    Re: w/c 16th

    Morning all --

Mick, sorry about all the storms! That gets old quickly... so nice you are devoted to Panda - we love our furry friends.

SK, what the heck is up with your kitty? I know absolutely nothing about cats - are they really trainable? My friends with cats are completely devoted to them, so there must be good times to come. Just be sure that if she scratches you, you get it looked at right away. So sorry to hear about the China and silver, that is seriously bad behavior in my book!

Lav, what a sad story about your neighbor - they are so lucky to have you as an advocate. Sounds like they are taking a very responsible approach to the disease... hard, but so much less upset in the end. Thank goodness for palliative care. How are you feeling?

Pauly - are you feeling better? I remember the desert allergies... hard to shake. How are the boys and Kell?

Det, a website sounds like a great plan! I love the sound of your menus - your too PQ!

Can't remember if I posted about the moldy basement that I am doing battle with... long days here working full tilt to rescue family photos, archival docs, etc. This is the payoff for me working too much and not paying close attention to our house. I think this house and grounds are too much for us with our current work-life pattern of being gone so much and for long periods. Can't expect the dog sitter to stay on top of the humidity and air flow in a house. So, off I go again (with my particulate mask on) to deal with it all. I've stopped the mold, now it is just getting all the cardboard boxes out of there so that there is no more 'food' for the spores to get going on again.

Good day to all - sorry if I missed anyone, I will catch up.

        MAE All...

Lav...our caterers are Ukrainian and our chef is Chinese. You can just imagine some of the staff meals we get on occasion. By the sounds of it I think your friends family made the right decision. It was the same decision we made with my mom. I have to confess that I had a crown fall off about 2 years ago and I've never replaced it. It had taken them 3 attempts to get the crown on in the first place and I'd be damned if I was going back. Not sure if that's a good thing but I'm still alive. LOL

Det...if you ever do start your blogsite you be sure to let us know. Oh, and I'm looking forward to seeing the pic.

Mick...I'm glad the news from the specialists was good. I'm sure that put your mind at ease. She'll probably outlive both you and Jeeves. Garden meeting was good and the last one for the season. We're throwing around some ideas for next season. Let me know if I can send you anything to make the Rocky Mountain Express more authentic. Yet another storm and here I am feeling sorry for myself that it's around 0 degrees and snow tonight.

Cyn...sorry you have to deal with the aftermath of the storm. Sounds like hard and tiring work. A change in the home front might be the way to go.

Pauly...surrounded by the hags. LOL You must be getting close to feeling 100% because I swear I've taken over the entire world's cold bug! How is it possible to be so congested and still have a runny nose?

Since I'm wearing the Boss Hat today and there is absolutely nothing going on at the centre today (apart from childcare) I decided we should all pack it in and go home. Didn't get any arguments so we left about 2pm. It's cold, drizzly and overcast so I'm already in my PJ's. Picked up some steaks to go with baked potatoes and mushrooms for dinner tonight. Isn't that how the saying goes, starve a fever, feed a cold? Hope you're all having a good day....:smile:PPQP

          Re: w/c 16th

          Greetings Abbers,

We are just starting to see a little improvement in the weather here ~ finally, geez!
I just read today that we haven't had this much humidity in the month of September since 1970. THAT explains the frizzy hair I had in my senior year of high school, ha ha!!!
This girl is ready for crisp, cool air, oh yeah!!!

Mick, I have several dental crowns & they all take turns popping off. They are a big pain but better than going toothless I suppose, Lol
I've been thinking a lot about our elderly friend & will be sure he gets what he needs & is as comfortable as possible. We live about 45 min away from him now as does his son.
It's just difficult since the old folks can no longer drive or go grocery shopping or get to the doctor, etc.
Glad Panda is getting along OK. I hope you stay storm free this weekend.

Cyn, sorry about the damp basement & documents
You may remember we had some water leak through the basement wall after YB put the big roof thing on the deck to provide some shade. The extra weight caused the rain to run backwards toward the foundation instead of away. Thankfully he fixed it & the basement is dry once again but what a pain that was. Do you need to find someone to take a look at the foundation to see if you're having a similar problem? Don't inhale too much of that funky mold stuff.
I'm doing much better, just going thru the testing process now to find out what causes these nasty reactions.

Pauly, I think we're all getting world allergic, ugh.
Loved the boys pic on FB today!

PQ, sometimes the so called cures are much worse than the disease, right? I hate what the medical community is willing to put an 83 year old thru to try for a cure - ridiculous. I think quality of life is much more important.
If your Ukrainian caterer ever wants to take a US vacation just let me know
Glad you got to clock out early today, nice!

Det, I stopped & picked up a fresh 3 lb box of mushrooms today right from the grower (they don't come fresher than that). My intention is to make a pot of soup this weekend but today I made this & it was SO good. I used a ton of homegrown garlic too (Det approved):
Vegan Mushroom & Walnut Pate • It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken
Figuring out what you want to do with your future is not easy. At least you do have work experience & pretty much know what you do like & don't like. I think something with photography, nature & lots of garlic is beckoning you!!!

SK, how are you doing post kitty bite? Don't let that toe get infected or anything.
So how is the little terrorist behaving today?

          Wishing everyone a peaceful night!

          Lav

                MAE ALL...

Lav...Quality of life wins every time! I'll let you know if the catering girls are heading south, they're always popping back and forth to the Ukraine anyways. The pate recipe looks like it would taste great. All I need is the walnuts and will give it a try.

SK...I hope you're safe and protected. Please check in today so we know you're ok.

Mick...cutting the grass!!! Ours is frozen! Everything's covered in an ice frozen layer!! You take it easy, headache is one thing but the dizzy worries me.

Snow did not materialize last night but it's below freezing, overcast, drizzling ice crystals and all round crappy outside. Time for clear out your fridge soup, light the fire and snuggle with a good book. Have a Super Sober Saturday all....:smile:PPQP

Thankfully the bell eventually signalled the end of he round.
Round two and after a minute of dodging I was floored again. Dazed, I got back to my feet only to be smashed on the temple and knocked to the canvas. I looked at my trainer, he said: "Don't get up until nine"! I said: "Ok, what time is it now"?

                    Re: w/c 16th

                    Hi everyone.

PPQ, thanks and yes I am fine. I had to turn the phone off because the buzzers of those warnings is full blast.. When it rains here it's like water being poured out of a bucket and the soil is like clay so it doesn't drain, ie. floods. Same again tonight.

Mick, I'm glad Panda is happy. I woke up this a.m. to see Misty with her arm around Hermi and no biting, so things have calmed down a bit and they looked adorable.

Thanks for all your perspectives on Zoe. I will bear in mind and attend the concert.

Lav, I hope the lady is okay. I have very strong opinions on quality of life

                    Hiya Pauly, Cyn and Det.

                    I may check in later.

                      Re: w/c 16th

                      Good evening Abbers,

Fairly nice around here today, some sun mixed in with clouds & not raging hot & humid for a change - yay!
Fall officially arrives this evening & that makes me happy

Mick, what's up with the headache & dizziness? That happens to me if my B/P is too high or too low. Sudden moves can be dangerous so be careful.

SK, I hope your storms are too horrible. Poor drainage is always problematic & worse when gutters & storm drains aren't cleared regularly. We have no storm drains around here, just farm fields that usually suck up the heavy rain.
Glad to hear your kitties have made peace

Pauly, how did work go this morning? More of the same??
I hope your day was OK.

PQ, frozen? Really? Sorry to hear that, geez.
We were just discussing firewood this morning but no one made a move to split logs & I'm sure not doing any, ha ha!
Stay warm & enjoy the peace.
Did I mention that recipe for the pate was supposed to serve 8? Yeah, we ate almost the whole thing, it was that good.

Cyn, hello to you & I hope you are not stuck in the basement all weekend.
Pretty soon the leaves will be turning & the air will dry things out.

                      Have a peaceful night everyone!
