Good morning Cafe. Cowboy, the cabin is looking great. You and Adam are doing a great job! Mul, congrats on 100 lbs. Thats wonderful! We went to a little beach bar last night to listen to a band. I have not done that in years due to isolating from those situations. After finishing Gingers book about quitting the drink easily, I went into this situation with a different attitude. I did not even want to drink. There were so many people drinking and acting foolish that it was entertaining. Many drunk women dancing like strippers. Wow. It was definitely something to watch! Anyway, I am up early feeling wonderful. Thanks for listening. Wishing everyone a wonderful day. 24 more please.

Good for you Rava on getting through the evening without thinking you needed to drink, you don't have to drink to have fun.

I had an interesting day yesterday. I went out to the farm to unload some tools that I brought back from the lake only to discover that there was no power. That isn't all that uncommon out in the country as they seem to always be doing some sort of maintenance on the power lines or poles. I figured I'd run down to the neighbor's and have coffee with Tommy and see if they had power. Their power was on which seemed strange to me but I had coffee with him anyway. He told me that there was one heck of a lightning and rainstorm Monday night that lasted about 3 hours. When I went back to the farm I did a bit more investigating and discovered that the transformer up on the power pole in our yard was blown up! I could see pieces of it on the ground around the pole and transformer oil all over the grass. On the phone to the power company then to report what I found and then wait for the service guy to come out. He got there, took a look at things, took a bunch of pictures, and then he got on the phone back to the office. By 2 o'clock the repair crew was on site with the big bucket truck and a new transformer, and by 5:00 the power was back on. Now the environmental guys have to come out to log the oil spill, then another crew will come out to remove and replace the contaminated soil. It was quite the day indeed!

Wow! ABC, I had no idea a blown transformer created an oil spill.

Off to adventure. Hoping my bum knee holds up for the hike.

        I'll take another!

Looks like you had an interesting day cowboy; glad that you were able to locate the problem and have it fixed.

Rava, great job staying away from the booze. Changing the way we think has a huge impact on dealing with cravings. I agree with you about watching people make idiots of themselves when they're drunk. It's really quite amusing and it feels so good to wake up the next day with a clear head.

Looks like a trip out to the garden today, lots of tomatoes out there that need to be picked. Apparently, sauce making is going to be on my list of things to do.

24 more for all of us please...

The transformers have oil in them to cool the coils Ginger, so when the top of the transformer blew off a bunch of the oil got blown out as well.

You can send me some of that homemade tomato sauce Jude, that's one of the best things about garden fresh tomatoes!

Cowboy, that is the kind of interesting you could do without!! LOL All's well that ends well though.

We planted fewer tomatoes this year so we will not be canning. But we have had plenty for eating fresh. It is something I will definitely miss when the summer ends.

Rava, that is really great! Your story prompted me to get that book and start reading it this morning. I'm going to read a chapter every day. Thanks for the recommendation, Ginger.

Ginger, I hope your knee held up yesterday. and that you enjoyed the hike.

Mulburry, when I was reading about Hope there were some movies mentioned that were filmed there. One was Shoot to Kill, a 1988 film. So, I borrowed it from the library and took an exciting tour of areas in and around Hope. You live in a beautiful area!

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

ABC, I had no idea! That's an interesting bit of info.

Rava, I'm glad the book has helped. I bought the audio book and have been listening to it as I fall asleep. At the end there's a hypnosis tape that's nice to fall asleep to. Sometimes, if I wake up in the middle of the night, I listen to it and fall right back asleep. Do you have access to that?

We had a great hike to the Cape Disappointment light house and my knee held up! Braced of course We are going to try to get to the North Head Light House before we leave. You can actually go in that one!

Hi to all my pals! I'll take another day of freedom.

I guess it's just going to take me awhile to lose the weight, but they say that by losing the weight slowly, you are more likely to keep it off. We shall see...;
For me the biggest key was quitting drinking, being a daily drinker that in itself cut over a 1000 calories instantly. Other than that ,just trying to stick to regimented meal times and containing portion sizes. Dealing with multiple health issues too, I really just wanted to get healthier and I knew that was a big part of it too (ontop of quitting drinking). Now that my weight has stabalized it's a bit harder sometimes to maintain but I think my mild OCD helps a bit with that haha (if I gain a couple pounds I have mini freakout, haha). Just like with drinking I don't want to go backwards with weight either and lose all the progress I've made.

I am impressed and happy for you losing that extra weight, Mul. I bet you feel really good!
Unfortunately not. I really did think quitting drinking, eating heathier and losing weight would be the key but it unfortunately has done nothing to help with the constant sinus infections (and chronic symptoms) so I still feel like crap all the time.. Objectively my health (liver health, blood suger, kidney function, blood pressure) is better at least so that's a plus.

I didn't even know about that one! Here they are constantly going on about the original Rambo which was shot here, they just had some sort of anniversery celebration a while back. Ya it really is a gorgeous area with the rivers, mountains and wildlife. Just saw four eagles (2 golden, 2 bald) and a pack of vultures out at the quarry the other day (and an Osprey by the river); now that the salmon are spawning the birds of prey our out for a feast!

I'll definitely join you in another 24, Jude!

Ginger, glad your knee held up! I'm glad you are enjoying the lighthouse adventure. I may look into purchasing the audio version of that book. The hypnosis session sounds good. Years ago I bought the hypnosis cd's from MWO and really enjoyed them. Unfortunately, I lent them to a friend in need and never got them back. Her life was rather chaotic at the time so I should have known better. But her drinking was even more out of control than mine and she was definitely in need.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning Cafe. Cowboy, what a mess you had but I am so glad it got straightened out. Ginger, I do not have the audio book. I might have to look into it. The book has helped me realize that alcohol has absolutely no benefit to it. NONE. I am hoping to keep this mindset going. Hoping everyone has a great Saturday. 24 more please and thank you.

Mulberry, I'm so sorry about your health issues. I hope you can find some relief. Do you have a diagnosis? _/\_

This week is the international kite festival. Headed out this afternoon to check it out. I'll post a pic if I get any good ones!

I wonder if the MWO hypnosis cds are still available? I'll see if I can find them.

I'll gladly take another day of freedom!
