fast for me, like 2 days and not like a hang over, I'm right back kindled where I began). So what doses do you take yourself down right away and then take yourself down at. Its taken 40, 26, 12, 8, 4, nearly normal oz for 24 or more. Then I get cleaning up this mess I made. Getting the sweats for the first time in months of doing this. I had a fit per say (lapse) so anyone with experience replacing this instead of valium for AWS? Should I hit it hard or take my time when the symptoms hit? Whats its lag time?
No idea about Gabapentin but valium is the best thing to have as backup for an alcoholic as far as im concerned .Ill never forget the fear alcohol withdrawal can make you feel.

Just found a reference to gabapentin here Practical Protocol for Prescribing Baclofen in Alcohol Addiction – Baclofen Treatment for Alcoholism

empyr3al - not sure what AWS is? I don't take AD's they don't work for me and coming off them was awful.

@ Mr Vervil - when you have time, will you please elaborate on why you refuse Lipitor?

Hope ya all have a good AF day.

AWS Means Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms. Shakes, sweats, dt's, hallucinations, restlessness, easily frustrated, anxiety, siezure in some cases, in ability to concentrate, obsessive things, the list goes on. Mirrors a lot of withdrawal from other drugs but AWS is sometimes deadly.

Good luck on 24. Me too

The winds of Harvey have started, but not yet with the rain, it will come, though.
dill looks like you'll be spared from most of the rain, probably just an inch or less for you, what a difference a few miles makes. Still looks like 2-4 inches of rain for us. Wildflowers I'm mostly a stubborn old coot who doesn't want to be on any meds. Lipitor can also cause muscle problems, and I saw that with my father in law after he went on it. I also believe ( perhaps wrongly) that cholesterol levels are not the best indicator of heart attacks or major cardiac problems. I've known personally, several fit, healthy, active people with low levels who have had heart attacks. What they had in common was huge amounts of stress in their lives, type A personalities. High cortisol. My mom's cholesterol levels have been over 400 most of her adult life, and she is now 89, and very active. I may be dead wrong too. Pun intended.
I try to eat right and stay active to keep things in control. empyr3al, you might want to consult with a pharmacist as well as your Doc, as they know WAY more about how drugs interact. Most Docs really only know the basics.
24 more for me and my friends, please!
