Okay...I read a bit more background here...You are attempting to go 48 hours with no baclofen bleep? If I miss a dose and go 12 hours before the next one, nothing happens. Almost can't tell the difference. I used to double up on the next dose, but that would make the night 24 hours later a sleepless one. I no longer double up (Dr. Levin agrees here) and I can't take p.r.n. doses either (mess me up bad). Everyone's body is different, but I bet that if I did what I think that you are proposing, I wouldn't feel much until the 2nd day or later and I bet I'd start to feel worse for a day or two even after I started baclofen on the end of the 2nd day. Good Luck! -tk

Thanks for the input Terry, that's exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for. Basically I wanted a grounding for how long I would have if I suddenly ran out of baclofen. I plan to take it as soon as I feel the first symptoms of withdrawal, in any form, manifesting. If none manifest by tonight, I'll accept that I have at least 1 full day to remedy any supply situation, and end the experiment by taking my normal nightly dose, resuming normal doses thereafter.
I don't intend to come off baclofen, or even reduce my dosage after this. It is just to give me a little peace of mind.
On a plus note, I slept through the entire night, a first for many months. Strangely, I feel more tired this morning than normal.
I'm potassium. Thanks for all the input everyone.

An info I had this morning on one of the bac FF, that comes from O.A : " one shouldn't lower the switch dose, unless the SE are not bearable".
So you're being wise.
Glad you're feeling well.

I took baclofen again at 3 o'clock, so it was 24 hours, which is pretty much what I wanted to see. I felt jittery by then, and had a short temper. At times, the world appeared not quite 2 dimensional, but not 3 dimensional either. I have been yawning all day, so will probably go take a nap now. Back on to my normal dosing schedule again.
The whole thing was actually rather unpleasant, I sincerely hope I don't run out of baclofen for real one day.
Thanks for all the input.

Thanks for the info.... bleep can you please remind me as to how much bac you are taking and for how long?bleep;1089621 wrote: I took baclofen again at 3 o'clock, so it was 24 hours, which is pretty much what I wanted to see. Also keep us updated as to how you feel now that you are back on the bac.... anymore discomfort since it was out of your system for 24 hours?

I've deleted my post because I believe that I have posted possibly erroneous information. If anyone has read my original post and would like clarification, please PM me.

Being deficient in potassium is indeed dangerous.

Terry, thanks again for the info. I had noticed the world going into 2D once before, on the way up, so I'm not sure if it was simply suggestion that put it there. Perhaps it could have been though, who is to say. I think that most of what I felt was psychosomatic, to be honest.
Chi, it took perhaps 8 hours before I felt normal again, although I didn't feel terribly different to begin with, just irritable, and that could have been caused by anything. On the whole, I'm glad I did it, if only because know I now that I have a bit of time if anything goes wrong in the future.
Currently I am on 270mg's per day, taken in 4 doses. I stopped taking baclofen yesterday at 3 o'clock, and resumed again today at 3, with no ill effects. Wouldn't recommend it though.

Your experiment has prompted me to come up with a plan to have enough bac on hand to taper off of it in the event I need to discontinue for some reason.
Now I'm trying to figure out what kind of taper schedule would be appropriate.

There has been much talk here about taper schedules (safe/unsafe/emergency). I believe Dr. Levin recommends 20mg/week. I have personal feelings about the issue, but I can't offer advice here. I would guess that some people will be able to tolerate more rapid titration. Anyway here's a link to a great post from Bill G with a matrix showing you how many pills you need to reduce your dose by one pill a week, if you are taking X number of 20mg pills this would do it for you and fit in to a doctor recommended taper scheme:Chi;1089890 wrote:

p.s. and then there's guardian in there talking about going cold turkey from high dose baclofen and then to 50 and 25 and not having problems? Go figure. He doesn't come around here too much anymore. He's a interesting guy to talk to.

Thanks Terri!
I also just posted a bit I found that benzo's can be used too, which is good to know in the case of an emergency.
I want to add that I am comfortable with taking bac, but since I am doing it without doctor supervision I am trying to gather more info... not to be an alarmist, but to be and stay safe. :thanks:

Benzo's (GABA-A) are notoriously ineffective for baclofen (GABA-B) withdrawal (you need 10-100X the dose needed for GABA-A withdrawal). Much literature to back this up and coffee's and i-want-to-be-sober's stories here as well. GHB or GBL might work, but are entirely not recommended. -tkChi;1089909 wrote: Thanks Terri!

All this GABA stuff gets confusing, for me anyway.terryk;1089915 wrote: Benzo's (GABA-A) are notoriously ineffective for baclofen (GABA-B) withdrawal (you need 10-100X the dose needed for GABA-A withdrawal). It's amazing really that given how AL affects GABA that AL withdrawal doesn't last longer, although I realize AL withdrawal can also be dangerous.
