Rava, that must be rough for you seeing your Dad suffer with cirrhosis. We had a friend that had cirrhosis, and he drank like a fish but was in denial even after the diagnosis. He went through rehab but only because it was the first requirement of getting on a donor list. He really didn't think he needed to be there. And I don't think he was able to quit. He did die of cirrhosis and we still miss him dearly. I completely understood his inability to believe he was an alcoholic. This is a baffling "disease". I'm not sure I truly believe it is a disease. To me, alcohol is an addiction. Perhaps I'm splitting hairs. Whatever it is, it's a road on which I truly wish I had never commenced.
Cowboy, thanks for your thoughtful and well expressed post in reply to Ginger's question. I always enjoy when you share your thoughts. How's your train set up? Anything new there?
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.Dill

Happy Thanksgiving! It is a day for reflection and gratitude. And good old NFL football and parades. We are actually postponing our celebration until tomorrow because our son has to work today so we are getting together tomorrow.
24 more for all of us here would be gratefully accepted.Dill

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Good morning Cafe. Ginger, that would freak me out only because being Thanksgiving it would mean you really need your water. Yikes. I hope it was fixed quickly! Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Ours was a small gathering but very nice. I know today many will be out shopping. I will not be a part of that madness. Hope everyone has a great and sober Friday. 24 more please and thank you.

Hopefully the no water situation was resolved quickly Ginger, can't imagine being without water for Thanksgiving.
Sounds like you had an enjoyable and relaxing day Rava, I'll bet the food was great.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving today with your family dill, I'll bet you'll be cooking up a storm.
How was your Thanksgiving Jude, anything special happen? How is Mr J making out deer hunting? Adam and I are supposed to go out tomorrow for the last day of hunting season but there's more snow in the forecast for tonight and the rest of the weekend so I'm not sure if there will enough snow for us to cancel again.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. Cowboy, we had dinner with some friends and it was a good time. There was booze everywhere, and there were a couple of times that I was tempted but I just had to walk away for a bit and take a deep breath. I kept thinking that I would wake up the next day with a good dose GSR, and it worked. I hope that you and Adam can get out on the last day of hunting. Mr. J has seen a few does, but hasn't been able to get a safe shot in. He's going to go out this afternoon and try again. We shall see...
24 more for all of us please.

ABC, two of my sons hunt together every season. They both got their elk yesterday. It was a good day but they were exhausted. They both have deer tags so they are turning around and going back out for them today. This vegetarian mom always silently roots for the game, not the boys.
We had a delicious dinner. I'm glad I took that long walk in the desert prior but my knee is twice the normal size this morning. Not painful just swollen. Any advice besides RICE, anyone?
No black Friday shopping and no ALCOHOL for me! I'll take another day of freedom

No black Friday madness here, either, Rava. Yes, Cowboy I am cooking up a storm! Mr. D is helping. He's put the turkey in the oven and he's getting the ingredients into the Breadmaker for rolls right now. It's smelling like Thanksgiving here today! No booze in the house.
Ginger, I wish I had some good suggestions for you, but I have nothing beyond RICE. Hope it responds quickly. That's awesome that your boys got their elk!
Good luck to Mr. J today.
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

Good morning cafe! Not much happening today. I'm still trying to digest my Thanksgiving dinner as I ate way too much, but at least I didn't drink.
Ginger, hope that the swelling in your knee has gone down by now. Some days it really sucks getting older, but when you think of the alternative, it's not so bad.
I'm in for another 24...
