    anyone take supplements?

    We Do!

My husband and I strongly believe in supplements and have taken many over time. We ordered the supplements package through my way out web page and have found it to be very helpful. Only thing I really didn't like the taste of the All In One powder. So, I have been taking Source Of Life vitamins which you can find in most health food stores. It is a little pricey but it has everything in that you could ask for. We love it! My energy level is way up. Yes, Jay42 is right about omega-3s. We take omega-3s and Osteo bi-flex everyday to help with joint pain for my husband and to help me against arthritis. As for the omega-3 we take that because Omega-3 fatty acids benefit the heart of healthy people, and those at high risk of ? or who have ? cardiovascular disease. My husband who is only 33 has already had two heart attacks. Too much stress and drinking!!! Well, we also believe it has happened twice because both times he had a bad cold/flu he was taking DayQuil during the day and NyQuil at night. Well those meds are packed with Acetaminophen/Doxylamine/Pseudoephedrine and may cause heart disturbances, such as abnormal heart rhythm, palpitations, increased heart rate, and increased blood pressure. So, please read those warning labels and if you are at high risk PLEASE do not take them! A new product that we are really excited about is Mona Vie. It is a health drink that is made up 19 fruits and many of them you may never have heard of because they are exotic fruits that we cannot get at the grocery store. They puree the hole fruit so you get flesh, skin, and seed so the full complement of nutrients can be captured. The most important fruit is the Acai berry. which is only found in the Amazon Rainforest of South America. You only need to drink two ounces in the morning and two at night. I am going to stop now but I can't say enough positive things about this product. We feel great and I believe it has help with my wine cravings since it has natural sugar in it and whenever I get a craving I just have a sip of it and it helps me out. Hopes this info helps someone. hbhb

My real question is does anyone out there do L-Tryptophan with Lexapro???? I tried to give up the Lexapro, but I have been depressed my entire life...even as a child according to my parents, and I couldn't do it!!! Felt much better getting it back into my system, but today I read that L-tryptophan cannot be taken with Lexapro and I can't sleep if I don't drink........ADVICE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! LOVE, Myohmy

I've on about 108 days Abs and am still trying to take the All One. It seems to be a great overall supplement and it motivates me to make a fruit smoothie for breakfast..when I'm doing that, I'm feeling good and helping start the day with a light and energizing breakfast of fresh fruit, a little ice and water and my All One..I'm set for the day and more likely to eat well and take care of myself for the rest of the day.

My best advice is talk to your doctor or a pharmacist about alternatives to L-trytophan. I used to be on Lexapro. It work for like a month and then I was in my hole once again. I've change meds and after a few months of tweaking dosages and dosage times I'm finally feeling some results. I think cutting back on the alcohol and being AF for the past 7-8 days has helped me out a lot.

As far as supplements, I take Salmon Oil, milk thistle, evening primrose, a multi Vit high in B-vitamins, garlic oil, and on occasion Emergen-C (full of vitamin C, B- vitamins, Magnesium, zinc). I also try to eat tuna of salmon a few times a week and have worked more veggies and fruits in my diet and am trying to cut sugar and refined carbs in exchange for whole grains and whole wheat. I drink soy milk and have that in my oatmeal. I do still eat cheese. That's one thing I can't give up. Oh yeah, and red meat.

            That's my routine these days.

              Hi everyone,

Well done accountable, your old story is mine at the moment. Camped out on the sofa and drinking and puffing away (I can't stand to smoke when I'm not drinking!). I joined this community just before christmas and managed to moderate really well with Kudzu and just reading the posts and heading all the advise here.

Slipped back recently though, and a near miss with the A & E dept a couple of days ago prompted me to go to the docs and I have an appointment with an alcohol specialist this week. I have had liver and renal tests and in a weird way I hope the news is a little scary as that will hopefully make me realise what I'm doing to myself.

I have been reading some research about GABA and L-Glutamine and was wondering if this has been successful for anyone else. I am particularly interested in anyone with supps advise in the UK as brands seem to vary considerably country to country.

Anyone love and good luck to all here:thanks:

              Kitty

                    anyone take supplements?

                    I am taking:

Bcomplex and also take B1, B6 abd B9 separately
                    Magnesium
                    Selenium
                    Zinc
                    Copper
                    Iron
                    Vit C
                    Coral Calcium
                    Gaba
                    Lglut
                    Kudzu
                    Collidial Silver
                    Grape seed extract.
                    Milk Thistle
                    Lcarnatine
                    Taurine
                    Evening Primrose Oil
                    Fish Oil
                    PS
                    Blue green algae
Mushroom extract ( a blend of Shiitake and Maitake from Nature's way)

Somedays I just take a solgar multivitamin instead of all this stuff.

Most of this stuff I get from Vitacost.com but I do like the Gaba from MWO. I also like the True Calm which also has Gaba in it, mixed with Taurine and Valerian. I take the Gaba in the morning and the True Calm in the afternoon. And of course the Kudzu from MWO is really good. I will probably be ordering those 3 items from MWO again. Everything else I get from vitacost because I cost is an issue for me.

(I was taking tyrosine for awhile but it didn't agree with me so I stopped taking it, maybe it was just me though.)

It seems to be helping with the moderating. I don't have time to drink much after taking all this stuff:H

                      anyone take supplements?

                      I take a fish oil for omega3, a powdered super-dose of C and the B-complex, a calcium pill, and...

JuicePlus, which is supposedly "whole foods" reduced down to a little powdery capsule. Red is fruit, green is vegs, purple is berries. OKAY, y'all, don't everybody blast me with what a pyramid snake-oil scam it is, and how questionable the research is about its supposed anti-oxidant benefits, blah blah...I know it's probably $90 poured right down the spout every month.

So why do I pop 'em faithfully? (*Eye roll here*) Because my brother's wife is a distributor, and she cornered me one Christmas when I'd had a few too many glasses of wine (gee, wonder which Christmas that was...?) and I signed on. If I canceled my standing order she'd have about nine apoplectic seizures and bombard me some more with her cheerleadery sales pitch. So much easier to just take 'em...and who knows, maybe there's some truth to the claims.

I take Kudzu which really works wonders. Also omega 3 & 6 fish oil caps, Liv.52 for my liver (supposed to be better than milkthistle) and occasionally a multivitamin. Also some fat burners that are probably beyond the scope of this thread or maybe even this forum.

I think a clean diet is the most important thing of all though, and working out is always good. "Clean diet" for me of course starts with being AF....

Going to start I know that much. Working on paying down on the credit card. Right now I take Floradix Iron & Herbs, C&E combination softgels and Super Rhodiola Rosea. Really need to keep this sobriety thing going. Rusty on my supps, I need more I know.
