    Good weekend morning!

I didn’t go up to see the grandkids, because all six of them came to “me”: we went to a nephew’s wedding! And all four of my daughters were there too, and Young Daughter stayed with me overnight for two nights! The wedding turned out to be fun. I am getting skilled at handling weddings without alcohol -although I do substitute sugar instead. It looks like my twin sister stayed totally AF throughout the wedding too -which is a first! Unfortunately there was a down pour of rain right before the outdoor ceremony, but thankfully it stopped for the ceremony and pictures, but then started up again right after; dropping the temperature and leaving people quite cold for awhile. But once they closed in the clear plastic tent and put a couple heaters on, it was fine. I guess our drought took a break for the wedding day.

Your soup sounds good, Lav; I like orzo. And turkey meatballs.
Sounds like a great setup for cooking in the van, Mick.

hope PQ is getting better by the day.

    Hey everyone,
Checking in a bit late but better than never I guess.
I was outside waiting to see if I could get a glimpse at an 80,000 yr old comet (believe it or not). It was supposed to be visible just after sunset but I didn’t see anything. Supposedly the last time this comet was visible neanderthals were roaming the earth, so….. I have no idea how they figure this stuff out but it is interesting to me.

Mick, sorry about the rain & the lack of sleep, bummer. Sometimes there’s just no explanation for these changing sleep cycles, we just have to put up with them.
We have to remember the healing process takes much longer as we age. I’ve noticed it just with small cuts & skin tears. Of course there’s usually chickens, cats or dogs involved in my case Lol

Hello to PQ, thinking of you!
Hello Cyn, Slo & everyone else.

    Have a nice night all!

Hello everyone and how are we today then? Hope all is well. Didn't sleep too great last night it absolutely hammered down with the rain. This morning it is sunny but more rain is forecast . We have a pretty good pitch on the site, we can see all locomotives as they pass the number of people taking photos with camera phones etc is unbelievable definitely little boys grew up but they certainly don't lose their interests! As you can see I am doing this yet again on my phone so again apologies for any grammatical errors.
hiya lav how are you doing today? That stew that you made sounds pretty interesting the only bit I would consider leaving out turkey meatballs and Chuck a couple of handfuls of lentils in instead. Very weird I couldn't sleep last night either and the night before I slept brilliantly. I still keep getting pins in my knee I thought probably it would have gone by now but obviously my medical skills and knowledge are not quite up to it we'll stop every now and again I get a sharp pain and that's about it. Don't think I helped the other night when I completely forgot about it and knelt on a stone floor stop hope you have a good weekend take care

Hiya ppqp how is the arm doing? Is it in a sling? Hope it heals quickly. Has anyone from work being to see you yet?

hiya slo. How are you doing today then? That meal sounds absolutely brilliant. Must be honest I certainly can't complain about the meals we have in the van either the the cooker is a real good one and also the air fryer. I take it your going up to see the kids this weekend? Hope you have a great time

Hiya teegee how are you doing? Hope all is well with you. Get some rest this weekend. I know it's hard to believe you me I hate doing absolutely nothing. Take care and have a good one

    Greetings Slo & everyone,

Our thread looks pretty slim this week. Hope everyone is OK.
I made a new & interesting stew today with turkey meatballs, orzo, spinach, carrots, leeks, onion, carrots, white beans & chicken broth. It was good & will feed us another time or two.
Couldn’t sleep at all last night which was weird because I slept well the night before. Wish I knew how to contact the sleep fairy haha!

Slo, sounds like you had a good day yesterday too. Truck stop diners are usually pretty awesome, glad your sister went along. I hope the acupuncture is giving you some relief.

Mick, you seem to find trains almost everywhere you go, enjoy!

PQ, hope you are hanging in, thinking of you.

Hello to Cyn & Pie & everyone.

    Have a nice night all!

Mick should be off on his weekend trip now.

I took the long drive to the high school freshman and sophomore nephews’ soccer game yesterday late afternoon. It was a beautiful day, and fun to see them play on the same team. My sister came too, and we stopped for dinner at our favorite truck stop. I had freshly roasted turkey, both light & dark meat, real mashed potatoes, freshly made real bread stuffing, gravy, coleslaw, and a ginormous roll with butter -all for $8.95!

Had acupuncture that targeted my foot especially, so hope it will help.

Sounds like you had a good day too, Lav.

I feel so badly for PQ, and hope she heals well & quickly.

    Hello friends,

Hoping everyone is as OK as possible.
Met two friends for lunch today & also finally delivered that horse pillow I put together. Cool here so I slept better last night. We have a frost warning for tonight, early in the season for us but OK. The hurricane news is devastating, so much damage across Florida & 10 lives lost so far.

Thinking of everyone - PQ, hope you are a little more comfortable today, sending hugs.
    Have a good night all!

    Hello friends,

I was also wondering where PQ was & today she posted on Messenger. If you haven’t seen it she said she fractured her arm a few days ago & of course is dealing with a lot of pain & the aggravation of not being able to do things for herself. Let’s all send her lots of love & healing thoughts. I continue to wish we all lived closer to one another so we can jump in & lend assistance when needed.
OK day here, nothing special going on. Watching The weather channel & hoping my friends in FL will be safe when Milton hits tonight.

Slo, I feel the same about fashion (jeans, T shirts & boots here for the most part) Lol
It is nice though to spend time with other adults in a happy place. I really hope you can find some comfort with your foot so you can continue to do normal things. Glad you had some special time with Huxley, sounds perfect.

Hello to Mick, Cyn, Pie & anyone else dropping by.
wishing us all a nice night.

Today I went to a nice Ladie’s Luncheon and fashion show with a couple women from my condo neighborhood. It was a fundraiser for Women’s shelters. There were like 400 people in attendance! It was a delicious meal. I could give a toss about fashion, but somehow I still manage to attend these fashion show things here & there.

I babysat Huxley last night, and got my hugs & cuddles in from my sweet boy.
I woke up at 4 am as per usual, but mercifully fell back to sleep until 7:00!

I used to make a delicious Dutch split pea soup with leeks.

Won’t be long, Mick, and you’ll be on your way to the show this weekend!

My foot hurts from the neuropathy itself, but also from the baby toe & side of foot rubbing against the shoe, and also from the built-up sole stretching the plantar fascia. I have a bandaid on the toe now that’s helping. I just have to be really careful not to overdo it on my feet.

    I hope PQ is OK.

    Greetings friends,

Sunny & warmish here today, no rain in sight & we really need some. Florida is about to get drowned again with hurricane Milton moving in tomorrow night.
people are having a hard time evacuating the area, traffic is at a standstill in a lot of areas, sad.

Slo, that fire was definitely not planned, the building was still in use. We could be looking at an arson, the investigation continues.
I’m really happy yuo have easier access to family with their recent moves. The grandkids will love seeing you more often.
I have to laugh at the TRump billboards too!!!!

Mick, some of the road work around here is to widen the roads. These roads were built long before. There was so much traffic so they have to move utility poles, etc. seens like it takes forever. We’ve only grown leeks once or twice, love them too. I’m happy buying them from the Amish farmers lately. Send that rain soon, please!

Hello to PQ, Cyn, Pie & everyone.
    Have a nice night all.

hiya Lav ...so you get the same problems on he roads? do you have the same one as we do ...roadworks...hundreds of miles of ones and not a workman in sight? I had some of my leeks for tea last night ..they were pretty good though not as big as I wanted because I never put them in sand .No rain this morning ...yet hope you have a good day .

    big hiya to everyone else.

Must be so weird to see your school burning down, Lav! Is it a planned burn for the firefighters to practice on, or did a fire start?

Mick, yes; I will see the three grandkids more now that they live an hour away instead of 1 hour 35 minutes away.
And, Huxley & his parents now live 13 minutes away rather than 35 minutes away! I picked him up from daycare today after my medical appointment, and spent time with him at his home. He was pounding walnuts that had fallen from a tree with a rubber mallet, while his daddy pounded nearby building a rack for wood. Are walnut nut meats ever good when picked straight out of a fresh walnut!
D3 & her HB and Andy and baby Ayla are coming next week for a week! I have only seen baby girl once when she was two weeks old. She’s two months old now!

Lav, the Trump family name was originally Drumpf -so that’s the name I see whenever I have to look at his billboards and other advertisements.

    Maybe PQ is posting now!

    Good evening friends,

Spent all afternoon accompanying YB to his doctor visit. Travel was a pain due to ongoing roadwork. Didn’t get home until 5 pm, 3 cats & 2 dogs demanded dinner right away haha!
Still no rain here but the temps are beginning to drop a bit & that’s OK with me. Saw this pic on FB - my old elementary school - RIP St. Francis of Assisi.
    IMG_7053.jpg
Nothing stays the same, we should expect changes I guess. My old high school was torn down a few years ago & a new one built in it’s place as well.

Slo, it’s good if you can do just a little yard work at a time. I don’t stay out working in my for hours either, just do a little here & there. You can spend the winter imagining what you want it to look like come next spring & summer. Your meal plan sounds pretty good to me. I put together a little spiced apple cake yesterday, skipped the icing part. It’s good to have with your coffee or tea.

Mick, thanks, I’ll take some of that rain off your hands. Your bird pics were very nice!
I sure hope the rain moves out before your next rip. Florida is prepping for another & even bigger hurricane this week, awful.

hello to the rest of the crew & wishing. A good night for all!

I’ll take some of your rain too, Mick! It has been so dry here, with no rain in the forecast for the next 10 days either. I realize now that I have to water, especially my little pine trees; so I’m getting out there, but it easily puts me over the edge with my foot. So I’ve had a lot of increased foot pain today, and also the little toe is red & painful from pressure. But that was from adding in pulling out a lot of dead, dry plant matter too. I wish the condo association really did do all this yard work for us, but they don’t.

Less than ideal conditions today for nature photography, Mick. Your latest bird pictures were delightful!

My sister helped me get a few pieces of artwork hung up today.

Otherwise I was tired, like I so often am on Sundays, and tanked for a long afternoon nap. Well, that and also because I overdid it yesterday for my disabled body.

My niece-in-law in NC just posted about all the damage that she & her husband sustained to their house on the river. The garage completely filled with water, and their first floor flooded.
She listed Go Fund Me pages for several neighbors, so think I will donate that way.

I had a delicious bowl of oatmeal & bananas for supper, as well as some more of my chicken noodle soup earlier. I made a nice meatloaf earlier this weekend that is now yielding some good sandwiches. Scored butter lettuce, green beans, & zucchini at the farmers market yesterday.

    ‘Til tomorrow!
