150g butter or margerine
200g flour
200g sugar
2 eggs
1 pkg/tsp baking powder
1 pkg vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
cinnamon
Apples (obviously - 5 or 6 large apples will do)
Optional: raisins / ground almonds / rum extract
These are the basic ingredients. However, I almost
double them up (except the apples) and have a
layer of dough on top of the cake as well.
So, you mix everything together, spoon your dough
into your spring form. Peel your apples and cut into
thin slices, layering into the form. Sprinkle each
layer of apples with raisins and cinnamon until you
are almost at the top of the form. To get the top
layer of dough on, either roll it out and place it, or
(this is what I do) add a little milk and spoon it,
then distribute it with a knife.
Bake for an hour, check to see if fork comes out
clean.
Let cool down, remove from form and apply icing
(icing sugar/lemon juice)
Yummm! NEEDS whipped cream!
