Underoos et al - June 2011

    Hello everyone!
Returned from melb on Mon - had a great weekend.
Arrived Fri lunchtime & nephew & hubby starving. Checked in to dodgy 'otel with 2 queen beds crammed into a closet, then went cruising Lygon st for some nosh - pizza at Cavallino's. yummo.
Fri night hubs takes me out to din-dins, at Hotel Sofitel's No. 35 - abso bloody lootely gorgeous. 35 stories up with breath-taking views, cos we bought our WA weather with us. Had very posh tucker but i felt alright as i'd bought a fair chunk of gear at diana ferrari's.
we were however still shaking from the near death experience thanks to the gum-chewing, iphone working middle eastern taxi driver who nearly crashed us twice up someone else's arse on the way there.
Food wise though : had pork belly then lamb for main. to. die. for. roolly.
Sat dawns - up early still on WA time.....more shopping to be done really. haircut at Edward Beales' & bought a beautiful Italian angora/wool vesty thingy at a typical wog boutique. Hubby & nephew take off to MCG for a game. i walk & browse til i can no longer walk & browse. go to Koko Blacks for best hot choc i've ever had, then back to dodgy 'otel. rest on bed.
hubs & neph back around 6.30. walk up lygon to this quaint little cafe : il gusto, complete with singing italian waiter downstairs. eat huge amounts of pasta, then across road for huge amounts of icecream. stuffed.
sunday : hubby had organised a horse & carriage ride through streets of carlton. sun shining, breeze blowing gently, loving the architecture. quiet on the streets also, & the few people we pass all smile & wave. another hot choc at Koko Black.
hubs & neph go to BIG GAME (Eagles vs Carlton) & i go find some mexican this time, stuff myself on chili con queso, then head to museum & correspond to bridgee lots by text. buy a ticket to king tut exhibition & wander round melb museum in meantime, loving in partic the Phar Lap stuff as it tugs at my heart.
the king tut exhibit was AWESOME. took me a bit to realise the items were REAL, not replicas. so it blew my mind. AMAZING. just friggin amazing.
out of exhibit near on 6pm, walk back to 'otel in the dark feeling only slightly unsafe.
hubbs takes neph to airport, i watch MC.
another dinner late downstairs, then up sparrows monday, jet off lunchtime, back Perth 3 pm.....check into yet another hotel but jeez its a bit better than the one in Melb, room service for dinner as we're stuffed, fell over getting into spa as no handrail & badly bruise my knee & thigh. mr b cops a fair eyeful of burger. there's a sign saying don't hang on to towel rails when getting into spa as there is a possibility of personal injury, so i don't but slippery surface nearly ended in breakage of bones!
so back now at the farm, just doing 500 tonnes washing, gotta clean up my camper truck as we've got a sausage making weekend down at Albany planned, so thought i'd fill you all in.
no pics sorry but didn't i bring some nice weather! it was warm, fine, just gorgeous!
    be back innabit you lot.
& we copped a bit of rain whilst we were gone. not a lot, but better than nought.

Um ... Raggsy ... should we learn to do periodic back-ups?

      .
er yes I should. But I've just had the little puppy do a search for me and I am one lucky Raggsy! I've located them in some weird folder that isn't showing up on "my documents" and is supposedly belonging to Mr Rags. I'm in the process of copying them into a new folder and then I do a back up, and if I find the cupcake recipe I shall post it to you. I have to go out for 1/2 an hour to take some dry in july printouts to Curves. They'll put it on the notice board for me. I may get a couple more sponsors.

        Beags, Beags,
        Wonderful trip!
        But no photos?

        I love D Effs.

How are the bruise? I hate wet flooring of any type. Mr Rags reckons I have teflon feet.

WOW! What a fantastic travel report, Beags. That all sounds brilliant (apart from the dodgy motel). I reckon your bloke's a true romantic.

Here it is. So bloody easy!

                NIGELLA?S CUPCAKES
4 oz Flour, Sugar, Butter, 2 eggs, 1 t Baking Powder, ? t Baking Soda
                2 t vanilla

Mix all together, spoon into paper cupcake things or your 8 hole tin and cook I thinkabout 15mins at 180 centigrade. I forgot to note the temp and tim when taking it down as it was on telly and I are not a shorthand person. Now that would have been a bloody handy thing for me to have learnt. Reminds me of that old old ad "Hello, I'm Judy Sutoir, and I learned to touch type in just 3 days...."
                ROYAL ICING
350 g icing sugar sieved, 2 egg whites, juice ? lemon

& for all of you that think i can't get my mind out of the gutter, i've also got to go flush out my gelding's purulent prepuce. noice. nothing like the smelly discharge of a horse's dick.

Very pleasant, sunny arvo here with beautiful light and lengthening shadows.
Our Ambo cover is through a state levy on electricity bills. About to change though... will be scrapped on leccy and moved to part of your stamp duty when you purchase a property. Just in time to hit us if all goes to plan shortly.

Trip sounds wonderful Beags! Wish we'd been there but obviously...and with Carlton not winning that could have been a disaster with our men...

Edit: How did you find Lygon street? when we were young - years ago - it was THE place. We went back last year when we did the Carlton Collingwood game and had dinner there the night before really nice night and food and jagged a free horse and carriage ride back.....but when we told the box of mostly Italians at the game they reckoned it is NOT good and there are better, more Italian places to go...

I guess we enjoyed it and it sounds like you did. I just wondered if it was an in Melbourne thing??
