Re: 3rd September

Greetings everyone,

Nice to see the site back up & running again. Not sure what the problem was but I know my annual donation to MWO left my bank account this morning via Paypal, haha!
Super duper hot here - first day of a heatwave, 93 degrees today, yuck. Yep, I stayed inside as much as possible. YB is getting used to his arm crutch & it is giving him some support. He has doc appts Tuesday & Wednesday at the hospital where I worked. Getting him from the. Parking garage up to the docs offices seems like a 3 mile walk. So I’ll be placing him in a wheelchair & just zipping him where he has to go - like it or not LOL

Mick, your pics are lovely as usual. I hope you & Julie have a great week & see all the things you want to see

PQ, nothing like a long weekend to get caught up with stuff. I hope your winter is a long way off yet. We need some nice cool fall weather first, right?

Wags, hope your weekend classes were easy enough. I feel bad for the little kids going back to school in this awful heat. Stay cool

Hellos going out to Cyn, Slo, & everyone.

Have a nice night all!

Hey everyone,

Day 2 of the heatwave today, it’s ugly out there. My sunny deck thermometer read 118 for a few hours this afternoon. The actual high temp was 94 I believe.
I don’t know if I mentioned that 5 days ago a convicted murderer broke out of the county prison here. The prison happens to be near Longwood Gardens so it was closed all weekend. There have been 4 or 5 credible sightings of this guy, he appears to be heading south - in my direction. Wish I still had my 100+ lb dog, seriously!

Mick, your pics are gorgeous as usual, thank you for posting. I imagine it feels good to return to the homeland

I hope everyone knows the site is back up & working, would love to hear from the gang.
YB is pretty much messed up with severe nerve pain. I’ll be taking him to see his new primary care physician tomorrow & the pain specialist who handled all this 10+ years ago for him.

Hello to all! Have a nice night.

MAE ALL...high today was 10C/50F, at 11:00am it looked like 11:00pm outside. Rainy and blanketed in smoke. I did pop out to get some lunch supplies and found the smoke very irritating. I still continue to wear my mask when out and glad I did today.

Mick...love all the pics you've posted, thanks for doing that. Hope you can get into the castle tomorrow. I'm glad your weather is holding up for you.

Lav...118 WOW! Our actual temp is recorded at the airport, east of where I live, and can be very different. We were lucky to hit 10C today, I don't think we're going to see a fall this year. That's horrible about the escaped convict, you stay safe and pay attention to all news alerts. Sorry YB is suffering so much but I'm glad you've got an appointment tomorrow and hopefully can start on some relief for him.

I'm hoping this smoke will move out tomorrow but at least I don't work outside. The site has been frustrating but so far it's still working. Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

I didn’t have WiFi Up North, so couldn’t use my iPad to post. I didn’t feel like posting from my phone, like you brave ones like treegirl do!

PQ, you’re quite cold there in Canada already! The smoke in the air sounds awful.

Lav, my annual MWO donation went on its way in July. That’s pretty scary about the escaped convict on your area. Poor YB; his pain level sounds awful. Did it totally go away last time, 10 years ago? Was it weird being back at your old hospital?

Mick, that cathedral is quite impressive on the inside. What a thrill to sit back in your old seat from so long ago.
Yes, that was quite a kerfuffle going on on the other threads!

Wags, glad you have a nice blend right now of some work but some free time.

I had a nice weekend at the family cabin (ex-HB’s family cabin, that is) with D2 & her HB & their 22 y/o nephew & Huxley. Just the four of us. I enjoyed being with people, and back in a familiar place. Slept well up there, and really enjoyed nature and the warm air. But once a year is enough for me to go up there. It’s a long drive, and a full day of full-on cleaning & laundering is required on the last day.

And on to Autumn we go! (Except for PQ might go straight to Winter!)

Re: 3rd September

Greetings friends,

Day 3 of the heatwave here only 2 more to go I think., yuck.
The trip to the pain specialist went well, got him in there in one piece. I watched him get a big fat steroid injection, he didn’t feel a thing. Going back next Tuesday for another then will see if he needs an epidural which is what resolved this issue last time. So it’s wait & see

PQ, I will happily trade you, I long for 50 degree temps, haha!! You can keep the smoke though. Hope it clears out quickly for you.

Slo, glad your weekend went well. Sounds like a trip there 1X/year is plenty.
Yes, the epidural YB had the last time around did the trick, he was pain free for well over a decade. He claims the pain restarted shortly after the surgical procedure he had recently. Maybe he was moved ‘wrong’ while he was under anesthesia? Who knows??

Mick, thanks for all the pics, very special. Glad you are enjoying your trip & you have sun & blue skies too
I don’t think you’d find a Colt in YB’s arsenal, more likely a Glock, LOL. The convict is still on the loose. We had to drive through that area today, roadblocks everywhere, Longwood still closed. The trail cams at Longwood detected him running around last night, duh.

Hello to Cyn, Pie, NS & everyone.
Have a nice night all!

Re: 3rd September

MAE ALL...what a day! It was non-stop. Online requests for event bookings, people wanting to view the hall for their bookings, cancelling some of our programs due to low registration. The childcare directors appear to be getting along, now they're having issues with their staff. This younger generation has no common sense and their work ethics suck. I think the boss will get an eye opener with what actually goes on in childcare soon as they say there's too many kids and he had actually wanted to let in a dozen more.

Slo...glad you had a nice weekend and once a year sounds right especially with all the work you have to do on your last day.

Mick...thanks for the pics, they're great. Glad you're getting good weather for this trip. The smoke wasn't as bad today, the wind was coming from the south so some of it got moved on. Our air quality was too high for kids to be outside though. Tomorrow should see a much clearer day.

Lav...cooler temps and smoke are a package, can't be split. LOL Sorry the heatwave is still with you but glad you got all of YB to the doc's. Too bad they could just go straight to an epidermal but I suppose it's a process. Hopefully the convict is caught soon, stay safe.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all.....:smile:PPQP

Re: 3rd September

Mae All!!!!!

Yes, i am still alive - but I am one tired kid... i think I am getting the hang of things - and I love the fact that there is absolutely NO standing around, or inventing work to do. But it is very physical work, and I will be stronger and more able in the coming weeks. Also, there are about 10 million products in a fairly small space, so remembering where things are is still a challenge, but I saw a little progress today. I will have worked 6 shifts (8 hours each) in 8 days this week - plus my Homeless Meals work tomorrow, so I hope i will hang in... I do love the work and the people (some elders like me, but lots of young people as well, which keeps it interesting.)

My cognition seems up to snuff for the work I have to do there, so I'm putting off the MRI and the meeting with the specialty Long Covid place... I'm sure there will be related costs, and I need some time to get these work checks in before I can do things that are not "regular" checkups, etc. I will do the Cardio workup though... seems like my heart is working overtime, who knows. But it would be good to check that off the list...

Lav, poor thing! Between your tooth (hopefully better) and YB's terrible pain and a runaway prisoner, this sounds pretty scary. Glad that you live with a former police chief... that should count for something.

Mick, wow what adventures you have. Julie's list must be the same as mine - Lindesfarne is a place I dream of. What memories must have been evoked as you stood in the Cathedral... and going to be able to board the Queen's Yacht? Fabulous. (I hope you waved in the direction of Dunbar while you were in the area!) I hope the trip continues to be wonderful. Thanks for the pics.

Wags, CONGRATS on all you success with your students. And 100% for one?!?! I didn't know that was even a "thing"... you must be a talented and dedicated teacher. they were luck y to study with you.

SLO - glad that you got some time "up north" with family. I do understand about the pressures of cleaning up after just being there a little time... doesn't ever seem like enough time... Good job being brave and taking on that neighborhood party - I hope it all went well. Good luck with the knee.

PPQ - speaking of good luck, sounds like there are always mini-fires for you to put out... I hope all turns out well. Congrats on getting all those programs up and running!

Pie - so sorry about your heat - are things any better... I hope no big weather is headed your way - good luck with watering!

NS - welcome, glad all seems to be well on your return. Good luck getting back into the swing of things...

Sam! - so great to see your post - all going well for you?

I was so worn out on Monday (our holiday) that I didn't even open the computer... tonight is the first time I have booted it up. Today I worked 6 AM to 2 PM (half-hour break for lunch), came home and slept until 5 PM! And I'll have no problems sleeping tonight... but I feel so good about being active, seeing other humans. It's worth a lot to me.

I'd better post before I lose all of this - please know that I care about you all and that I am staying AF along with you, and I think of you every day... I'll be back soon...

Re: 3rd September

I can’t see TG’s post, because it’s the first one on a new page. After I post, then it will show up on the thread.

That castle is really something, Mick. As will be the Britannia today. Yes, I can see where being back in your spot in the cathedral flooded you with memories.

Yes, likely YB’s medical procedure under anesthesia caused this pain /nerve problem to be reactivated, Lav. So unfortunate to have this happen again! I sure hope it can get completely resolved again.

Things are hopping at the community centre, PQ. The managers of the childcare area are now forced to unite against a common “enemy” anyways: their idiotic staff. The boss could benefit from spending some time in the trenches with the children in childcare; see what it’s really like.

My knee is doing much better with the medical-strength BioFreeze! I’m not even wearing the soft brace anymore! It still aches, but I can do more with it now!

RE the cabin-cleaning: it’s more about being immersed back into old family dynamics. Like, I had no cooperation at home with HB & daughters with keeping our home clean & in order. Ex-HB simply doesn’t believe in cleaning, or maintaining or repairing. He & the daughters were ganged up against me about that stuff. And the burden of it fell on me, with no cooperation.
Their family cabin is now owned by ex-HB and his brother. His brother, and especially his brother’s wife, end up with the lion’s share of cleaning, organizing, maintaining, and repairing the place. The bro & his wife have to play the heavy in trying to get my daughters and ex-HB to clean up after themselves up there (same as my role forced upon me in the family home). The bro & his wife have been out of town all Summer, so haven’t been up to the cabin. Meanwhile, ex-HB & our daughters have let it get pretty dirty & slovenly up there -which left me having to do a lot of deep cleaning of a cabin /lake house that isn’t even mine anymore, It just brings back a lot of bad memories of the icky family dynamics -and that’s why once a year will be enough for me. I’m out of that now!

I’m heading up to help out with the three little grandchildren today. Gird my loins!
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Hi, all

Posts are missing here again. Slo posted this morning but it isn't here and in what I can see of her note on the homepage, she can't see a post from TG. So at least 2 are not showing up.

Between the problems with the site and some really problematic interactions with managers that occurred elsewhere, I'm finding it tough to participate. I don't want to simply disappear but did want to let you know that I likely won't be posting regularly.

I wish I were in contact with all of you outside MWO because I've come to care about you .

Thank you for being part of the group that helped me regain my life. xx, NS

An ex soldier beinheld on alleged terrorism charges. Clinging on to a lorry underneath..no one checked. That kind of sits with file in the cake stuff!!how has your day been,

Hiya ppqp how are you today?all quiet on the work front?hope so seems like there is some unwritten truce.have you still got all the smoke over your way?
