Good morning Cafe. Jude, I am so sorry about your sisters return of cancer. F Cancer!!! Horrible disease. I will say some prayers for her health. You asked if I can call my father’s doctor, the answer is no. Like Slo said, due to HIPPA laws I am allowed no contact with his medical team. I had a good relationship with my father so this very had to understand. Only my stepmother can talk to them. The hospital does have a special code for family to be able to talk to the medical team, but guess what only my stepsisters have the code. His biological children can not have the code. Talk about pissing me off. It’s something that is maddening!!! I can not change it so i gave up after 2 really hard attempts to consider hospice. I do believe he has been brainwashed but it is not my problem. The end is very near. She said using hospice is like putting him down like a dog. UM OK? You just cant reason with crazy. She is refusing to let him have morphine and has them giving him Tylenol. To me this is elder abuse. I blame the hospital for promoting and feeding into this delusional thinking. Protective services has been called by another family member. So far nothing has been done. I guess you can feel my frustration and total helplessness in this situation….Blocking them from my phone is all I can do at this point. Cowboy, I am excited for your new choppers. I hope you love them!!! Ginger, hope that knee keep on holding up for you. Today is the first day in a long time with some sun. Might head to pool for a bit with my kindle. I need to really protect my sobriety during these stressful times. 24 more please and thank you.

Jude, I am so sorry to hear the news of your sister's cancer. I too will say prayers for her.
Rava, that situation with your dad is so insane! I can't believe the medical staff at the hospital is letting that woman dictate treatment of your dad's pain. Unbelievable.
Can't wait to hear about your new teeth, Cowboy!
Ginger, take me with you to the mountains, please!
24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.Dill
Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

That's terrible news about your sister Jude, have they come up with any treatment schedule for her? Will you be going back down to be with her for a while?
It's hard to let go of a situation like that Rava, he is your father after all. You know what's best for you and maybe Protective Services can get some changes made.
Glad the new orthotics are helping with the pain Slo, one step at a time and hopefully you'll get back to almost as good as new again.
I'm not too skinny Ginger lol, but I did drop a few pounds during seeding and then no teeth for a week. I've never had to worry about my weight, I always stay around the same weight plus or minus a few pounds depending on the time of year.
Any more news on the reunion dill, how long is it for?
The dentist visit went well, he took out all the stitches and then put the new partial plates in. The top one fit like a glove but the bottom one needed a few minor adjustments. He said it would probably need a bit more adjusting once my gums were fully healed and all the swelling is gone. I'm still supposed to watch what I eat for a week or so till my mouth is healed, but it was good to have a smoked chicken breast, baked mini potatoes, and cucumbers for supper!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

Jude, I'm so sorry about your sister's reoccurance of cancer. I'll send prayers.
Rava, your dad's story makes my head want to explode! I'd definitely call that elder abuse. I hope you're able to disengage and protect your quit. Don't let that old bag take that from you. Praying for your dad's peaceful passing.
Dill, come on out and we'll drive up to Mt Rainier and have a picnic at the base of the mountain! Heck, why don't you all come!? Seriously, wouldn't that be something?
Hey, ABC and Slo!
I'll take another

It is just so maddening that stepsisters are given more rights to care for your father than his own daughter, Rava! This is the downside of HIPPA laws.
Just disengage and protect your quit, as you and Ginger say. It’s all you can do. You did your best to advocate for him, and now just let it go. Easier to say than do though.
Pretty good news on the partials, Cowboy.
Jude, is it your sister in Florida with the cancer recurrence, or the other one? One super scary thing about cancer is that it always seems to come back.
I am having lunch with a neighbor today.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for all the words of support about my father. I have had no contact since Sunday. It is helping some not knowing what extremes are being made to keep him alive at all costs. It’s definitely maddening. My children are witnessing this and learning from it as well. You can’t make this stuff up. Anyway, Cowboy so glad your new teeth are in. I am sure your mouth is probably sore still but at least that nice chicken dinner helped. Ginger, yes I would love to come on the hike. Count me in. A nice hike in the mountains to clear all my evil thoughts! LOL. Jude, is this your sister in Florida that you just vacationed with? Dill, hows the reunion planning going? Mr R and I are having a day at the beach today. I have started a good book and will sit in my chair most of the day reading, smelling the ocean and listening to the seagulls. Hope everyone has a good and sober day….. 24 more please and thank you

Slo and Rava, my sister lives in Wyoming but we just vacationed together in Florida where she has a timeshare. She's going to see a new oncologist at the end of the month, so until then we don't have much information.
Rava, what your stepmother is doing to your Dad is elder abuse. I can't believe that he is only getting Tylenol instead of morphine. That's just insane! Wish that I could be with you on the beach today!
Would love to go hiking with you all. Wouldn't that be a blast!
Cowboy, yes, I will be going out to help my sister when she needs me. We won't know much until she sees the doctor at the end of the month. Sucks being in limbo... Hope that you are adjusting well to your new choppers.
I'm in for another twenty four hours...

I didn't realize you had the ocean so close at both your residences Rava, enjoy your time at the beach!
That seems like a long wait for your sister Jude, a good way to increase worry and ramp up any anxiety she is having.
It would be so cool to meet up with everyone Ginger, and in the mountains would make it extra special. Maybe I should get my passport renewed lol.
Waves to the rest of the gang, have a good one y'all!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

ABC, I forget there's a border between us that even requires a passport! Hope you're adjusting to the new partials.
Jude, thinking of you and your sis. Sending prayers. Limbo sucks, is right!
Rava, that sounds like the perfect day to get your mind off the stuff you can't change. Hope it helps!
Has anyone seen Mul? Hi, Dill. Hi, Slo.
Only one thing on my docket today. A 75 minute massage. It was a mother's day gift from my son 2 and his wife. It will be heaven! I'll take another day of freedom to go along with

Late check in, as usual for volunteer day. The hospital is back to very near normal, just a few more bugs to be worked out. What a relief! It was really busy in outpatient registration today. I guess everyone needed to get their labs and xrays caught up. It was nice to be busy and productive.
Rava and Cowboy, planning for the reunion is coming along. I'm keeping it simple and focusing on the important part: seeing everyone!!! It's been quite a while. The reunion is just a one day event, but of course it will go beyond that for the folks that are coming from further away. But most everyone lives within 3 miles, and everyone's lives are pretty busy, so it will just be a one day event. Cowboy I'm sure it will take some time to adjust to your new partials.
I can't believe the doctors are letting the pain be treated so inadequately, Rava. It seems like malpractice to me.
Jude I will keep your sister in my prayers, along with Rava's dad.

I love massages, Ginger! That’s a good gift.
Got my hair cut & tinted today. The B6 toxicity is causing a warm tight, red scalp on top with lots of hair loss and coarse hair of late, so she treated for that as well.
Nice that you are enjoying a day at the shore, Rava!
A one-day reunion will be easier than planning for a whole week or a whole weekend one, Dill. Although still need some planning for the long-distance guests who will stay longer.
Foot pain has been hobbling the last few days as I get used to the new orthotics and deal with plantar fasciitis. Trying some plantar fasciitis stretching exercises now.
I am going to a niece’s high school regional soccer game tonight with my sister.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Techie, so good to see you, and I hope that you are doing well! Would love to hear what you've been up to.
Dill, glad that the hospital is nearly back to normal after what happened. How many hours a week do you volunteer?
Mr. J finally got his truck fixed between bouts of rain. His truck is too big to fit in the garage so he had to work on it outside. We haven't had much dry weather lately, so it took him much longer to fix it. So glad that's done and that we have 2 vehicles on the road again.
Not today...
