Mr. Doggy put Ether on my container of Horny's friends. I guess I will be searching for more of his friends daily until I'm sure they are gone. Then tilling this fall and again in the spring and all that jazz. My tongs will be my friend.

DG-I'm a little freaked out about all the "stuff" Mr. Doggie has lying around the house/yard: Sevin and Ether?? Please don't become a CSI episode OK??? JK-really. Just having a little fun with ya!!

LVT-please don't EVA apologise for not mentioning the beast in a post! One of the greatest things about this thread besides being able to get help and support when things are going badly is the sense of normalcy when we post about what is going on in our lives. Always in the undercurrant is the fact that we are NOT drinking despite what is happening on a daily basis and that is a HUGE motivator!

Having said that, I will bring the beast into the conversation (no worries) and how I dealt with it today. I did go up to the Foreclosure Expo (don't you just LOVE what they named it? Like its a fun place to go???) and I met with a rep from my mortgate company. Let's just say it did not go well. I could just tell as I walked up that she wasn't going to be sympathetic at all and I was right. I ended up walking out in tears. Got in my car and how the first good cry I've had in a year. Oh yes, I thought about driving to the nearest packie and grabbing a couple of bottles. That will show them! Then I got angry. Then I started lookng through the packet of materials I was handed at the registration table and I composed myself and marched right back to the reg table and requested that I speak with a housing counselor. I met with the nicest young woman and we talked for a good 30 min. She took the time to explain to me why my modification request was denied and why my mort. co. wouldn't even give me an appeal process. Then we talked options. She's going to do some research tomorrow and contact me but it looks like there are programs out there that will let me refinance for the complete amount I owe with minimum closing costs and she thinks I can get down to at least 5.25 from the 6.25 I'm currently at which will cut my mortgage hopefully by at least $100 a month. I left there feeling very peaceful and much better and no, I didn't stop because I DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' AL!! thanks to cheech and chong.

Well, no giant tomato hornworms in my garden thank goodness! While I was out there I snapped a picture, hopefully it is far enough away you can't see the weeds. Lav, I was thinking about you and your zucchini--which I wish I had a couple right now for supper. Hubby was helping me get the irrigation going in the garden the other day, and he goes "IS THAT ZUCCHINI??? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.....YOU PLANTED ZUCCHINI PLANTS!!!!!" :H :H

While I had my phone/camera in hand, I snapped a couple of pictures of my flower planters too.







The topsy turvy planter was something Terry gave me a couple of years ago, and I finally put it together. I think next year I will plant some trailing stuff in it.

The chair I found in our local garden store. I'd like to make some of these.

Still alive & well (although sweaty) here
I really do not like this extreme heat & humidity & my hair looks like hell :H
I even got my hair cut today & it's still freaking me out!!!

Kaslo, my husband was diagnosed & treated many years ago for chronic, severe depression. He quit treatment too soon in my opinion. Anyway, without a word of warning he ran out out here 15 months ago claimikng he 'couldn't do it anymore'. I still don't know what 'IT' is...........
He's living about 20 minutes away from here in a dumpy little house on the college campus where he works, in another state. We built this beautiful house & moved into it 8 years ago this month. It was supposed to be our 'retirement home'. Now I just sit here by myself, entertain kids & grandkids & work from my home shop. If YB ends up needing a THR or any surgery really he's going to be a train wreck -I guarantee it! He's never experienced real pain in his life. Can't wait to see his karma come back & bite him in the ass.

My 2 1/2 year old grandson helped my harvest 12 more cucumbers from the garden tonight. I thought it was funny he chose to throw them into the fire pit :H
He doesn't eat them, has no clue what they are :H

sorry doglvr-i'm the LAST person to talk to about sugar addiction!! it's been my bane since I quit last May. Even L-Glut wasn't helping but I'm ready to try it again, possibly in mega doses. I'm also going to up my water intake significantly if I can stand it. Good luck-it's a biotch!

LVT I dont know how you do it, I certainly would be at my wits end. Mr. Kaslo has cut way back on his consumption since I quit to the point where he will go for days without beer. I think I am very lucky in that regard. Your description of the time he took off with your son in the car, that lives in my repertoire of things I wont ever try to do. Your garden looks lovely.

It was even hot yesterday on the boreal plateau, especially in coveralls and cruisers vest and carrying a pack. I flew up in a Britton Norman Islander fixed wing bush plane.



Piloted by a woman with red hair. Over endlessly variable boreal forest. Would being AF make me less susceptible to air sickness. I have been plagued with it most of my working life and its been a real hazard to getting the job done. Felt great this time, but I wasnt chancing it. Took two chewable gravol and have been pretty sleepy ever since. Its daylight FULL daylight out there in the land of the midnight sun.



Once here in the Yukon i was driven about by a an ex army sargeant. These were by the side of the road near the plant I am working at. The babies are sure cute, and that cloud around them is blackflies.

what an awesome aerial photo! woooooo! I miss flying. when I was 9 my dad had a little Cessna and it was just the neatest thing when he let me fly.

Doglvr and Papmom, I myself succumbed to sugar's sweet siren call. hotel lobby has ben and jerrys! those buttheads! I normally do pretty well with sugar if I just stay away from it. there doesn't seem to be room for modding sugar with me. if I eat Paleo/Primal I generally lose my sugar cravings after about 8 days. the pisser is, that it's soooo hard to eat good on the road. aaaaaaargh!

for me I think it all starts with the complimentary bread at restaurant dinners. it goes something like this:

Pierre: welcome to the farting duck. I'm Pierre and yes I have a stick up my bum.

me: um, thanks

Pierre: here is your complimentary bread with no less than 4,000000 simple carbohydrates in it.

me: no thank you

Pierre: oh you must. it's fresh and hot

me: no

Wow - what an amazing and interesting group we are!!!! LVT I love your pictures of your garden (and your GREENHOUSE back there!) and your cool planters! Lav - I harvested way more cukes than I need yesterday so long as I was out there with my tongs anyway. Never considered tossing them in the fire pit! Please thank EB for the great suggestion!!!

WOW - Kaz it's like we get to travel with you!! I'm so glad you share the pics. I love it! Seeing a part of the world I will probably never see in person - with you as my tour guide!

I'm zoom zoomin' - I chair the meeting this morning. The topic touches on a few things, but "gossip" and it's damaging nature is one of them. A topic that will be good for me - that's for sure!
