    Life is good

    Hey All
Just touching base today as I can?t forget how being on this forum helped my recovery.
I?m doing really well and have turned out to be one of the few who can moderate.
I was never as insecure as when I first came here but with daily visits and the positive reinforcement I found here, I?m in a happier place now. I don?t have that dreaded fear of backsliding anymore because being able to log on here and talk out my concerns is a safety net unlike any other. Too soon? I hope not, life is too good sober
    Many thanx to all.
    xoxo

    Hi Shanny5,
Thats great positive news. I remember your avatar. How long have you been moderating now?
    Be strong-

Be constructive. Clear the word of CAN'T

        Hi Shanny,
There is a thread on Long Term Moderators that is beginning to pick up momentum and we could give each other support. Please think about coming aboard!
Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

          Hi Rebirth,

After a long period of abstinence (and time on meds), I really just wanted to be able to have one of two drinks occasionally without the associated drama. I think that's what most of want eh? I made some major changes in my lifestyle that would help with moderation and gave it a go. I guess I've been moderating for a few months now and have managed to have two drinks at any one time, a few weeks apart. I still go to counseling but really feel now like I've broken the cycle some how. The monkey isn't on my back like it was for 20 odd years. The fact that only ever having two drinks means no crappy hang over or guilt, is really liberating. It motivated me big time, sort of like a shining example of what I am capable of NOT doing. I never want that dreaded feeling of beating myself up mercilessly for sliding back into old habits so having said that....the future looks bright
