Morning Abbers!! Happy Friday!! Not much to report here, cept beautiful weather

I am so bored at my job (but exceptionally grateful to have one and a good paying one at that). I would love to know what it is I would like to persue, I would persue it with a vengance. I am waiting patiently for a sign...I just wish it would hurry up:H

I think I will check out an AA meeting this weekend. I just pulled the Big Book (vol 4) out of retirement and have been reading DG's thread and am inspired to get another arsenal in my weapons against AL.

Hope everyone has a great AF weekend, I know I will.

OK - this is a very random post and I'm just popping in and out - will try to catch up later with everyone. But this...from the Figure Skating Championships...

Smuckers is very good about sponsoring figure skating events, and this one is no exception. However I am a bit by the genius in the Smucker's marketing department who came up with the brand name....are you ready???? Uncrustables. I have no clue what an "Uncrustable" is. I'm just hoping it's not underwear. Assuming Smuckers has NOT branched out into product areas beyond food...would YOU want to eat something called an "Uncrustable?"

Just pondering important life questions such as this one while the ladies from places like Serbia and Monaco and Azerbaijan are doing their short programs.

Uncrustables....mmmmm sounds delicious....kidding! That is funny, underwear called uncrustables, that cracked me up!
Madison- congrats on the 30 days.

I went to a dinner last night with friends we hang out with all the time. I always drank wine with these friends and now it is very difficult not to. My friend is super supportive and makes me tea etc. so I have something else to drink but, WOW, it was difficult not to just have one glass....if only I could have just one glass.
Anyway, I didn't and here I am not hungover. I kept thinking it would suck to have to post that I had a drink last night cause then I would be drinking again and posting. Then the posting would just stop because I would decide I didn't have a problem. Oooooooh so scary!

It is a tough road we have all chosen.

Madison - congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

Narilly - well done on resisting temptation - not easy at the time but so worth it the next day!

Charlee - my "goal" was always to black out too, sad to say. I never saw the point of a couple of glasses with a meal, that would just be a springboard for me.

DG - you know, those women practice and practice and practice for YOUR enjoyment, and you GO OUT when they're on?? :H

I've become a great aunt! My nephew's girlfriend gave birth to their first baby yesterday. That makes my sister a grandmother. Yikes. I'm considering starting to wear tweed and smoke a pipe and going on expeditions up the Amazon - that's always what great aunts did in the books I read as a child...

I ran home to put the 2 mango pies in the fridge and had to peek.

30 days is great Madison!!

Speeds, stabby people yesterday. I was but wouldn't admit it. I got sent home from the hole I was so annoying. I'll have to do that again soon.

R2C, Ia m on the ;exact same page as you regarding what to do. I am ready to jump in with both feet if I could just find the pool!

Narily if I had a drink then I would be in misery the rest of the night nagging and begging myself for more. I'm like charlee. In fact food would just dampen the buzz.

Marshy my new niece is visiting. 2 1/2 months old. My other neice & nephew are in their 30s!

Satori, I used to race. Loved those guys tri-suits. The only reason I'd go to the ballet is the men in tights.

DG, LMAO!! Uncrustables as underwear? Gahhhhhh! But then.... maybe they're crotchless.

Off to the wine store, but that's OK. Really. What's annoying is forking out $30 for wine I'M not going to drink. I never thought of it that way when I drank. Maybe because I'm poor now. :H

Madi: Congratulations on the 30 day mark.

Narily: I'm so glad you didn't drink. I've been where you were last night. In fact, we're having guests here tonight, & there will be wine. I don't feel any kind of longing now, but that doesn't mean an urge might not ambush me later. I will make sure there is nothing in the fridge...it'll go home w/the guests or down the drain. Not only would you have had to come here & confess, you'd have the meetings to think about.

Now that I go to AA meetings, I feel an even greater sense of accountability. Would I say something? Or would I just pretend it never happened? The AA's are experts in the art of seeing through people. Anyhow, I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that I would not have one nor would I confine my drinking to just one night. It would set off a chain of drinking days. Been there, done that.

I actually love seeing normal drinkers drink. It takes hours for them to drink 1 or 2. They split a beer. They forget their drinks. I realize all over again that I would NEVER do any of those things. Never.

Has anyone heard from AAAthlete? I havent seen any posts from him in a while. He was always very inspiring and besides, we need more male input here, not that all us ladies don't rock. It's just great to get different perspectives.

I miss 4theboyz as well. If you guys are out there, come on back. We miss ya!

Good to see new, old and otherwise abbers on here.

Congratulations to Madi and Hulagirl! It was a Friday night, like tonight, 20 months ago that got me started and helped me find my way out. And, I know others here are on a similar path. Good company!
