Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...

Good morning Cafe. Jude, I am sorry about your summer beach plans. Cancer sucks and gets in the way of everything. I hate cancer!!! Ginger, your talent is amazing! Really really good drawing. I hope you are able to continue with it. I would be so proud of myself if I produced something that nice! Techie, we are all excited to hear what you have been up to. Hi to Slo, Dill and Cowboy. Our beach plans ended with storms and lightening. We all ended up evacuating the beach full of sand and soaking wet. It was funny in a way. We all had to hose off outside before coming in the tiny home. What a mess. Hope everyone has a great and sober day! 24 more please and thank you.

The drawing looks great Ginger, I don't know how you find the time to do all the things you do. Hopefully the crafting went good with the granddaughter and I'll bet you enjoyed having Ben around. Never heard of that kind of surgery either but it does sound like some rehab will be in the works for after.
300 miles sounds a bit better dill, that's a bit far to get together on a regular basis.
Hope you had a good day with D4 Slo, has she been looking for work or does she already have a job lined up? Not heading for the cabin this weekend, all 4 of the kids are coming over tomorrow for Father's Day!
I'll bet you had a blast at the beach with to g-kids Rava, nice to be able to do that with them. We cross posted so I edited to say too bad your beach day was interrupted by the weather, but sounds like it was enjoyable anyway.
That sucks about not being able to get away this summer with your sisters Jude, but her having cancer is even worse. Maybe you'll get to see them all at some point this summer even if it's not all at the same time.
The rain has stopped for now but expecting a bit more today and tonight, 1 1/2" so far but came down nice and gentle so it was a good soaking rain, not a downpour. As I mentioned, all the kids will be here tomorrow for Father's Day. We haven't all been together for a few years so it's going to be nice to see them all again.Last edited by abcowboy; June 14, 2025, 06:40 AM.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. ABC, that's fantastic that you'll have all the kids for a visit. It will be an awesome Father's day for you.
Jude, I'm so sorry about your sister's health crisis and her having to go through this. Cancer SUCKS. I pray the treatment is effective and she's ready for a beach trip next summer!
Rava, sorry the beach day was a wash, literally! Next time
Dill, I take for granted having my family so close. I need to work on that and be more grateful. I see a lot of catching up for you!
Slo, enjoy your visit with D4. Any fun plans? How long will she stay?
Fires are starting to kick up around here. So far they've been extinguished quickly. Fingers crossed, we need rain.
My little sister turns 65 tomorrow so we are lunching today. I made her a hanging planter out of an old Tiffany lamp shade. I love it. I hope she does. I'll take another day of freedom!

I had a very nice day with D4! Yesterday we sat in the sun together, then went out for ice cream and a little shopping. My foot held up adequately thankfully so she could shop in a few little stores, but then it was done; so we watched the rest of a fun series together and then a movie. It is so comforting to have her here!
She leaves on Monday for Europe for 5 weeks, and then she starts her new job at the beginning of August.
Oh, I’m so glad that you have all of your kids coming over this weekend, Cowboy, and you will all be together!
What a clever gift you have made for your sister, Ginger! The dog’s face turned out well in the pet portrait too.
I was wondering if your upcoming vacation with your sisters was going to be upended by the cancer diagnosis, Jude. Shoot.
Too bad beach day #2 wasn’t as idyllic, Rava!
How did the bread turn out, Dill?
hope I can keep going today on little sleep -grad party for nephews, and then babysitting Huxley.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Does Canada have a Father's Day, Cowboy? Happy Father's Day to you. Enjoy you day with your kids!
Slo, the bread turned out great! Thanks for asking. My gdaughter was over for lunch and really enjoyed it, too.
Ginger, I wish I had a 10th of your talent! I tried a paint by number yesterday and found it extremely challenging.
Rava, funny image of your day at the beach...
Jude, I'm with you, looking forward to another day.
Carpe diem!Dill

Yep, it's Father's Day in Canada as well dill. The kids are all supposed to start showing up sometime after lunch. Everyone is here for supper and Brandie (Vancouver) and Ashley (Calgary) will be spending the night with us.

Happy Father’s Day, Cowboy!! I know you will enjoy your special day.
OMG, my alcoholic brother is pure yellow now…his skin is all yellow, the whites of his eyes are all yellow, and he has lost significant weight. It’s just ghastly, and such a shock as when I was out there visiting and playing cards with him & his sons in April, he didn’t look like this!
I thought my 50 y/o brother would make it into his early 60s, but now it’s looking like he won’t make it through his early 50s. Well, his illness explains why he hasn’t been attending his daughter’s soccer games or his sons’ graduation.
I feel bad for his three kids, as they lost their mother to breast cancer when they were kids, and now they are losing their dad too, and they won’t have any parents.
My foot is in just terrible pain. I will have to ditch these orthotics, for starters.
My former sister-in-law is coming today to visit for three days and “laugh” together and recapture old times. She was my drinking buddy…I don’t think it will be the same, and I’m too hobbled to be able to do anything.
But, I will stay the course.Last edited by Slo; June 15, 2025, 08:07 AM.Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Sounds perfect, ABC! Happy Father's Day. Thanks for breakfast!
We are going to our oldest son's place this afternoon for dinner. My great grands will be there so I'm hoping it's warm enough for some pool time!
I'm doing my first diamond art piece. It's very relaxing. It was a gift. I'm not sure, on my own, I'd ever tried it.
Hi Slo, Jude, Rava and Dill. Let's all have a great AF day. I'll definitely take another.

Good morning all!
Slo, I'm sorry about your brother's health issues. Is he still drinking? We should all be grateful that we quit drinking when we did, and it's a good reminder never to start again.
Ginger, I've never tried diamond painting but it looks fun. I'm doing a paint by number now that I bought through a company called Masterpiece by numbers. They have an awesome variety of pictures to paint, and the quality of their products is excellent. I would highly recommend them.
Twenty four hours for all of us please...

Good morning Cafe. I was MIA yesterday after slipping on Saturday. I will not go into details but let’s just say I messed up. Yesterday I was miserable. Enough said. I am better after spending most of the day in bed yesterday. Today I’m back to the gym and back to my routine. I was not even going to mention it but we are here for honesty and support. I feel like the only one in here that messes up. UGH. Today is a new day to make it right. Cowboy, I am glad you had company over for Fathers Day and hope you enjoyed it. Ginger I love diamond painting and I just finished a turtle last week. It’s very relaxing for sure! Slo, I am glad you had a good time with D4. Hoping your time with your sister in law is fun. Hi to Jude, Dill and Techie. Wishing everyone a good and sober day. 24 more for me please!
