The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet

Just finish reading The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet. What a wonderful read. It is about a small artificial island in Nagasaki Harbor that in 1799 became the linkage between two cultures. Dutch traders and the Japanese. Jacob is a Dutch trader who is infatuated with a Japanese women. This book is beautifully written and good for the gray matter. This book I highly recommend.
