    Happy October everyone

We had sun & blue skies here today for the first time in a week! Looks like rain won’t be back until next weekend so I plan to be outside as much as possible. YB hasn’t been able to tend to his veggie garden for a month or so now, it’s seriously overgrown. Guess I’m elected to go clear it out. He has garlic that needs to be planted & live strawberry plants as well. Guess you know what I’ll be doing this week. He’s still pretty miserable unfortunately & will be heading back to the doc on Tuesday.

Mick, your train setup looks pretty awesome! Have fun with whatever you decide to do.
Sorry about the continued rain, at least yo won’t have any drought any time soon. Glad Julie’s Dad is doing well.

Wags, I saw your post. I’m glad to hear your Dad is doing well too. I was busy creating a pot of Italian meatball soup & baking a pan of focaccia bread while the Eagles were playing this afternoon, they won Enjoy your outside time too.

Hello to PQ, Cyn, Slo, Pie & everyone.
    Have a nice night all!

      Re: 1 October

      Hello on a Sunday evening,

I had a fabulous bike ride again on this beautiful, warm, sunny weekend.
My mother is here overnight with me! She never tries to see me or have a relationship with me unless she needs me for something, and tomorrow she needs me to drive her to & fro the eye doctor’s (her eyes will be dilated), so she’s spending time with me again! We shopped, had dinner together, and then sat out on my balcony together during the evening. It’s like the relationship I always would have liked to have with my mother -coming rather late in life, and only due to her extra needs related to aging…but hey, better than nothing!

At least you’ll have dry weather and will want to be outdoors, Lav, as you tackle the garden beds.
Three epidurals worked last time for YB, so I sure hope the third time is the charm this time too.
Yum, I want to eat at Lav’s house tonight!

I really enjoy seeing your train setup, Mick. It looks so real! -like a real, bustling train platform.

Sounds like a full but good weekend for you, Wags. That’s heartening that your dad was already out in the common room, and that you got to take in a football game together.

Pie, our last dog (still ex-HB’s dog), is a rescue from Kentucky. That’s another area with cultural resistance towards neutering.

Up early tomorrow and off to watch Huxley!
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Slo - sounds like some nice time with your mom. And a bike ride!!! You and I definitely share that love.

Lav - at least you'll have nice weather for the garden tending. I hope the Tue appt finally brings some relief for your husband.

Mick - love hearing about your projects and seeing your trains. I'm already looking forward to seeing pics of the Cosmo Rainbow flowers next year!

Hellos and waves to Pie, PQ, TG, and everyone else who might stop by. Happy October everyone!

            Greetings friends,

Sunny & 80 degrees today, getting too warm for me haha!!
So YB will be seeing the pain specialist tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm but not for an epidural this time. The doc wants to try another steroid shot in a different area hoping it will hit the pain source. I’m going to be in a pain & mention a few ideas of my own, Lol. I really think some nerve conduction studies are in order (EMG) & also a new MRI. I’ll be sure to get my thoughts across. This is tiresome, to say the least.

Slo, that soup turned out good & I have leftovers
Glad yo got some quality time with your Mom. I sure wish I could do that too after missing her for 37 years.
Does your Mom behave the same with your siblings? Who knows why people do what they do.

Wags, yep the weather is good for tearing out overgrown gardens, haha. We still have a lot of bees hanging around though & they don’t like it when you suddenly tear out their hiding spots. Hope your week is going well.

Mick, sounds like you have everything under control as usual
The mushroom continues to grow, didn’t stop to get a pic today. Your cosmos is very pretty but can’t possibly be real, right?

Hello to PQ & Cyn & anyone dropping in later.
            Have a nice night all!

              Re: 1 October

MAE ALL...it might as well of snowed this weekend. It was cold, overcast and raining. Kananaskis, just west of me got snow. It's starting to warm up and the weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny for our Thanksgiving long weekend. Quiet and calm at work today, both boss and accountant are busy with year end.

Mick...I love those flowers. Going to see if I can get them here. We have a community garden member complaining about her daughter's plot. Says the soil is no good and nothing will grow. I sicked the President of the club on her and it turns out that her daughter wants nothing to do with the garden plot, it's her mom that's using it so she has 2. Well no longer. We are going to take that plot back and give it to the next person on the waitlist. The van looks great. Glad you're back in train mode, it's been awhile.

Lav...sorry YB is still suffering. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at your Tuesday appointment. I hope the Dr. pays attention to your suggestions. Sorry you got stuck with clearing out YB's garden but at least the weather might be ok for you. You watch out for those bees.

Wags...good to hear that your Dad was up and in the common area watching TV. I know it always gave me a lift when I show up for my Dad visit and he's up socializing with everyone. Sounds like you managed some down time this weekend.

Slo...better late than never. I hope your Mom's visit was nice. I'm so impressed that you do all that bike riding. Hope you get lots more days of biking weather.

Shout out to everyone else. I have to think about what to make for dinner. My insurance company hasn't approved my next biologic prescription yet so when the pharmacy refilled my prescription it came out to $1,600. Thanks but no thanks. I usually pay $0 for it. I've got a few days before I need to take it so hopefully it'll all get sorted out.

              Have a good night all...:smile:PPQP

Mick - oh wow those flowers are gorgeous! I think we'll have to try to find some of those here. Love the dog pic/joke too - very different expressions on the face lol

Lav - at least you have some additional suggestions/input for pain relief. I hope things turn a corner soon. I hear you on the bees too - we have tons of them in our community garden plot and have to be careful when we harvest or pull spent plants out.

PQ - holy cow on that Rx price! And snow! Seems so early, even though you're farther north than most (all?) the rest of us. I hope your week is off to a good start otherwise and that you have great weather for your Thanksgiving.

Hellos and waves to everyone else. Happy new weeks to you all!

hiya everyone else ..hope all is good ..some real bad jokes for you ...

What falls, but never needs a bandage? The rain.
I was going to tell you a joke about boxing but I forgot the punch line.
I'm not a fan of spring cleaning. Let's be honest, I'm not into summer, fall, or winter cleaning either.
Why did the egg hide? It was a little chicken.
What did the dirt say to the rain? If you keep this up, my name will be mud!
Why couldn't the sunflower ride its bike? It lost its petals.
What's an egg's favorite vacation spot? New Yolk City.
I ate a sock yesterday. It was very time-consuming.
What kind of candy do astronauts like? Mars bars.
I wanted to buy some camo pants but couldn't find any.

                    Mae all -

This moment I am making a blanket apology for not putting up daily posts (for awhile at least). This schedule of 4 full-time days of challenging physical and mental labor, plus my volunteer work, is so challenging at the moment that I am a wet noodle whenever I'm not working! I'll post as often as I can get myself together. Right now keeping my apartment semi-clean and getting the laundry done is all I can do besides work. I am slowly "getting the hang" of not getting so depleted at work... I'm watching the "young ones", and they take their time getting things done... I can't quite do that, but I see that I don't need to be going 100% for 8 hours straight...

Mick, kudos to Julie for a job well done, and to you on getting the Van in smashing shape. Can't wait to see more of the "new" train. Wags, I love hearing that your dad was up and around when you visited - I so wish I could see my dad again (passed away in 2004) even for a moment. Lav, looking forward to hearing how the doc visit went today - I'm sure you made your point, and I'm sure you were right on! SLO - glad you got some time with your mom, even if it was "scripted"... enjoy the bike!

I thought I lost this post, but then used "auto-restore" so going to post right now - apologies if I missed anyone!
                    May we be well -
                    TG

                      Good evening,

My apologies too for being away. My mother stayed over for two nights! (because she can’t drive at night) We again shared a nice meal together after our day with Huxley, then sat out on my balcony at night, while she talked a blue streak like she does.

That flower looks out-of-this-world, like it’s from another realm, Mick!
That picture joke of the bummed-out dog after his owner got a girlfriend is hysterical!

My baby daughter is in a world of pain, as she & her boyfriend just broke up after 1 1/2 years together. I need to make arrangements to go visit her at her college this weekend.

TG, interesting how the young people pace themselves in order to get through the long, physically & mentally demanding shift.
I wonder if you need to put your volunteer job on hiatus while you are working at Trader Joe’s? It’s too much of the same type of thing.

PQ, Mick is right: that lady “lost the plot” -haha! If she wouldn’t have complained, it may have gone unnoticed! Do you get a 3-day weekend for your Thanksgiving weekend? (I know you’re not taking 4 days off)

Lav, I’m sure it is getting very tiring for both you and YB. At least it is an afternoon appointment tomorrow rather than an early morning one.
I went to a chiropractor today who specializes in chronic pain, and I will be seeing her for my chronic knee pain and low back issues.

Tomorrow is my day to travel up to spend the day with the three grandkids!

                      Hi, Wags!

                        Good evening friends,

Believe it or not I never got a chance to speak directly to the doctor. I believe he was in a hurry to leave & disappeared into the way back of the office, haha. (Could have been a chicken move but you never know). I did hear YB tell him that he would definitely be back in 2 weeks if today’s treatment doesn’t help. I am going to push him into seeing another doctor, this is ridiculous. But on a good note we ended up meeting daughter & her family for an early dinner in honor of YBs birthday tomorrow. It was great seeing them & listen to granddaughter telling us how her day went. 7th graders are pretty wacky in case any of you have forgotten, Lol

PQ, Thanksgiving coming so soon, geez. I hope yuo don’t get any snow, I doubt you really want any at this time.
I haven’t started clearing the big veggie garden yet, just finished my flower beds. Maybe I’ll get some done tomorrow. Glad you had a quiet-ish day at work. Hope yuor insurance comes thru, that’s a shocking price.

Wags, I almost hope for a rain day so I can go clear the veggie gardens without any bee interference. They get so damn mad HaHa!!!! Hope your week is going. Well.

Cyn, I wouldn’t normally advise to ‘do what the kids do’ at work but maybe their routine works, try it out

Mick, sorry you still have to deal with rain, geez. Why don’t you go ahead & send me a day’s worth, Lol
The van sounds like it’s in great shape, congrats.

Hello to Slo & Pie & anyone stopping in tonight!
Time to go sit & relax for a bit, I’m feeling knida brain dead. Have a nice night all!

MAE ALL...My Dr. has ordered an ultra sound to check on the size of the cist I have on my liver. Some blood and urine work and she's scheduling an Urologist. I have had so many CT scans, scopes, ultra sounds and they've turned up nothing. Oh well, I'll do as I'm told. LOL My Dr. has extended her stay for another month so I'll still be able to get a final annual checkup with her. What a difference a day makes. Got to the office at 11am and didn't have time to turn around. Boss made a comment at one point "Look at you go" so at least was aware of my busy day.

Wags...although it's supposed to be cool and raining tomorrow it's going to turn around for the Thanksgiving weekend with highs around 24C/75F. My kind of temps.

Mick...yay for the habitation check yesterday, bet you were right chuffed with his remarks. Yes, the "woman" has bitched her way out of the second plot and if she keeps it up we're going to suggest she gardens elsewhere. The President is going to add to the Membership Agreement that rude and confrontational gardeners will forfeit their plots. BTW I did get the zero bucks option.

TG...perfectly understandable that you're not going to do daily posts. We know you're ok and will reach out if you need to. The younger work force just does not have the same work ethics that we grew up with, but you're right, you don't need to going 100% for 8 hours. If my auto recovery brought back my post I'd log off too. LOL

Slo...that's nice that your mom stayed over for another night and that you had an enjoyable day/evening. "lost the plot" good one! Yes, we get Monday off and the bonus is the boss is taking Tuesday off. Gotta love my DF days. 11/2 years is a long time to be in a relationship, sorry to hear about the breakup. Have fun with the 3 grandkids, hope they are all healthy.

Lav...it's just as well I didn't fly over there and stick to the wall. LOL I think it's a good idea to push YB to see a different doctor. How nice you were able to meet up with daughter and family to celebrate an early birthday for YB. I always think your Thanksgiving is so late. LOL It's going to be a nice weekend and I'm finally getting a fall, my favorite time of year. Insurance came through. The rheumatologist's office called to say they phoned the insurance company to expedite the special requisition and that they have samples if I want to come in. I have an extra dose, couldn't take it while I was in the hospital, so I'm ok. Before I left work they called again to say it's been approved. Will phone the pharmacy tomorrow, too tired to deal with it today.

I refuse to cook supper until the boys wash their dished. Haha Shout out to everyone else. Have a good night....:smile:PPQP
