    Greetings,
    Day 2 of abs for me...sure craved a beer around 5:00 this afternoon....got on line and read some posts....it helped...hang in there everyone.......be strong...be proud....

      Topa, Librium and excessive heat

      If you've been prescribed Topamax or Librium, be sure to take it easy in the heat. Here's a recent article from Tennessee's National Alliance on Mental Illness re: Topamax, Librium, and potential concerns:

      Heat Wave Can Hamper Those With Mental Illness
      August 11, 2006

      With the heat index lingering above 100 degrees this summer across Tennessee, NAMI is warning of the heightened risks of heat exhaustion and heat stroke for Tennesseans with mental illnesses who take antipsychotics, particularly lithium and topiramate (Topamax).

      These drugs affect the body's ability to stay cool by causing decreased sweating and increased dehydration, or by changing how people experience heat. People on these drugs may not even feel the heat. There is also a risk of severe sunburn.
