    [POLL] Did baclofen help you get rid of your alcohol problem?

    I changed the poll to a new more detailed version by request, please vote again!

    Hi there,

    Since the topics are a messy around here I thought it would be a good idea to gather some statistics. So I made a poll where people can vote about their results with baclofen.

    I deliberately didn't put the: 'I didn't start yet' vote in it, because it won't let you vote more than once and I'm looking for results of people who did take it.

    If you vote 'I will not try', could you explain why?

    Of course every other comment is welcome.

    I suppose you need to define "help", since it could help someone by ruling out a certain method but lead them to the one that was right for them. Or it might help you feel better, or ultimately provide a cure. And is it a reduction in your drinking?1 drink, 10 drinks, abstainance or simply achieving your goal - whatever that was.

    I've voted "No" but that might change to "Yes" depending on how things go in the near future, but only not necessarily as a result of Baclofen's properties.

      I think 'help' doesn't need to be defined. If it helps for the person reach their target it has helped. What I'm trying to do is look for what percentage of people it had positive results and not less important: negative results.

      Because I think that the euforia of it helping someone makes one make a topic, but when it's a total fail I think someone starts drinking again or isn't in the mood of writing a story about it.

          I'm glad you created this poll; I'm new here and having read all the bac threads I'm still not sure what the success rate is. Nevertheless, the bac arrived this morning and I'll be starting today.

              I voted yes in the poll because baclofen in low doses seemed to help me experience reduced cravings for alcohol after I had stopped drinking. It may also have helped with anxiety and mood sometimes, and the 12-25 mg doses I was taking (and still take some days) seemed to make me feel a bit more alert (especially if tired) rather than sedated.

                Did you titrate to 0 over time and now carry a tab 'just in case' then? Hoping to go down to 0 myself over the next weeks and would like to think that I could have a tab on hand 'just in case' but have read that you should not stop taking it suddenly - confusing! so any help on this would be appreciated. :thanks: Katherine

                  Titrate it down like you titrated it up. Just don't go from 300 to 0 in a sudden. Stopping when you are on 10mg or even a little higher shouldn't be a problem.

                    YES.

                    Last night I figured I'd just drink the 4 beers I had sitting in my fridge. Shortly after opening the fourth one, I found that I was utterly repulsed by it, and poured it down the sink.

                    That's a positive result.

                      Katherine, I think at the levels you are taking it, there are no withdrawal issues whatsoever to be concerned about. Don't take that as gospel though.

                              Yes for me. Haven't hit the switch and probably won't for a while. But my AL consumption is down 65% since starting Bac and for the first time in 10+ years I feel I have some control.
