Huge congratulations to you and Mr. G, Ginger!!! You did it!!! What an accomplishment. Not only did you get yourself across the one-year finish line, but you brought along Mr. G and have your 3 sisters in your wake! Proud of you and happy for you, too.
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

I remember when your HB used to drink every day, Ginger. Thankfully you have a quit buddy now! It’s much easier to be on the same page!
So glad that your hand is functioning pretty well after that injury, Cowboy. Good job on the sauna!
I wish tiny homes and lots & neighborhoods for them were a thing here. That would be perfect for me! And so would a $50 heating bill!
That fire is scary, Ginger! How sad for those who lost their homes too.
I am up at D1’s house now. I love being here! These three grandchildren are just adorable! I am quite hobbled with my foot, but do the best I can with it here, and ice it a lot; and otherwise have a great distraction from it with these little darlings!
24 more hours for me, and all of us!Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Good morning cafe!
Ginger, congrats to you and Mr. G on one year of freedom! I can't imagine living in an area that has so many wildfires, and it makes me grateful that I live where I do.
Rava, I haven't seen a fifty dollar electric bill in years, and the same goes for the cost of groceries. It's tough when you're on a fixed budget but so far we've kept our heads above water.
Cowboy, glad that you got the sauna finished. What's your next project going to be?
Mr. J is going to help out one of our farmer friends with some field work today. It's supposed to be another hot and humid day so I hope that he'll be ok. I'm going to make him bring lots of water, and hopefully they will take a lot of breaks.
Twenty four more for all of us please...

Good morning Cafe. Ginger, congrats on your 1 year and also those pictures are something else. Fires are scary. Sorry that 3 homes were lost. When I say Tiny house I think I may have misrepresented the size. It’s not tiny tiny but 750 sq feet. So compared to a tiny house it’s not that tiny. My last house was 2500 sq feet so moving to 750 is quite small. It’s actually the perfect size for 2 people. You could call it a double wide trailer or modular home. So I hope that clears it up. A 50 dollar electric bill is amazing compared to 250 what we used to pay. Cowboy I hope you had a nice date with the lawnmower yesterday. LOL. Hope Mr. J stays hydrated on his field work today. My dad passed yesterday much to my relief. I made amends with stepmother during this awful time. She finally agreed to hospice and he lasted another 3 weeks in a vegetative state. I realized that we both loved him and were fighting for what we each thought was right. I have to let that shit go and move on. There will be no obituary, or funeral. He wanted none of that. I was surprised that I was not more upset yesterday. It was actual relief and not sadness. He had a good life. So it’s nothing to grieve. OK enough of that stuff. Got the grandsons for the night and we are taking them to hot dog night at the pool 2.00 hot dogs and swimming until 930 pm. I could have never done this in my drinking days. 24 more please and thank you. Hope everyone has a great Friday .

Rava, I'm sorry for your loss but also realize it was a long time coming and you are relieved he and everyone around him who loved him are finally free of the suffering. I'm glad you have made peace with his wife and can finally move on. You will miss him, but he is in a better place. The swim night sounds like a really great time. Thank goodness you are free from the evil spell of al and can be among the living in the evenings. I never would have done that either in my active drinking days. So glad that's behind us all!
Jude, keep a close eye on Farmer J. We are definitely not as young as we used to be. It's good of him to pitch in like that!
Slo, what a perfect distraction for you! How long will you be there?
Cowboy, counter space cries out to be filled, doesn't it? I have enough area for food prep for the two of us as well, and when we have company, we just do a bit of rearranging.
Ginger, thanks for sharing those pictures. I hope you get rain there soon!

Huge congrats on both your 1 year AF Ginger! Seems like forever to get there, but persistence and determination pays off. Sounds like you have your hands full for the next little while lol. Geez, too bad about those houses and so close to you to get the pics. Wildfires seem to get worse and worse each year.
Enjoy your time up at D1's Slo, I'll bet she appreciates the help with the 3 little ones and I imagine they love having their Grandma around to spoil them haha.
I don't have any bigger jobs lined up at the moment Jude, and I'm not looking for any either, they seem to find me though lol. Hopefully Mr J makes use of the water you sent with him, so important to stay hydrated in the heat and humidity. What kind of field work is he doing?
Sad news about your dad passing Rava, but it sounds like it was for the best. You'll have him around in your memories. 750sq ft would be considered a tiny house by today's standards, I don't think there are many houses built anymore under 2000sq ft. A $2.00 hot dog and swimming sounds like a great way to spend an evening with the g-kids!
I meant to ask you dill when your hay got finished and if they do second cuttings?
Amanda and Bruce are coming over this afternoon for some visiting time and have supper with us. Thinking it will be time for some watermelon out on the deck while we visit and then order in pizza for supper!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. ABC, that sounds like the perfect visit! Enjoy
Rava, I'm glad you made peace with the step mom situation and your dad is no longer suffering in that shell of a body. I'm glad he had a good life. In the end that's all we can ask for. Enjoy those grandsons. Its the best medicine!
Slo, enjoy your babies too. You're fortunate you get to hang out with them as often as you do.
Hey all! Will you join me in another day of freedom?

750 sq. feet is about what I was picturing, Rava. Wish they still built & sold homes of that size. They’re so big here in the states.
I can see why you feel relief that your dad finally passed. It was a long time in coming. That’s amazing that you made up with the stepmother, and could understand that she was acting out of love for your dad.
I’m staying another night up here. I just don’t feel like leaving. Using the tornado warning as an excuse to stay. Spending time especially with my (5 y/o) Beckett tonight! He looks so much like my dad…blast from the past. I brought “Go Fish” with me, and he loves playing it!
Yes, that sounds like a nice visit, Cowboy!
I will join in with you all for another AF day.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Rava, I'm sorry about your father passing away, but I'm glad that you made amends with your stepmother. I'm sure that your father would be happy about that. Sometimes we just have to let things go...
Cowboy, Mr. J is helping his friend with getting the hay baled before it rains.
Another hot and muggy day here with the possibility of some t-sorms later on. I guess that's what happens in July.
Looking forward to another day of freedom...

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for all the kind words about my father. It’s so much easier to let go of resentment and anger and just let it be. I probably wont really have to deal with my step mother or her daughters anymore. They live about 4 hours away. Im just glad it’s over. When I am on my deathbed I want all the drugs. Not tylenol. I have made that clear. LOL. All addiction issues are out the window at that point. Hot dog night was great and well worth it. Today will be another pool day with the boys and my daughters. We are riding the golf cart around the community and the boys follow on their bikes. It’s a great and safe way to wear them out. Slo, glad you are having a good time at your Daughters home. You sound much happier when you are with your grand children! Jude, hope Mr. J. Makes out well today in the heat as he bales hay. Ginger, one year is amazing. I am so happy that Mr. G is right with you. I am almost at the 1 month mark and think I will go for 2 months. Keeping my goals small for now. Cowboy, hope you enjoyed that watermelon and pizza with Amanda and Bruce and Bubba. Hi to Dill! Wishing everyone a safe and sober day.

Rava, sounds like both you and Slo enjoy spending time with the g-kids and daughters. We don't get to see all our kids as often as we'd like but sure enjoy our time with them when we do.
Hay season is nicely started here Jude, a lot has been cut and some baled. Another week or two and most of it should be baled.
Had a great visit yesterday with Amanda and Bruce. It was a perfect day for sitting out on the deck and eating watermelon. Bruce isn't the neatest eater when it comes to watermelon but I did feed him a couple of pieces lol.
We're picking up Bubba's mom later this morning then headed into Edmonton for a wedding. Bubba's cousin's son is getting married so there'll be lots of visiting done today as well.
Waves to Ginger and dill, hope everyone has a great Saturday!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

Cowboy, I'd love to have seen Bruce eating that watermelon! LOL I wonder if they make bibs for dogs..... The last round bale was hauled away about 2 weeks ago now, It was a bumper crop! Hope you enjoy the wedding!
Our first house when we married was a 900sq.ft. bungalow. It was perfect for a starter home. I wish more like it were being built these days. I'd be happy with a 750sq.ft. home for the two of us now. But Mr. D will not entertain the idea of moving off this farm. We both love it here, so I guess we'll be staying as long as we can.
This morning has gotten away from me so it will have to be waves Ginger, Rava and Slo for now and a wish for an AF day for all of us here!
Dill
