    Overdose of glutamine?

Please help me undtestand what is happening. I feel really weird. My head feels really strange, full kinda. A little roaring sound but inside my head kinda Bst i candscribe sounds like central heater is gearing up to come on. Does that make sense? I'm a little nauseous not bad, but don't want coffee, which is real strange. Always want coffee even when stomach not good.

I wasn't having SEs on 80 bac (20 x 4) for 2 days. Been on bac for about 2 weeks.. I upped my dose of glutamine a lot. 2 tbs. X 2 a day. Ok for a couple of days, but last night started feeling real strange. Can't stay asleep

I can't realoynexplain how imfeel, but really scared that I have f**k my brain. Feet won't stay still, and the mild problem I've been having for weeks in my right hand when I hold the newspaper now much worse. But it is how my brain feels that scars me. Not a headache.

No al since Sunday. Never had withdrawal n past. Is this it?

I need to be able to function today. Scared to take bac and/or glut but scared not to. Almost scared enough to call doc or go to hospital and I rarely over react to health issues. Take wait and see attitude.

    Can anyone relate, give guidance???

      Overdose of glutamine?

Sounds like baclofen to me, but I am not a doctor. I have never taken glutamine, so can't speak on that.

If it is baclofen, don't worry about it, no permanent damage has been done, and it will pass. It will, however, come back when you take more, so maybe drop back down for a bit.

L-Glutamine is weird, I always feel odd and full-headed when I take it, which is why I only take it in the evenings closer to bedtime. Maybe you're taking too much? I'm just taking 500mg capsules, I have no idea what the dosage is supposed to be for AL, I'm mainly taking it to help heal some digestive issues I've been having, I didn't even realize it could help with cravings until I came here.

It stands to reason that if you're taking the same amount of baclofen as you were, and you've added L-glut, the issues are related to the L-glut. Right?

          My suggestion?
Drop the L-glut. For good. It makes me feel wonky, too. The first couple of times I took it, I thought I was going to pass out.

Probably a good idea to take your baclofen from this point forward or titrate down. Stopping abruptly won't kill you but it might make you feel really, really bad.

You could see a doc. I have. Several times. Generally they suggested getting off of bac immediately (a really bad idea) because they don't know anything about it, or they prescribe an anti-anxiety (not a bad idea at this point) or they wanted me to see an addiction pdoc. Or all three!

It will be okay. I'm sorry it's so scary. L-glut passes through the system fairly quickly and bac SEs are not permanent. I've been on it for about 2 1/2 years, and I've taken way too much and way too little, and my brain works just fine. (What amazes me is that it works fine in spite of all the booze! That's a testament to the human brain!!!)

            Hi GG,

I had this same problem a few months ago. Here's my thread: https://www.mywayout.org/community/f2...uch-73939.html

I am very careful now with the Glut...but you are not alone!! :l

It will pass. Just lay down if you can for a bit...I did and soon recovered.

PS- I am not asking Bac or any mess other than my lamictol for Bi-Polar.
Other than that I am only taking supps and not drinking.

                Dear GG,

I am so sorry you are having a bad time. If you don't feel better soon maybe it would be a good plan to speak to a doctor, if only for reassurance.

When I first joined here I bought loads of vitamins, amino acids, glut...

I started reading different threads and realised that this (for me) was not a good plan as I really didn't have a clue about what to take and how they interact, so I stopped taking them.

Glut and other amino acids are powerful supplements. Could you perhaps see a nutrition specialist who could advise you what to take safely? More money I know and just a suggestion.

I am sure, as Kradle says, it will pass if you have a rest.

                Caro x

                  Better!

:hug:Thank you to Guitarista, anxious, bleep, N/E, Cradle123 and Caro. Don't feel great, but not like I did at 3 am. I think the advise to go easy on the glutamine is right on. I have not taken any today, but may take a tsp this evening. I had cut back on the bac, but have begun taking smaller dose every two hours in order to keep it at about the same dose. I can do that through Monday, and hope it results in no major SEs, but I will be able to basically stay home til then, if needed. I'm not increasing the bac this weekend, but will stay on 80 a day until next weekend.

I was truly scared this morning. I make my living using my brain, and it has also managed to survive most of what I have thrown at it. I am looking at diminished capacity as I age, but not ready to deal it a major hit now! .

We are having phenomenal weather, and my friend is working on fencing in my garden. There is 19 cubic yards of dirt sitting in my front yard, awaiting the arrival of the bobcat. If the weather goddess cooperates, I will have most of my spring garden in by the end of the month.

Having MWO, and the caring folk here is a miracle in my life. Although a few friends know I want to stop drinking, I am not ready to explain what I am doing to get there. Y'all understand, and have been on this journey. Thank you for giving the gifts of compassion, and experience, to a strange woman (in more ways than 1!).

                  GG

                      Overdose of glutamine?

                      Moving along

That is what I felt, too! I'm so glad that I began to feel more "right" by mid afternoon.

Did not sleep well Friday night, and after the night before, I was tired. And I hurt, which is a trigger for drinking. So, Saturday, I bought 2 bottles of wine. In about 6 hours I still had not drunk all of one. I count that as a partial victory. Had one glass earlier this pm but no real interest in finishing the glass or getting another one.

I haven't taken l-glut since my episode, but have taken 80 ml of bac. Really lethargic, not wanting to move, but if I don't I fall asleep in the recliner; and I really do have to get some chores done. And not getting them done will likely lead to stress, then anxiety, ... blah, blah... Enough.

I'm off to do laundry and maybe cook a good dinner. Again :thanks: to all who kept me going!

The best way to beat baclofen somnolence is to move around, then you'll find it can almost disappear entirely. Sit still and it's game over.
