    Help

    I made it tonight!!

Apparently, last night I drank an entire large bottle of wine within 2 hours. I am sure my liver loved it. Geez.

Don't remember doing it after the first two drinks.

Hubby said I couldn't talk and I fell down trying to take my clothes off to get into bed. I am sure he just LOVED having me that way on my one of two nights home a week...

But, today is another day and I am really trying to sort out what caused me to do something to stupid. The "triggers" everyone talks about.

I agree with skendall, I wish i could help more.
I feel as though it's all happening to someone right next to me.
I'm close, I can feel it, I can hear it, but it isn't really me.

            feeling better?

            hi Cindi

I am sorry you had a very bad night.
It takes a while to move away from drinking to relieve negative feelings. I don't know how we as adults can continue to soothe negative feelings with something that makes us feel 100% worse. As a therapist once told me, there are few problems that alcohol will not make worse. I am starting to be more accepting of the types of feelings that made me drink before and it helps keep me in line. I don't see these feelings (loneliness, emptiness) as horrible and unbearable as I used to,just part of life and my situation could change as it has in the past.

I think you should keep coming back and writing about your experiences and trying new things. aren't you on topa now? what else are you trying?
Get practical about this project of tackling your alcohol problem.

I think that journaling helps identify things you are doing right and wrong. Also, I know from my own experience, that I got tired of coming on this site reporting that i was having pretty much the same problems. I started to think: something is not right here. Writing it down made me realize how repetitive and self-destructive it was.

Also, can you think about the big picture of your experience and let us know about that? what are your improvements in recent months and how does this fit into that? does your big picture look better than it did before?

hope you are feeling ok today.
