i'm on Baclofen, i feel better

hi everybody ;-)
here my small experience to share...
i inscribed to this forum some month ago just searching for Baclofen opinions... im reading my old posts that i even forgot to have written.. :-( ...and then finally start to take Baclofen quite 2 month ago (14 of January to be precise).

I'm on 95mg/day and, from the beginning of treatment i already feel better.

Before my life was a nightmare, as all alcoholics know... i was drinking kind of 10 beers a day (50cl / 5% of alc) in a normal day, in a party day.. i dont count them...

My history is similar to others, i'm sure... probaly i will put more details after... but... i start to drink as "recreational", to fight shyness and finishing on being in the tunnel of addiction for 20 years!

With Baclofen something has changed!
Definetely!
I'm better right now. I work! i do my things!
i'm not depressed as before and don't feel this anxiety that was attaching me to drink more and more...

All this because of this molecule, Baclofen, that did not cured me but helped me already a lot!!
Baclofen started: January 2013
Switch (sort of): April 2013 / ~165mg
November 2014: stable at 45mg: 10AM-15mg, 1PM-15mg, 5PM-15mg

Hi Hippyman,
thanks for your reply... ;-)

I saw your words in the interesting thread of Bleep and... yes... finally there is not a magic pill, i'm agree, but there is something that, in the biological way, can REALLY help a lot an alcoholic. A LOT!!! you know it and you test it on you.. no? ;-)

This is my vision:
alcoholics (as me) are simply sick and they need a cure.
Abstinence is not the cure!!! at all!
Baclofen it is... it can be! i know you are probaly agree with this...

Baclofen can be an help, its an help, i'm taking it and is already helping me to drink less, a lot!

Hey there, Emc--we've chatted past one another on bleep's thread, but thought I'd pop in here and say hello. Great job getting up to 95mg. I'm glad that it's helping and that you're feeling pretty good. Stick with it and read as much as you can around here. Knowledge is power.

i'm on Baclofen, i feel better

little update...

i'm on 120mg/day and still feel better.

My drinking its stable on 70 gr/day (it was 200 or more)...

I'm already 2 months on Baclofen and i'm going really slowly but i can confirm that for me is good like that.

I think its not good at all to go to too fast with Baclofen, thinking that it will resolve our problems.

Because simply it will not.

It will help to face our problems... maybe for the first time.

Going slowly i have the time to think about the causes of the problems... to adapt myself to the "new life"...

Baclofen its the best tool avalaible to fight with alcoolism but its not magic.

I have much more things to say, but... ok.. i will continue soon, here on in some other thread... ;-)

thanks!

It's the best tool I have found. Thanks to Baclofen, I no longer have the relentless compulsion to drink!

It's nice to read your good results. Congratulations. The slow and steady route worked for me too. It feels good, doesn't it? I look forward to hearing more.
