    MAE All,

Thanks for starting this week?s thread, Mick. Sounds like you?re back into the swing of things at home. Did the bunnies fare well in your absence?

Our temps have finally gotten more humane, ranging from 70s overnight to daytime 90s. Still in need of some soaking rains. Watched our Texas Attorney General?s impeachment trial this week. Despite the evidence showing embarrassingly bad behavior, he was acquitted on all charges. Votes ran along party lines. Is it wrong to expect better of our elected officials? Makes me sad to realize the state of politics these days.

Our professional football team has its home opener today. Planning to watch and throw a pizza in the oven. Win or lose, I enjoy watching football on Sundays.

Oh! PQ, heard an interesting radio interview with a former hockey player from Calgary, Clint Malarchuk. Are you familiar with his story? Poor guy sustained an injury on the ice when a skate blade sliced his jugular vein and carotid artery. Horrific! Anyway, he recovered physically, but suffered psychologically with PTSD, alcohol dependence, etc. It?s quite a story.

        Re: 17th september

        Sunday greetings friends,

We started off partly sunny & dry then moved into a few rain showers this afternoon. Apparently last night the outdoor feral cat had 4 or 5 new kittens, ugh. Can?t really get close enough to know for sure, don?t want to spook her & have her abandon her kids. I HAVE to find someone to take her & her kids off my hands. This is getting out of control to say the least. I went up my son?s butt a few days ago for not visiting his dad so I was happy to see him & the oldest grandson here when I got home from the market. I?m not asking for anything, just an occasional quick visit geez.

Mick, back to yourself I see. Good for you
Yes, I did finally agree to buy the car YB has been pestering me about for the past 18 months. It?s a 2024 Chevy Trax, it?s pretty nice. It?s smaller than the Equinox I?ve been driving but I like it a lot & love the screaming blue color Lol
        IMG_1843.jpeg

Pie, glad you?re finally getting a little relief from the heat, such a long & hot summer for you!
I did read about your. AG, awful. What?s wrong with people anymore?

Hello to PQ, Wags, Cyn, Slo, Sam & everyone.
Let?s all have a nice night

          Re: 17th september

I spent the day with my cousin, browsing her town’s Harvest Fest, having lunch out together, and visiting out on the balcony at her new place. It was such a nice day!! We lost touch for a good while, and it’s nice to be back together. She’s going through a (second) divorce, and just moved into a new rental…just removed her wedding ring a week ago; just picked her son up from his fourth alcohol rehab facility on Wednesday and will get him moved and settled into a new place next weekend…she has a young grandson and now a baby granddaughter: in other words, we have a lot in common!
Her son is proudly 45 days sober! I told him I was 5 years sober. I’m not hiding it. We need to be honest with each other about our struggles, and proud of our achievements.

That’s a bright car, Lav! The new colors out there are fun.
Well, your husband could use that kind of a day brighten-er when he’s in pain, so good for you for getting son & grandson over to distract him from the pain.
Oh no, more kittens! Isn’t that just the way. Too bad you couldn’t capture Penny in time to get her neutered.

I never played pickle ball, Mick. My long term struggles with the right knee made sure of that. But I remember Lav mentioning her friend’s wrist fracture, and I thought she’d find those statistics interesting.
My cousin’s landlord (who lives in the lower flat) has three bunnies! My cousin makes sure to visit and pet them twice a day. He also takes them outside some, one at a time, to run around on the grass.
I totally thought that was a picture of a beach!

Pie, that’s quite a story of a hockey injury to that player. No wonder he’s a former hockey player.
It must feel good for you that it’s Fall again, and you have football Sundays to look forward to.

PQ, I got a toaster oven for reheating food. That’s been working out well for me. Apparently the oven in my condo can be converted into an air fryer by buying an extra part for it, so maybe that’s what I would do if I want to air fry some day.

            Hi to TG and Wags.

Mae all - one tired human here? everyone and their brother decided to come to Trader Joe?s today - I?ve never seen anything like it. This store goes through an amazing amount of groceries per day (which we stock morning and night) but this was ridiculous. Thank goodness I had my mask with me and wore it constantly.
I came home and slept for 3 hours? woke up to have some soup for dinner, now going back to bed!
Off tomorrow, but must remember not to have any caffeine? prepping for the ?nuclear? heart test on Tuesday. I will welcome a day off?
Cheers to all, and thx for your posts?. More when I have a brain cell or two left?
              Cheers

Lav - love the color of your new car! Sounds like you are enjoying driving it too, which is of course important. Sorry to hear about the new litter of kittens though. What options are availablein your area for fosters, or a feral cat coalition or similar?

Slo - sounds like a wonderful day with your cousin, and how fantastic that you were able to share at least some of your truth with her newly-sober son.

TG - hope you have a restful day off and that Tue's test goes smoothly

Pie - the Texas AG being acquitted is a perfect example of how there apparently are no more standards for public officials anymore.

Mick - I hope all settles out with the meds for Julie's dad. And I definitely saw a beach, not a car door!

Long day today but started with a new student who has some very specific needs that align well with several of the curriculum pieces I've been wanting to create - now I have a more immediate need to create those materials, so it's a win-win!

Hellos and waves to the whole group. Happy Mondays here we come!

hiya wags you and me both no car just beach.Julie has gone to see her dad this morning so we shall see how he is .hope your day goes well.

                    Greetings friends,

Rain to sun today so not bad. Temps are good, high of 72 today. Went & got the flu & updated Covid vaccines this morning, wanted to get the 1st Shingles shot but they had a computer issues at Walgreens, figures. I’ll get to it eventually. YB is feeling pretty low & finally called the pain specialist to explain how this pain has traveled from one place to another since last week’s epidural. He really needs a new MRI but is being stubborn about it of course.

Mick, I had to look at that picture for a while until I saw the car, haha. It was definitely beach for me as well.
I thought about you Saturday as I was transferring money from savings to checking to write a check for the car. I didn’t like giving it up either LOL

Wags, sounds like everything is working out for you & your new students, awesome.
The kitten problem around here is horrendous because everyone has barn cats & none of them are neutered. There are several shelters & organizations not too far but I keep reading how they’re filled up & I believe it since this is ‘kitten season’ apparently. I’ll figure something out, I can’t keep them.

Cyn, the weekends are super busy at TJs. Just think of all the happy people shopping for their favorite groceries
Good luck with your nuclear scan tomorrow, I’ll be thinking of you

Slo, glad you got to spend some quality time with your cousins. I miss mine but they’re no where to be found anymore.
My younger brother’s kids have had drug & alcohol issues. He told me last night one was 2 yrs 9 months sober & the other almost 7 months. I told him I’m working on 15!!! We should be loud & proud, right?

PQ, hope you had a great day. Same to you Pie!

                    Have a nice night all!

MAE ALL...nice quiet DF day, actually had some time to work on the website.

Pi...I did know about Clint Malarchuk but have not heard the story. It's so sad when someone gets derailed like that. I believe our elected officials need to be held to a higher standard. Glad your getting a bit of relief with your weather.

Lav...oh no, more kittens. Yes, it is getting out of hand. Hope you find someone. Glad your son showed up for a visit, YB probably really needed the distraction. Is his pain any better? I love your new car and the colour is fabulous.

Slo...sounds like you had a nice day out and good on you for sharing your story. I know it always helped me to realize other people have struggled with alcohol and were able to deal with it. Toaster ovens have their use too. If the part isn't too expense for the oven you might enjoy it.

Mick...the top of my gladioli plant silhouetted against the fence :rotlf: That's hilarious. Did you take the picture anyways? I didn't buy the air fryer on the weekend but I'm getting closer to going for it. I'm sick and tired of cooking the same old thing. I'm thinking I can venture out to more imaginative meals. We've got a cold front coming through tonight bringing rain. Of course Wed will be steady rain because that's the day I have to go to the rheumatologist. I'll be driving my own car, son will take the new/old one to work. I will check it out this week sometime and start driving it to work if I feel it's ok. He will need to put new tires on it before winter hits.

TG...glad you had some down time today, sounds like you were pretty busy yesterday. Good luck with the nuclear test tomorrow.

Time to get dinner on. Meatballs and rice, I like it for my lunch leftovers. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

take care and have a good day.

                          Good evening friends,

Dragging a bit today post vaccines which is unusual for me. Could also be due to the lack of decent sleep the past several nights, haha.
We had another sunny & pleasant day in the 70?s, nice

PQ, glad you enjoyed your DF day yesterday. It?s a shame you don?t have more of them
YB is still limping & moaning but went out for a haircut today. He likes the barber so that cheered him up a bit. The kitten situation around here is ridiculous. It will be two years in March since Luna showed up with her first litter so I?ve gone thru a ton of cat food LOL

Mick, that pink bird looks SO dangerous haha!! We get so many different animals walking thru here I think I?m getting used to them. Of course seeing a goat or fox on the deck took some getting used to, haha. Hope your rain goes somewhere else soon. We?re supposed to be getting a coastal storm this weekend so it will be soggy here too.
I sure hope your blood pressure has returned to normal after that sudden shock!!

Hello to Cyn, Slo, Pie & everyone checking in tonight. Have a nice night all!

MAE ALL...it was a steady busy day. Spent a lot of my time updating the website. Couldn't figure out why the number of Corporate Members in the newsletter were more than the ones on the website. Then I realized one business still hadn't sent me a profile so I just went onto their website and created it myself. Sent the link to the corporate member and she all of a sudden replied saying sorry for being so late with this and sent a whole different writeup. Geeze! That was a waste of time.

Mick...we got our rain today so thanks but I don't need any. I'm glad you said hygienist not dentist as I would be getting pretty worried about you and your teeth. How frustrating about the car insurance, that would never happen to me. There wouldn't be enough money in the bank account. LOL Ouch for Julie's tires, I bit the bullet and bought new for my car 2 winters ago. I'll not be paying for son to put new ones on the car if he expects me to drive it this winter.

Lav...the lag in posts appearing continues. You posted 30 minutes before me yesterday and I never saw it. I even checked back before going to bed as it's not like you not to post. This morning, there it was. Sorry YB is still having pain, hopefully they'll get it sorted soon. We're hoping to get the new Covid vaccine by the time they roll out the flu shots, sometime in October. I'll get those and hopefully the SVR vaccine. Not sure if I can do them all together. I have to wait 1/2 between my biologic injections before getting the shingles vaccine but don't want to put it off much longer. I don't know if I told you that my family doctor has left the practice as of October. That's too bad as I really liked her and my original family doctor isn't able to take on all her patients. Luckily I'm ok and my original family doctor will continue to see me. Hopefully I can get in before December when I need all my prescriptions renewed. I can't believe it's been 2 years since Luna showed up!

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP
