Today I ventured a little further afield into the General world an realised hell, there's quite a few Aussies currently posting. Once upon a time I used to invite people into the drawer but after a couple of attempts it seemed our lack of talking about drinking/not drinking/counting days/not counting days sort of put them off a bit. They were also a bit intimidated because we seem to know each other so well. So, I say, and I say it loudly ... anybody who wants to hop into the drawer, Undies or Ovaries alike, please do so. Don't wait for an invite. Check what's in the fridge and pull up a chair.

Froglette, its funny. I know when I first took the plunge into posting on the Undies thread, I was a little nervous. But...and that's the thing, just diving in and posting helped. A lot. And I think we all listen and respond to anyone who is wanting to talk about drinking. Or not drinking. Or just everyday shit.

Have to agree on Bridge's point about a pro-active plan too. Removing a habit is one thing. Replacing it with better ones is essential. Watched the end of a really lovely movie this arvo, Penelope. Quote from it - "Its not the power of the curse, its the power you give the curse."

But a lot of folk just prefer to read, and some aren't sure if they'll fit in, but i'm with you Frog when I tell 'em..... Just jump in and express yourself. No matter the topic. Unloading stuff and just writing things down getting it out of your head is often healthy.

Musings on Saturday morning

Bit early for heavy stuff folks but :
I know Ms A will probably relate to this.....
It's Mr S's and extended family attitude.
When I came back from UK was talking about the folks in the pub and out 'till 2am.
I got : " and would YOU not stay with them?" have a few drinks :egad:
Said in a kinda God she's boring - type of voice.

When we go to dinner : "what do you want ? SODA WATER?"
Said in a bored when will this phase pass - type voice.

It's ok day to day but becoming a struggle in social situations.

I refuse to come out & say I'm a problem drinker - not to other family members or friends - especially SIL:no:
I just won't do that to myself and have that tag for the rest of my days . Too proud to have whispers about me.

I know this is STUPID - but sometimes I think I need a spectacular event so that it's out in the open? Then the choice is taken away from me whether to drink ever again or not ! Would be easier.
