I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

30F and sunny. A winter storm coming tomorrow, forecasters still not sure how much snow, but reports have down graded to 3-6 inches. But, it may just be rain. Maybe by the time it arrives they can look out the window, and tell us, lol!
Ori, I bet Prof Dunsby's face was as red as the planet, lol.
I live in a large city, (2.8 Million in the statistical area), just 3 miles from the urban core. But we are attached to a green belt, and there is a lot of wildlife here, Deer, coyote, foxes, rabbits, possoms, birds, geese, and a gazillion squirrels, due to all the old oak trees around. (Not to mention the human kind). I see deer in my yard often!
I love where I live, everything I need is within walking distance. When my wife wasn't working full time a few years back she could go weeks without using a car.
24 more please!

It’s just below freezing, but we’ve got a good ole blizzard blowing out there! Thinking I might just stay home and only go out if I get an emergency call-out. I remember when I used to look forward to these days, get Bubba off to work, then pour a shot of spiced rum in my coffee because beer just doesn’t taste good early in the morning during winter lol. But I’d be careful not to drink too much before noon, as I’d get soup and sandwiches ready for Bubba when she came home for dinner. But when she went back to work, look out, it was full steam ahead for an afternoon of drinking and porn! Thankfully those days are over and I can find other worthwhile things to do when storm-stayed like laundry, vacuum, wash the floor, play with Hank, etc.

I was reading Jude’s post and I got to thinking how drinking became the most important thing in my life, and it really was. I forsake all others and didn’t really care about the life that was going on around me! They claim that you have to be a bit selfish when you’re trying to get and stay sober because it’s all about you, what you have to do to find lasting sobriety. That might be true, but I think I was way more selfish when I was drinking, because it was all about me and Budweiser, nothing else mattered! Now that was being selfish!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

Amen to that, Cowboy! Our thinking was so distorted back then that we just couldn't see how selfish we were. At least in recovery, we know when we are being selfish, but we also know why! Drinking, towards the end, actually took every bit as much effort as getting sober does tho. And there is no joy in it at that point. There are definitely moments of joy and gratitude in recovery.

Mr Vervill, did I ever mention to you that I once lived in your part of the world? I spent one year after college living and working their. Loved that city, and still do!

Don’t forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Yes, unfortunately that’s what I said Jude. Thankfully that went out the window with the booze!

Another 24 hours please & thank you.

A beautiful sunny day and mild at 8C or 46F. So yesterday we finally had the accumulation of packed snow and ice removed and what do you suppose happened? Yup, 10cms of snow and it started before the removal of the old stuff was complete! Hopefully this never ending winter ends soon!

In honour of receiving my first old age security cheque, I’m treating the family to brunch on Sunday at a fancy restaurant. Can’t think of a better use of the money!!

it's 11:30am here and I'm also trying to decide whether or not I'll go out or spend the day at home. I was at the gym early and that may have been enough..
whatever I decide, alcohol won't be involved.. here's to 24 more af hours..
sounds like a nice time, QW.. love a fancy restaurant now and then!

22 degrees, partly cloudy and calm here in N.Y. It's supposed to warm up into the 40's this coming week, and I'm so looking forward to it. My sister who is in Florida at the moment, was complaining on FB that it was only 67 degrees out. Man, I'd be running around in shorts and a T-shirt in that kind of weather! :happy2:

Asking for another 24 please, and hope that you all have a fabulous Saturday!

Nope. I went to Miami U. :sohappy: Back in the Redskins era. My oldest bro did tho. I shan't say the name of the college in the interest of your anonymity, unless you would like me to. But it was a Jesuit college so that's probably all I need to say and you'll get the picture! :happy2:

I stepped out on my deck at dawn to get a feel for the day. I often think of you, Jude58 when I do that! Anyway, the day had a good feel to it! :happy2: Plenty of birds proclaiming spring is here in spite of the cold. A flock of geese were honking nearby. A semi horn honked off in the distance as if to answer them!

It will be nice to spend the rest of this day af. 24 more, please and thank you.
