    Progress thread for ne

I think all dogs have that trait. We lived on the No. California coast where dead seals and the occasional whale would wash up. What canine would pass up a good Dead Sea creature?

    Retrievers are wonderful dogs. :h

I would not begrudge my dog a smelly carcass, Sam. The poop, thing, though. It's a rather long and boring story, but there was once a foster dog with serious issues and that was a BIG part of the problem. urgh. I really didn't like that dog at all. Vomiting poop onto the rugs was only part of the problem, though. Still, I'm glad my pup's not eating her own poop. (And I just want to point out that I woke up obsessing about this. For no reason. Well, except the nicotine patch I forgot to take off...And general anxiety. ha.)

Stuck, it's already much better. And thanks. And bacatcha. I am really glad for you that you've got some days and are starting to feel better. Many hugs.

Oh my. Give me strength. I'm in class and we're going over drug and alcohol emergencies. The amount of misinformation being shared by the teacher and the students is appalling. grrrrr. The lack of understanding, much less empathy is shocking. I am trying very, very hard to just keep quiet.

Ne, you're a better woman than me. I'd either leave class, pull my hair out or spontaneously combust!

Stuck--just a shout out--I hope you're well and I hope your meeting goes smoothly. ❤️

When I was a medic, the unstated protocol for heroin overdoses was to punch the patient in the nuts as hard as you can and then slam the narcan as fast as you can, so they go into immediate withdrawal. No shit. People actually did this. A guy I knew had a group of ODs, and instead of starting 5 IVs her mainlined them, so if 1 had HIV or hep c, now the rest of them do too, because fuck 'em, they're all just addicts right?

I hate this world so much.

Also, thanks for the shout out. I am hungover and have a long day ahead.

Hope everybody's having a good one.

I'm so sorry Ne. I've heard some pretty hateful and ignorant things coming out of my boss's and coworkers' mouths that made me really have to bite my tongue, but at least we don't work in a profession where it's our job to help alcoholics and addicts in crisis. It must have been so tempting to set people straight, but of course that would mean outing yourself. That must have been rough.

And WOW, Stuck. I'm well aware of the fact that there are people out there who have a "f*ck 'em, let 'em die" attitude towards addicts, but to hear about a so-called medical professional doing something like that is sickening beyond words. People can be so heartless and evil. I truly hope that guy is no longer working as an EMT.

Yeah no he's a paramedic in Chicago still. It's like the wild f**king west on the south side there.

That guy doesn't sound like he's just out of touch and ignorant, Stuck. It sounds like he's a psychopath. I wouldn't be surprised if he's beating anyone or anything vulnerable.

In retrospect, I think I overreacted. There is a woman in the class who is just...ignorant. On a whole 'nother level of idiocy, honestly, to the point where the professor addressed it with the class and asked us to stop laughing at her. (Also strange, and unprofessional, but whatever...) She made a stupid comment about not feeling sorry for someone who had ODd. But she's an idiot, and they come in all shapes and sizes. (As do psychopaths.)

Sorry about the hangover, Stuck. Hope you're feeling better.

Thanks for the commiseration, peeps. While I think my reaction was a bit much, I also KNOW firsthand that the "marketing problem" we face has more to do with the (understandable) belief that we choose to stay addicted and miserable. We don't help the situation by believing them.

Chin up and all that. I've got one more long day before the weekend. I am not at all a fan of the 8-6 grind! :H

Ah, Reggie. You did it again, I see.

wow! This is fancy! Sadly, I'm going to have to redo all of my handy-dandy settings. Anyone have any idea how to do that? I set it up so that I see the last page first, and the last post is always at the top. (If I knew how to do it, I would tell you. It's much faster and easier to read that way.)

Hope all are doing well. Bacinabit.

I haven't heard from administration yet about getting my name changed back to my actual username from the old My Way Out site. I did figure out that I registered using Ne1 in February, using the same email address. I got locked out of my account (Ne/Neva Eva) and needed to get back on the site to send a message to admin. Hopefully the situation will be rectified shortly and I'll be able to get my actual username back.

Atheist Wins $2 million Settlement Over Drug Program

U.S. District Judge Garland E. Burrell Jr. found that compelling Hazle to attend the program ran “afoul of the prohibition against the state’s favoring religion in general over nonreligion,” and violated a constitutional right against government imposing religious beliefs on him.
