    Re: w/c 25th

hiya all...how are we today then?well thats one belter of a storm we have just had and i dont think its finished...been sanding again this morning ,and...got a phone call from the guy about the trains this morning ...he is supposed to be coming up this afternoon ..hmmmm we shall see...If not then its a head scratcher ..need to find somewhere else .
so lets have a brew ...Im parched ...dust .

hiya SK How are you doing?the past has gone ,look to the future to make your memories ....that sounds like a nice sweater you got for Viv ..winged unicorns ..I think they are rarer than the ordinary ones .... you take care of yourself.

hiya Lav ,hows you then ? hope all is well? Under the table work eh? I take it that is what we call foreigners ...good luck to you ..the irs would ony give it to your man for top up tanz..yes normally the worktop just gets a light sand and oiled ..but in this case ...the guy that marked the top...the chemic burnt thru it asll...so would have been pretty difficult to match up..and of course it was right in the middle too..I dont believe it ..its hammering down and the window cleaner has turned up ...that aint gonna be happening ..dont know where our hay is coming from ..Ive got a funny feeling its canadia ..

hiya ppqp..hows you then?good I hope ...oh the little star did it again this morning ..I took a big bowl of food out ,emptied it in the hutch ...no problem with that..she just didnt like the plassy bowl took it in her mouth and launched it the length of the hutch.yep this is the season for elastic waistbands ..have a great day.

hiya det .....aka bolt man hows things with you ..hope all is well with you ..hows the pesky?

hiya pie ...hows you then?so youve got a fair bit of project work to do on the new condo? that doesnt phase you ..you are into all that ..Are the worktops solid granite or a composite?yes mine are supposed to be done 6 monthly ..ish ..we are now on year 3.. great to see you back btw.

hiya Pauly ,how are you doing then? hope all is well with you ..have a great day ...

hiya teegee n sam you both good?

right folks have a good one..

Just seen an advert in my local paper

    MATHS TEACHER NEEDED!
    £35,000 - £40,000

So I rang them up and said "The answer is
    - £5,000"
    Stupid gits.

I got called into human resources today because of a couple of incidents and was asked if I knew the difference between left and right wing. I told them to fck off as my politics was my business.

They still sacked me though, turns out aircraft are pretty expensive to fix.

Indian junkies accidental snorted curry powder instead of cocaine. They’re both in hospital... one's in a korma…the other's got a dodgy tikka!

So apparently RSVPing back to a wedding invite 'maybe next time' isn't the correct response.

My wife came down the stairs wearing a power-suit tonight. I asked her where she was going dressed like that ?

"I'm going to my first women's empowerment meeting," she sneered at me, "Or as you would call us, the Feminazis..... I won't be stopped by you or anything, and I'm going to show I'm every bit as equal if not superior to men !"

"Oh, ok," I said disinterestedly, "Let me know how it was when you get back."

30 minutes later she came back through the front door looking exhausted.

    "Oh, it's over already ?" I asked.

"No," she said, "Darling, would you please reverse the car out of the drive for me."

    "Pass the sugar, please."

"You should stop taking sugar, it's bad for your teeth."

    "That's no problem, I don't have any."

I accidentally dropped a load of Viagra on the floor shortly after taking one. I was crawling around on all fives for about half an hour looking for them.

A grooming gang were busted recently in Dublin.
Police were alerted after spotting several freshly clipped and well presented poodles.

Mae everybody,SK,I remember that house from when you showed us the real estate video,,it was absolutely gorgeous! Sucks you didn't get much out of the deal I can bend and stand but my fridge is a mess cuz I'm a slob haha! I feel like if I wanted to keep my house as clean as I'd like it to be I'd have to be a stay at home person cuz there's alot of dust in Vegas, the boys make a mess and although it's not a huge house it is decent sized,so I just tidy up my immediate surroundings, got my tree lit yesterday but I told Lou I'd wait for the decs til he comes over Saturday probably,Det,interesting feeling you're having,I agree with Lav it may be the supps? I don't like too many supps, even tho they're natural I still get funky effects from some,Mick, yep I remember those counters too PQ,its frozen lasagna night for me,,just sounds good plus it's supposed to rain and it'll be nice to have the oven on,Pie,glad you like your new place much love to all and wishes for a great Booze Free Thursday!

        Top O the Morn ABeroooodles!

Mick, rain here too which is a pleasant surprise. sorry I can't help on train tech... youtube to the rescue?

Pauly, this feeling of extraordinary mood/motivation is not the supps, it's the diet and the effects I'm feeling are well observed by those
doing it. it's discussed all over the keto forums. People saying things like... why the heck didn't i do this decades ago? I feel crazy good, or
why do I feel kind of 'high'?
People embarks on this lifestyle for a number of reasons but let me just provide an important caveat: simply increasing dietary fat to a crappy
diet is a BAD idea for sure. You really have to understand it and do it correctly. It's not complicated but needs to be done thoughtfully and with
care. This is for health advancement after all.

Lav, where do you sell your crafty things?

SK, I can't believe in this day and age computers are still so cranky and user unfriendly. I just yesterday fixed an issue with being able to record incoming audio from my microphones that's been a head-scratcher for months. I guess having a clear mind gave me the edge to finally finesse this blasted computer into cooperation.

Did a bunch of Xmas shopping on Amazon yesterday so boxes shall be rolling in shortly. now where to hide them? one issue with living in a tiny house. ack!

Off to apply for more jobs in the behavioural health field. this would be a ton easier if I had the requisite educational background but I'm determined to get my foot in the door somewhere....

        be well loves

          MAE ALL...

Mick...hope your weather breaks soon. So did the train guy show up? So the star is an environmentalist eh? No plastic in her house. Lunch was a huge success, don't think I'll eat again until Tuesday!

Pauly...heard on the news it was a bit cold in Vegas today. Lasagna sounds like a good idea, I on the other hand am not eating anything!

Det...good luck in getting your foot in the door somewhere. Any chance of taking some online courses to help with the requirements? And Christmas shopping well under way. Good job.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Need to put my feet up and relax. Have a peaceful evening all....:smile:PPQP

            Good evening friends,

It was a nicer day here, sun & much less wind, nice
I don't mind the cold, it actually energizes me a little, ha ha!

Det, I sell at craft shows, sell to friends & former customers. I have Etsy & eBay shops but haven't done much with them lately.
I hope your continued job search turns up something awesome for you very soon.

Mick, you have really been slammed with storms lately, geez.
Good old Uncle Sam doesn't have to have his hand in everything we do, LOL. YB is making of ton of cash driving the Amish community around & Uncle Sam doesn't know about that either...….don't tell anyone, ha ha! Good luck on your jobs.

SK, sorry about your continued computer woes. I can't figure these things out on my own either. YB actually worked (on the side) with a computer guy who built custom systems for businesses. He learned a lot, honestly.
Don't beat yourself up about the past stuff, it's done now & can't be changed. You owe it to yourself to be happy & enjoy your time with Viv I'll bet she loves the unicorn.

Pauly, I'm still in the process of discarding things that contain possible allergens. I may have already mentioned that one of them was my multivitamin supplement. It was a good one that included essential minerals. Turns out I'm allergic to one of those minerals. It was causing sudden flushing of my face & ears of all things!!! I love my supplements but have to watch for weird side effects. I make a point to toss all of the leftovers in my fridge the day before trash pickup each week. That way nothing stays in there too long. It's a pretty good system.

Hello to pQ, who may be typing right now too!

Cyn & Sam, hello to both of you.

            Have a nice night everyone!

I've noticed that if I take zinc I throw up. every time. I try once every 5 years or so. no idea why.

Paddy had long heard the stories of an amazing family tradition.

It seems that his father, grandfather and great-grandfather had all been able to walk on water on their 18th birthday. On that special day, they'd each walked across the lake to the pub on the far side for their first legal drink.

So when Paddy's, 18th birthday came 'round, he and his pal Mick, took a boat out to the middle of the lake, Paddy, stepped out of the boat ...and nearly drowned! Mick just barely managed to pull him to safety.

Furious and confused, Paddy, went to see his grandmother.

'Grandma,' he asked, "Tis me 18th birthday, so why can't I walk 'cross the lake like me father, his father, and his father before him"?

Granny looked deeply into Paddy's, troubled brown eyes and said, "Because ye father, ye grandfather and ye great-grandfather were all born in December, when the lake is frozen, and ye were born in August, ya fookin idiot"!

                    MAE All,

PQ, Now I understand about your grid approach. I do the very same thing when faced with a daunting project. Start with just a small piece, focus on that until it's done, then move to the next small piece. This approach took me from thinking that it would be impossible to remove the old floor tile in the condo, to just chipping away at it, an inch at a time with my hammer and chisel. Occasionally, a large piece of tile would pop loose, and I'd feel elation! Those moments aside, it was a project that completely sucked! Never again. As for the front yard, and back patio, both spaces are serviceable for now, but could be so much nicer. I'll get around to it. Come to think of it, the grid approach is pretty much how I got free of alcohol, one moment at a time, and the moments made hours, then days, and now years.

Mick, One of the first selections I made was a wildly expensive quartz/composite countertop. My plan was to locate affordable remnant pieces until I had enough. Ultimately, reality caused me to abandon that plan, and I went with granite. It's the main reason why the kitchen sink installation took so long. It was painful to read your story of the explosive yeasty mix that marred your freshly sanded worktop surface. Glad you were able to fix it.

Pauly, I remember SK's video too now that you mention it. Cheers to you for getting your tree and lights up!

Det, that keto diet surely sounds like a good fit for you. I'm interested to hear about your job search in a new field, too.

I made a run on Amazon yesterday, and selected 4 books to give as Christmas gifts. That's about half of my list, so off to a great start.

                      Hello all -

Absentee Treegirl here. Just another whirlwind trip finished up -- for the moment. I just walked in the door and had to catch up,with my thread friends right away. Pi - nice to meet you -- I came to this thread on the coattales of Lav, Pauly, and SK. So thankful to be here.

Mick, oh nooooooooo! So sorry to hear about the staining (wrong kind), glad it turned out OK. Hope everything else is righting itself as well. Loved the story about the plastic bowl - that lass sure knows her mind!

Lav, can you share your etsy address, or is it your business name? I'd like to get some things from you. As you know, we just put Xmas money towards contributions, but I'd like some lovely thing to go along with the acknowledgement cards.

Pauly, so glad all went well with the family visit, and there's no stress at work right now.

SK, sorry for the computer problems. I am lucky to have a "go to" guy to help me. Yep, the past is an illusion, happiness is today. Love the unicorn description!.

PPQ, yes to the matching funds at work - go for it! The grid idea is a good one, I use something similar with my clients.

Det, thanks for the links - I look forward to seeing them and how they might work with my regimen.

Sam, hope music is wafting around you.

Completely restructured my regular clients to work with a "move crisis" person up here in the country, then she cancels and decides that she need me to do massive paper organizing in NYC! Sorry, no can do... although I'm trying to figure out if I can swing it. Sheesh. I already booked the pet sitter, thinking I would be gone all day on Saturday. Oh well. But at least I WAS NOT CALLED FOR JURY DUTY!!! So what am I complaining about? I work with clients tomorrow, then back to NYC to pack up HB and bring him home on Sunday. Onward!

Wishing all well and good for a grounded AF Friday ---

                        Re: w/c 25th

                        Good evening Abbers,

Det, I learned my lesson a long time ago about the trash thing around here. We actually had twice/week trash pick up in our old hometown so I was very spoiled. Then we moved down here to cow country & had to get used to one pick up each week, haha!
Are you taking more than the RDA of zinc? 11 mg/day should be enough which is what a multivit would have. When you go to higher doses, they can be rough on your stomach. With a history of heavy drinking very often supplements are not absorbed properly (yes, we do that to ourselves). These trace minerals are important for our well being but not if they make you throw up

Mick, sorry to hear about the spill on your counter tops, that stinks. I used to be very busy with Christmas business but I lost a lot of those customers & that's OK. I can't make everyone happy, can I? Ha ha. We had a tiny bit of rain today, big rain coming tomorrow which is likely to put us up to nearly 7" of rain for the month. We are already over 55" for the year, geez. I wish some of this rain would just stay to the west of us where it's so dry & burning all the time.

Pauly, you may rethink the IP at some point. You can use it in slow cooker mode if you like. But it's great for working folks who are short on time. Wish I had one 20 years ago, LOL
I used to go nuts getting home from work & trying to feed people coming & going on different shifts & schedules. Love the G kids Christmas pic on FB

Pie, I love my Amazon shopping too!!! Especially since there are no stores around here!!!!

Cyn, I don't have anything on Etsy since I shut down my business.
Message me some idea of what you would like & I'll send you some pictures/ideas of what I have or can do for you. Thanks!
I hope the weather stays clear & the roads safe for all your trips back & forth!

Hello to SK, Sam & PQ!

We bought an Amish Christmas tree today. It's going to stay outside for a while, not ready for all that yet. It's happy in a bucket of water.
Lots to do but I'm determined not to go crazy this year ~ so she says, LOL

                        Have a nice night everyone!

Lav, it's weird... the first time I barfed after taking zinc i was only 10. not sure what's up with it. Thankfully I eat a great
variety of nutrient-dense foods so I'd say I'm in pretty good shape for micronutrients and always striving for more.

PPQ, yes I'd love to be taking coursework in things that appeal to me (mental/behavioural health and graphic design both interest me). I just

Lets see... today I've applied for work at 2 mental health clinics, 2 fitness clubs, a company that rents mobile offices, and a nursery!
the nursery gig actually appeals to me... hmmmm. can't be too bummed out hangin' with the plants and shrubs outside for work.

                          SK, what's the latest?
                          Sam, staying in tune?

Dad called today to discuss his will and estate with me. nothing's wrong with him and he's a super healthy 73yo but he's just doing some planning and getting it all properly documented. Still an unavoidably heavy subject to ponder as I haven't lost a parent yet. hmmmm. it's ok. I'm ok.

                            MAE ALL....:yay: It's the weekend!

Mick...I learn so much reading your posts. Now I know all about St. Andrews. I think you have enough work to do without creating more. Sorry you had to go through that. Train guy will happen when it happens or you'll move on and find someone to get it done, I'm sure. I like the way you put it...Rabbits are booked for their holidays too! I've also learned a new word Stroppy, I'm going to use that! I know people it can apply to! Our weather broke today as well, only the other way. After a week of above normal temps and plenty of sunshine it's supposed to start snowing around midnight and continue all weekend. Just as well I don't have any plans. Like the Canadian Pacific train, it'll be perfect for the tracks through the Rodgers Pass. It was a great Friday even if there wasn't a card game for me to join.

Pauly...there's been lots of Insta-Pot discussions and apparently there are forums! Seems people are split on liking the slow cooker option. You can always have both. LOL As far as the no dinner last night, I'm not having dinner again tonight. Wednesday the boss headed out to do running around and when he listed the things he had to do I added lunch. What I meant was he would stop for lunch but instead he brought back pizza and veggies with dip. Thursday we celebrated 4 staff birthdays for lunch, I picked the restaurant because I wanted steak! It was delish and I was stuffed. Then today the chef was cooking a deluxe buffet for an event tonight and he said I'm making steak sandwiches for your lunch. Christmas came early for me. He sent home 2 steaks for me to cook for the boys tonight, I'm still stuffed. So I definitely have satisfied my craving for steak.

Pi... "Occasionally, a large piece of tile would pop loose, and I'd feel elation!" I know exactly what you mean by that statement. LOL I'm impressed that you actually tackled that. Do you think replacing linoleum would be easier? Landlord has offered to replace all my appliances but want a new floor for my new fridge and stove. I like the analogy of the grid approach and getting free of alcohol. I have used Mick's boxes to help me deal with many of my life challenges.

TG...it might be a toss up between you and Mick as to who is the busiest! We're glad you hung onto those coattails and are thankful that you are here too. Not knowing what you do work wise, and I don't need to know, I'm always intrigued with your stories. One of these days I'll tell you all the things I think you do. LOL I've been called for Jury Duty twice in my life and got out of it both times. Parking at the court house is the pits! So when you bring HB (whoever that is) home, do you get to keep him?

Lav...wow, you actually have trash pickup! It was a whole new learning experience moving from the city to the country and I did not have trash pickup. Did a lot of burning and made many trips to the landfill! That's one chore I'm not sorry to see gone. By the sounds of it you don't need to manually fill that tree bucket up with water, mother nature is doing it for you.

Det...you're right, get that income coming in and then get the course work under your belt. I can see your love of graphic design becoming an integral part of mental/behavioral health. Like they say a picture is worth a thousand words. I think it's great that your Dad is involving you in his will and estate. It can be overwhelming when the time comes and being a part of it from the beginning will make all the difference.

                            Waves to Sam and SK...

Looking forward to a peaceful night knowing I don't have to get up and go anywhere in the snow tomorrow.....:smile:PPQP

mae all....howare we then today? its pouring down with rain here strangely enough..not going detecting tomorrow got a fair bit to do ..I bought some worktop refurbishing oil yesterday ..its rubbish ..supposed to come up nicer than danish oil ...eh no!so will start the danish oiling tonight ,..but it never rains butit pours ...Van wouldn't start ..it was the key ..the remote chip in it has degraded ...so Ive got to get a new one ,and get it programmed ....a mere £158.....eek.

so lets have a brew then....

hiya ppqp...hows you then?Jury service?I used to be excused due to occupation but not now..no problem a custodial sentence will keep my friends in a job!!!ha ha ..ok here we go ..St Andres ..the patron sint of Scotland ...the blue and white cross flag is called a saltire ..the yellow one with the red lion on it ...its called a lion rampant as oppose to the english ones which are lions passant..St Andrews is a place on the east coast of Scotland ,the birthplace of golf ..
so you have got a few candidates for stroppy....

hiya det ...hows you then ?ok I hope ...strangely enough I have a keen interest in mental health and its issues..I did a course at university when I worked in the prison service ..it really did interest me ....unfortunately we are /were locking up more and more with mental health issues than crims..Cops and prison staff become carers as opposed to dealing with lifes deliberate dregs ..years ago we got rid of the asylums and sanitoriums because they were classed as inhumane ...the policy became "care in the community "another label for something that doesnt work ...so when someone with mh issues commits crime what do we do ..lock em up ..with even less help support than they got in the asylums...there you go ..my dspeech ..I wish you the best in your work quest mate ..

hiya pauly tree lights and no deckies ? first chrimbo me n Julie spent together ...she did a lovely tree ..and decorated it ..did a great job ...wasnt so please when I chucked cotton wool all over it..I thought it looked good as snow ....ooops ..hope you have a good weekend ..

After my wife died, I couldn't even look at another woman for 10 years. But now that I'm out of jail, I can honestly say it was worth it !

Got an e-mail today from a "bored housewife 32, looking for some action!" I've sent her my ironing, that'll keep her busy.!

The wife's been hinting she wants something black and lacy for her birthday. So, I've got her a pair of football boots!

Growing up with a dyslexic father had its advantages. Whenever he caught me swearing, he used to wash my mouth out with soup.

My wife asked if she could have a little peace and quiet while she cooked the dinner, so I took the batteries out of the smoke alarm!

Anyone got an owner's manual for a wife? Mine's giving off a terrible whining noise!

My wife apologised for the first time ever today. She said she's sorry she ever married me!

A 3rd of europe's fish comes from british waters.
After Brexit the idea is to keep our waters exclusively for our fishermen and up their quotas, so we don't have the ridiculous situation of our guys dumping dead fish because they are over the legal limits.
Obviously the french don't fcking like it and have said they will continue to fish where they like .
I say, fit our trawlers with machine guns and have the odd navy boat about .
We can have another battle of trafalgar and instead of chucking dead fish overboard it can be dead frenchmen instead .

An old Indian chief was asked the name of his wife.

He replied, "Wife name, I call - Tai' Shiko Waka Izdząą ."

'Thats unusual, what is it in English'

                              'It mean, 'Three Horse Woman'.

"Really, and why Three Horse Woman?"

"It old Apache name from the time before time. Name mean - nag, nag, nag"

I've yet to meet a Golden Retriever that's ever retrieved any gold.

That solved the problem. When she took off her clothes, she found lots of kind gentlemen offering to buy her dinner.

Mae everybody, ooh Mick I like when you separate the jokes like that! Sometimes I read when I'm still tired from waking up and read them as all one paragraph then when it's not making sense have to read again and pay attention haha why do they even make those keys with a chip? Mine has it too and it's a pain in the ass! PQ,all I can say is yum and I'm jealous I had some chicken, tortilla soup packets to make for dinner yesterday, shouldn't have made all 3 cuz I ran outta room, had to change pans 3 times and ended up cooking it in a roasting pan! Turned out good though,Det,I take those Cold eeze things and they're just zinc,,haven't had a reaction yet,was reading that too much copper can cause anxiety yet nearly ALL vitamin supps have it so I just switched to a basic adult women's gummy one,its very basic on the vitamin count, much love to all and wishes for a great BF Saturday!
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
