It's a worry - I've heard too many horrible kennel stories. She well socialised but still really a puppy

I used to dump the kids on anyone who'd take them :haha: ( but they could talk and tell what was up .....
Satz, I have used House my dog. We were in Kerry one year and had them in cottage with us but were joining walking group and doing Carrauntoohill so could not bring with us to B&B in Killarney and too far to drive home. Basically you register with them, they put you in contact with someone in the area or a few and they look after them in own home. My two would not have coped with normal kennels. The lady in Kerry was lovely and I found one locally here who also takes them. I deal directly with the lady here now so hope they are still in operation. Worth a look though.

Hope the Mammograb goes quickly and easily, Rustop.
I hate being away from my dog too, Satz. I get stressed. Rosie is such a cutie, I know you'll worry about her.
Today was a perfect Spring day. Just magical. SOunds a lot like Stirly's weather actually. Can you believe the girls I work with wanted to go and have a drink at lunchtime? They asked me why I was on the coffee and I was a bit sick of being asked so I snapped 'because it tastes like Sh*t'. And it does.

Missed your quesiton about my cousin yesterday, Mary and to be honest, no I don't think she'll ever come right. I trully don't know what is going to happen to her. Like you, a lot of people around us both are giving substances a miss altogether. I really don't think it will stop her though.
Ephesus is the most amazing place. I loved my time in Turkey, Molly. Enjoy it.

JC I travel light. Old habit. My mother used ot joke that I turned my undies inside out but I didn't.....

I'm off to snooze.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Evening,
rustop59............hope it was quick and thorough.........did they utter the phrase 'this may be a bit uncomfortable'? You know, I think our Jenny has the same doggy care in York for Buddy. Her dogwalker takes him if they're away over night. He sulks when he comes home.
mollyka........our decorator's Turkish and his brother has a few holiday flats over there. I'm keeping him on side for a cheap deal. He's getting free legal advice form Mr JC over his impending divorce, I think we'll work something out

I can travel light if its Ryanair............do you remember when I had to put those posh wellies in my carry on, satz123 passed on to me. I even managed to shove them in.
Me flying Ryanair.

Bess back from the vets with her xanax and 6 months supply of her joint pain meds. We'll be living of scraps from next door's bin and Pot Noodles for the rest of the year ...............the cost of vet fees. :egad:

Sorry, missed my checkin yesterday, I was shattered..
Yep Molls, took August off, it was brilliant, but all good things come to an end.
Its grand Rustop, I do like my job, but its a juggle with the kids back to school, sports + clubs, plus Im training 4 times a week until the end of oct. I need a wife.
Not a teacher Bridge, work in IT, or puters as Molly calls it :haha:

Youve been around Bridge, how much travelling did you do? I did some exploring down under for a couple of years too. Loved it. Probably accelerated my Al obsession, all that cheap wine (its important to blame something:happy2. I had to become sneaky about it then when I got home and I was still in my 20s..

Great idea that House my dog.. makes so much sense. Like Airbnb for dogs!

Vets fees JC, I was shocked when the cat smashed his hip! might have to think about pet insurance..
Brexit saga is getting nuttier!

Afternoon All.

I'm really struggling with energy today. Might be pushing the after work activities a bit much so better have a think about that. Rome wasn't built in a day, or so they tell me.
It always makes me feel so much better to check in here though. It really is a safe place, isn't it? I find it energising here too.
So you are part if the IT Crowd, Mary? There's no avoiding it these days anyway. We've all got to be reasonable at it. I did get around a bit back in the day when I was footloose and fancy free. These days I'd have to up the budget a fair bit. Youth hostels and pensions are not going to happen next time I go.

Our little pets are worth all the trouble and expense as far as I'm concerned. I can't wait to get home and see my girl every day.

My cousin is in big bloody trouble, Molly. Just like I was. That will be both of her kids not talking to her now. It's horrible. She has a definite arrogant streak and a well developed ability to fool herself with her own stories. If you ask me, both of those traits make it hard for people to recover, which is such a stripped back and humbling experience. Like me, she has had so many warnings and signs and embarrassments, incidents, injuries. I know we all do it in our own time or not at all. Not sure how it's going to go for her. She reckons her liver values are normal for example but she's had hepatitis and has been a heavy drinker since her teen years - now almost 60. How can that be? She no longer has me or other friends and relatives to minimise this for her because we've all seen the light. No drinking buddies either....

Anyway, better get back to work.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Course she'll say her liver is normal...just like her behaviour and yup the biggest enemy to getting and staying sober is pride (read arrogance) that's what I learnt in Aiseiri and that's what I forgot in the last few years...humility without being pathetic...fine balance.

Morning,
Dogs first. We paid pet insurance for Bess until she was 8 years old then it was around a tenner a month. She got to about eight years old and it shot up to £78. At the time we just didn't have that kind of money but started putting £60 a month in a bank account for her. She's been as fit as a flea and luckily our vet offers an interest free loans. Luckily nothing has gone hideously wrong so she's richer than us.

Oh the liver thing. Have a look-see at this...........Alcohol's Effects on the Body | National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)
Add all the painkillers that we took to get rid of hangovers and we're doomed.
Younger people are cottoning on to self care and there's been a significant reduction in the 16-25 year olds. They're taking to the gym and self care.

I take away from the 'rooms' a sense of gratitude and peace. Still, haven't got the hang of serenity..........I blame Brexit

I don't have to wait for any builders, painters, parcels so I've slapped some make-up on, dust-free clothes and going to get my nails done, buy a big cardi , couple of celebrity magazines and some custard slices from M&S..........I'm free.

HAHA! Laughed Out loud ( literally) re. Brexit remark....brilliant:applouse:t

The difference with your Bess and her Harry is that Bess is yours half a lifetime...would prolly do the same for her as you would one of your kids - Harry was still tagged from the rescue place - they only had him a few days when he got somethin...off to vet and meds will cost 100's a month and vet visit every month as well and he sheds and smells regardless of hygiene...she's always had dogs so don't imagine she's not checked everything - reckon ida given my kids back with all that going on!!!!I
Enjoy your day off - you know what I'm like with workmen in the house....thankfully can't afford them anymore:hahaha::hahaha:

Afternoon all. Just in from getting my hair done. Glad to have the mammograb over. Enjoy your day JC, sounds lovely. Am sure you are enjoying Turkey Molly, sounds lovely. Have never been, maybe some day.

Stopped paying pet insurance as they would not cover rescue getting her teeth done, only if she had been in an accident. Recouping university fees now, daughter is doing the necessary for me, only pay for the meds. Nice to have some pay back. Rescues can come with a lot of problems. Need to get some food, back later.

Tbh there's been times I prefer Bess to the kids. She's never texted from France that's she's lost her skiing jacket and can she 'borrow' 50 yoyos for a new one.
rustop59...........its odd that Bess has got perfect teeth, not like Dylan the Magnificent who was always getting his done. We're missing several arms and legs paying for that.
stirly-girly.........meant to say the other day........please send my congrats to your friend on his 11 years.:applouse:

Our painter and decorator is the first work-person (ooh look how politically correct I've gone) that I tick along nicely with.
When we had the bathroom done I suddenly had the weakest bladder know to humankind. I was using next doors facilities and he got so fed up of me hopping on one leg ringing the door bell that he just left his front door on the latch.
We're saving for a downstairs toilet.

My tired is tired.
byebyebridgetjones...........apologies as Gardeners World is on tonight. Trouble is living up North we're a month behind the rest of the country for most stuff in the garden. Its cold oop here. My sunflowers and sweetpeas are finally flowering.

Jenny's birthday this weekend. Asked if she wanted a cake as she's 33 (when did that happen its just 10 minutes since I was pregnant)......yes with candles (one that plays a tune), a party tea and shepherds pie. I'll have to see if there's any shepherds in the freezer.

We knocked the big cupboard out at the bottom the stairs........a few weeks later I thought that'll make decent room for the stairlift.
