I failed last night, but think I really can mod today and tomorrow. Stringing those pearls Saturday through Wednesday. I'm taking the Audit portion of the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam next Thursday and the study time is more productive AF. I just found out yesterday that I passed BEC. I passed REG in February. The weekends are always much easier to be AF, and I am taking two days off work next week to study (I'll pretend they are weekend days).

I needed to write down the 5 day AF commitment here.

Woohoo! day 5 completed. Attending AA each morning is helping my resolve.

We are heading to Sydney and Melbourne on holidays for 2 weeks and that will be a real test. However I will locate the AA meetings in both these cities and absorb the message. A lady to-day told how in her early days of AA she intentionally spent as much time at meetings as she had previously devoted to drinking. She has been sober for 29 years.

It is nice to wake clear headed and know what I said and did last night, and feel well.

I made it through last night as well - Day 6 for me - 5 pearls! woo hoo - I am planning to pick up some AF beer and keep myself incredibly busy this weekend.

If I can get to Sunday it's a full week - once I have that I don't want to goof it up (previous history)

Diving into a new world!

Hey Pealers!

Reading through the posts, you all sound positive and ready with plans at hand! So good to hear that even when you have a couple of dud oysters, you keep on diving!!!
So proud of you all just plugging away! Yes those little actions, like popping the cork back in and not finishing the last few drops...that is you levelling the playing field with the AL demon! A good reason to feel great about you!

Universal- :goodjobn Day 6! So with six pearls what fantastic piece of decorative luxury will you create?
suzi- sounds like you have the plan happening for travel time. For me, it s the days when I get thrown out of routine that my resolve can weaken! Like any form of stress, even good stress, is an excuse or reason to succumb! But not any more...I am getting the four pearls for my earings...tomorrow I shall have them HAHAHAHAHA! *snub my nose in the face of AL*
Maisie-good luck with the study! I will be committing to some study in November and will need a clear head to juggle work, study and family..so I can imagine where you are at!
Also, don't think 'failure', you just picked up a dud oyster....you just need to keep looking! Remember, you've achieved your goal here if you can get a few of those pearls in a row! One dud, does not mean you've dropped the pearls you've already collected!
mpp- same thing my friend! Just keep diving..it's the little steps that all add up to make a journey!
Findingmyself- welcome aboard! How many pearls you going to gather first up? Doesn't have to be any more than you are ready to committ to!
ak & annie -The thing about gathering pearls is that we get to enjoy the beautiful scenery of another world whenever we choose to dive! Enjoy the journey,even going to bed early is a lovely experience! waking up sober is another one!

Thanks for the note. Moderating tonight, early night (pleeze!..) Had allergies and took a Sudafed yesterday and ended up til 2:00 am. While my normally "up all night" child and husband slept like the angels they are. Today was tough!

Two boxes of tissues down, still sniffling, will do two Benadryl and head for bed.

I too am heading off to bed (8:30 on a Saturday night, how pathetic!) but I am going to bed sober!

Day 7 for me - busy day today, cleaning, closing the trailer, and a housewarming party tonight. She knows I am trying to quit drinking though so she picked up some AF beer for me. I have really great friends, I am really lucky.

So today I know I will not drink. Too busy! But I am looking forward to tomorrow as I am doing all of my work today so tomorrow will be nice and relaxing.

No pearls for me since I posted the other day. Drank moderately one night, and way too much the next. I had had a couple of AF days in a row thanks to reading the message boards here and finding so much support and advice! I'll just keep trying!

Reading all the messages here is so encouraging. I had my niece's wedding to attend yesterday aboard a luxury boat. Simplistic elegance to the enth degree. I drowned in orange juice, lemonade, and ginger ale avoiding the hard stuff, however a did take a couple of sips of bubbly from my toasting flute. And that was it.

So I am still claiming my pearl for day 6.

Heading to AA tonight (just more reinforcement) and then day 7 will be complete. I want this sober way of life to be forever, not just a few days, so I am not giving in easily this time.

I may not have full computer access while we are on holidays, a bit hit and miss, but I will check in whenever possible. So let's all keep diving for those pearls and not get too many duds along the way.

Well in about 8 hours I shall have my matching pearl earrings to go with the necklace! Happy now, glad I am AF...finally it is like a switch has been turned on and my body just does not want or need it anymore!
Just wanted to add quickly to Finding..that you still gathered some pearls, so that is brilliant!!

Modded last night and am, like Universal, up and feeling good today. So much better than this time last week.

Getting my pearl diving gear in order (supps and a PLAN!) and getting ready for the week. Have this lovely pearl ring and nothing to go with it. Need some more pearls!
