The literacy levels in Saffa schools are shocking. We're very grateful that we're able to send the cubs to good schools. And to bed with a book in the evenings. I've also insisted that the eldest one take English as a 1st language at high school. Since it's not our home language, they'd be allowed to take it as a 2nd language, which is just not good enough for their work lives in future. Ditto with maths... he's starting AdMaths as an additional subject this term. If they don't, they're generally not able to make the transition from high school to uni successfully. The cubette had better prepare herself - it'll be the same when she goes to high school next year.

Thank fook its Friday. I have my race on Sunday which I am not exactly looking forward to but I am wondering if I can run the whole 5k.....actually scrap that. I WILL run the whole 5k!

Yesterday as a work initiative I have started going into a school once a week for an hour to listen to little children read. Its amazing how so many of them dont get the opportunity to practice their reading at home. Anyway its a lovely feeling doing this, I really feel as if I am doing something worthwhile.

Its called Right to Read if anyone else in the UK wants to get involved.

:l To you too Reccie have you managed any AF time Could you talk with your al worker again? I'm finding my al counciler very helpful and AA and of coarse here. I hate drink and what it does/ has done to me i struggle but never give up.

Not managing much AF time unfortunately, foxy. I see my AL worker every Monday in his capacity as psychotherapist, but we don't talk about AL very much....we've said everything there is to say. Good luck with your struggles. :l
