OMG HC!! I LOVE your new avatar!! I had to stifle a loud laugh since I'm at work!!
Sunni-that was a great piccy-I'm so impressed by people who are comfortable around horses and can ride. They are such amazing creatures but being up close and personal with them terrifies me and I don't know why.

Fennel-I hope you're going somewhere cool and fun!!

MB-sounds like you're making progress and that the Bac is really helping. Way to go!! :goodjob:

Nora-you're sounding very upbeat today-it's a lovely sound!! Hope you will do something you enjoy like your counselor suggested.

Molly-I've woken up with a headache 2 days in a row now and I NEVER get them. Full moon effect maybe??

Hey Neva-get back on the horse and put on a velcro suit. You can do this if you really want to!!

Gotta get back to work now fellow nestlings. Have a great day!!

            Morning felllow nesters.

My day off aaaahhhhhhh lovely. Going to the gym (provided my shoulder holds up) then off to get my hair cut and some foils.

I need some advice. How do I tell my husband he needs to slow down on his drinking without me being a hypocrite? I know I would never have listened to anyone tell me this so I have to word it so that he will listen. I know it is not up to me to tell him he has a problem, but I need to tell him how it affects me and my sobriety. I can usually tolerate the obnoxious argumentative person he becomes but I have had enough lately. He hasnt changed his drinking habits, I think it is my tolerance that has changed. When he drinks with one particular person, they argue and debate alot so he comes home with that attitude.
I feel like I am putting myself before him, making me more important, like my sobriety is more important than his socialising. I suppose that is the problem for me, I have always put everyone before me and now it is becoming an issue.
Anyway any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Just imagine if I was to tell you to slow down on your drinking and give me your opinion.

            Thanks for your help nesters.

            Hippy

                Good evening Nestlings!

Back in one piece... Pah! A mammogram is nothing. I was all worried and expecting excruciating pain and whatnot.. pfffhhh. It's a little uncomfortable but that's about it.

However, the rest of the day did not quite go as expected. First, I wrote down Mr. Wonderful's cell phone # (wrong) and was 1. a little miffed that I couldn't get a hold of him to come pick me up (since I was at the hospital a total of 15 minutes) and 2. started to get worried that something might have happened. Instead, it turned out to be just one of my blond episodes, I'm afraid :H. Anyhow, I ended up hanging around there waiting for him for over an hour.

Then we were supposed to go on a road trip to look at tractors for sale... we had 4 on the list (in a 4 hour radius - here, you don't describe distance in km or miles... just time). However, there was a TON of construction, lots of stop and little go and the Ferrari started sounding not good at all. Where we were headed, we would have been 100 miles from nowhere if something serious had gone wrong - so we ended up turning around.

We did stop by my daughter's house, though and visited with the grand peanut (ya know, got hairs pulled, got burped on, changed a diaper.. the fun stuff). So, that was my day.

Hipster.. how about something like this: "Honey, I know that it is MY habit that has changed and I find myself much more conscious and sensitive to being around people when they drink. I hope you won't take it personal or be upset when I distance myself on the evenings that you've had a few..." The idea is to NOT ASK him to change anything but let him know that YOU will change your behavior. Now it is entirely up to him to decide whether he would rather have you close or drink with his buddies? Just a thought. And, btw.. you would #1 have to follow through and #2 probably would have to give him some time (not expect immediate change).

Nora, you sound so much better! I'm so glad!
Molly... are you drinking enough water? (#1 cause for head aches is dehydration)
MamaBear, you also sound MUCH better! I'm very happy the Bac is working for you!
Papmom, I have an absolutely fantastic coach who has put the fun back into riding for me over the past few months. I had a pretty nasty riding accident in 2006 and have since had huge fear issues. To slowly overcome that hasn't been easy.
Fennel - thank you! Yes, he is a beautiful boy (although I'm really not a paint fan at all). He is VERY gentle and quiet, even though he's just a 'youngen' (7 this year). And, I will definitely keep my eyes open for roadk... PROTEIN!

Hello Eva, Coco, Pride, and anyone else to fly in late. The nest night light is on and this novel is DUN! :H

Night night and sleep tight everyone!

Hi Everyone!! Let me tell you about MY nite!! Grab a sandwich LOL!!
so I get home about 6pm and LM (aka Guinness) is not at the window barking his fool head off as usual when I come home. I know right away that something isn't right. Rush in and I find him on the bed surrounded by empty small bags of Trader Joe's almond snack packs. At least 3 are empty and 3 more are half empty. Between the 3 dogs they've had over 100 raw almonds and I'm guessing LM had most of them because he is a canine garbage disposal and VERY posessive of his finds. I'm a little concerned but decide to wait and see for a while. We head outside and I put on the hose for Devil Dog and relax with a magazine. When I've finished we head inside and I start making zucchini bread with the 5 lbder I picked this morning. LM doesn't seem any worse for wear but while the bread is baking I decide to google almonds and poisoning and get freaked out when one site said they were deadly. I call my vet who's still open even tho it's now 8pm. They refer me to Home Again poison hotline (free for members which we are) and they take a complete history. Then they tell me I need to make him vomit as they are concerned not about toxicity (almonds aren't poisonous) but the amount he may have ingested which was quite alot compared to how big he is (10 lbs) and they want to get as much up as possible. I give the treatment and now we have to walk around in circles outside for 15 min. If he doesn't vomit, I have to repeat. he doesn't get sick, I try to repeat the peroxide dose but he wants nothing to do with it. I try to force feed it to him but he spits it out. I then give him one more tsp and hold his mouth shut. We continue walking in circles. He's not happy, I'm getting eaten alive and we're both getting very tired. After 20 more minutes we go in and I call them back. They want me to give him one more tsp and mix it with milk. He won't touch it. I try pumpkin. Nope. Cat food. Nope. Ice Cream. Nope. Finally I syringe the damn stuff into him and continue walking him around the kitchen island for 30 more minutes. I look down and the cat is walking with us, around and around!! Funniest thing I've seen in a long time!! I call them back-it's almost 10pm by now- and they say to give it up. It's now 10:30, all I've had to eat is one ice cream sandwich and a bagel with butter. Had all these plans for a nice healthy pork chop and home grown zucchini dinner.
All the dogs are fasting tonite and are out cold. I still have to feed the cats. Oh yes, the cats. How did LM get the almonds in the first place? The Cat did it!! Somehow he got into the cabinet over the counter, up onto the second shelf and knocked the whole big bag off onto the floor where LM promptly dragged it onto my bed and had a feast.
So that's been my nite and I will say that despite it all, I am thrilled to be sober and able to do whatever I needed to to help my baby boy.
                  Have a great nite all!!

                            Ok - seriously now

Pam - Thank goodness that everything is ok. How scary that is. Isn't it just amazing what the animals can get into? I'm so glad that he is ok. Now, if you can finally relax. :l

Sunni - Sorry about your ordeal today too. At least you got to see peanut though. That makes things worthwhile. Glad that you mentioned that about the water to Molly. I've had a headache for a week. I'm going to try guzzling water tomorrow and see if that helps. I would start right now but don't want to have to move my bed into the bathroom.

Molly - How about it? Want to guzzle some water with me tomorrow?

Hippy - I wish that I had words of wisdom for you. I know that it seems like whatever my hubby says about my drinking, it is the wrong thing. He just doesn't stand a chance. I feel like he doesn't understand my struggle and is so bossy. So, I do think that Sunni's suggestion is a very good one. You're not commenting on his drinking or asking him to change. You are changing your behavior and it will probably sink in that he needs to change. If that makes sense.

Mama - Glad you are doing ok on the Bac. I'm doing better than I was. The depression is much better. That means the drinking is much better. Really had cravings tonight but took the kids to Chuck E Cheese instead. What a place. No wonder I have a headache. :H

To all our other Nesters - old & new......have a wonderful day/night wherever you may be.

No shootings but I did see the nice gang members that had their families there for the evening.

Nora/Fennel - can you explain for us non-USA types what the hell Chuck E Cheese is? Sounds dreadful whatever it is.....

Thanks Sunny. I think that is a good idea. I do tend to remove myself from him when he is drinking lots but I havent actually told him I am doing that. He might get the idea then because I know if something is not his idea, it just isnt a good idea at all - typical male! I still will prepare myself first though as he will take it as me criticising the amount he is drinking. He is very pigheaded and arrogant when he is told things about himself that he doesnt like. He can be blind drunk yet still offer to pick the kids up from sports because he doesnt think he is drunk and wont be told. He tends to think he is above the law.

I have painted a rather horrible picture of my husband but this is only when he is drinking. He is a nice guy when he isnt, so dont think too badly of him. He just has the same affliction we all do, but we admit it!

                                Have a good night/day.
