    What amount of time does count Long Term Abstainers ?

    Hi ,
    I am just curious to know that if there are any researches which say you are a long abstainer ?.Or simply want to know, after how many months,years we are supposed to be in this category,may be according the definition of AA or any recognised organisation ??

    A learned habit surely be unlearned !!

    2012: Continuous AF for 7 months from May to Oct.

    Big Relapses : 6th November and 12th December 2012.

    2013 : So many ups and down !!

    2014: Has a conviction to stay with a healthy life.

    Hi Dixon, long term abstainer for me would be a person who is over a year but more importantly it would be in there mindset to stop drinkining alcohol compleatly.

      Hi Dixon! I've never heard of a specific definition for "long term abstainer." As far as AA goes, what I hear most often is that sobriety is a one day at a time deal. All of us in recovery have to wake up each day and in whatever way we do it, decide not to drink that day. I personally know that drinking will never be a safe or desireable option for me, so these days I just keep deciding not to drink today, one day at a time. It's gotten a whole lot easier to do that with time, for sure.
