Worked for my sister-in-law with cigarettes.
Yes could work and the world may have changed a lot by then. Who could have predicted vaping.

Might be able to grow a new liver in your back garden by then. 😀

Great news, Kev. Why don't you join us on the Sober Sunday Shout Out thread? It's really fun to post every week and see the number of sober days getting bigger and bigger. Well done on 22 days (maybe 23, today)!!

Yes 22 days because I got drunk on Saturday the 5th so that was a drinking day. Don't think I sobered up till well after 3pm on Sunday 6th.

OK I will join that next Sunday. Thanks

I suppose stranger things have happened. Congratulations on your booze free time. That's a huge achievement mate.

Thankyou.
Would you believe my parents bought me a huge box of beers that was heavy. I will gift it away next year.

I manged to sit through Xmas just drinking non alcoholic lagar most of the time. Glad it's over and can now increase the non drinking time.

This quit certainly feels different to previous ones.

My liver must be healing itself every day. 😊

Good work on getting through Christmas and yes, get rid of the beer as soon as possible so that there is no temptation at home.

Glad to hear that this quit feels different, Kev. You know, when I quit, I was just so relieved to not be thinking all day about when I could start drinking in the evening and if I had enough AL in the house to get me through and what store I should buy my booze from. It was like being freed from a huge burden. Hope you feel the same. There is so much more to life than drinking. Keep up the good work.

Yes much more to life and I no hangovers anymore. I used to wake up and drink a bottle of fizzy juice and get out to the nearest burger king to get me through the hangover while trying not to be sick. Take 2 ibruprofine and try and to get an ice pack on my head. I even sat in my shower so as to make myself feel better.

Glad I don't have to do that anymore. :-)

Yes stirly-girly. Just re-read that and realised - yes - the amount of time we spent drinking, thinking about drinking, thinking about buying drink.
It's only when you sit back and think about it. It is a ridiculous waste of time.
All we wanted from alcohol was to feel a bit better about ourselves & life in general.
Alcohol provided this distraction - until it didn't. Until we needed it to just feel normal never mind happier.

Still going strong for now but kind of 50% itching to go to a bar again.

All bars shut but summer beer gardens will be on the way.

Don't recommend thinking that way scots, that means deep in your thoughts there is still value in alcohol. When there is still value in alcohol the bastard voice will takeover at your weakest. I think the Big Book of AA references something about the drinking voice doing pushups in the parking lot while someone is in a meeting waiting for the most vulnerable time to pounce and take control. If we want alcohol out for good we need to find a way to not want it any longer in any capacity.
2023 - focus, getting it done, and living the way it should be and being the person I need to be.
