Cowboy, Mr J hasn't been hunting in a few days due to the hot weather. He likes to hang the deer for a couple of days before processing the meat but with the warm weather it would surely start to decompose. The weather is supposed to get much cooler this week and we even have a frost warning for tonight.
Ginger and Rava, sounds like you snowbirds will be flying south pretty soon. It must be a lot of work getting ready for the trip, but I'm sure that it's worth it to ditch the snow and cold for warmer climates.
Dill, we also had a lot of rain the other night which we really needed.
Yesterday we picked the last of the veggies in the garden. I had a bunch of tomatoes so I made tomato soup in the slow cooker and it came out yummy.
24 more for all of us please...

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

Elk are quite a bit bigger dill, we've been seeing more and more of them in are area as each year passes. I'm thinking I'll put in for a bull elk draw next year. Don't think I'll still be hunting at that lady's age though, especially on horseback lol.
I understand about hanging the animal and warm weather Jude, we usually don't have to worry about that up here, only worry about it freezing lol. Bubba is slowly cleaning out all her flower beds as they didn't fare well with the few nights of frost we've had.
Waves to Rava and Ginger!
Got the camper all winterized yesterday and the water line blown out so the farm is ready for winter. Just a few things left to do around the house here in Veg and my fall chores will be done.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. Good morning Cafe. That is some story about that elderly woman getting an elk on horseback. She is quite a role model for the rest of us. We are getting ready for a nor’easter this weekend. UGH. Lots of rain and wind expected. We are supposed to get new fencing on Monday but I guess that won’t be happening. Hope everyone has a sober thursday. No stinking drinking for me.

I wonder if hunting will lose popularity with the younger generations. I can't imagine some of them working that hard for food.
Rava, baton down the hatches! I saw that nor'easter on the news. I hope it goes through farther off the coast from all of you!
Jude, I think you work wwwaaaayyyy harder on your garden than I do closing down our place to leave! Your soup sounds delicious. You too, Dill. Enjoy your bounty this winter.
ABC, it must feel good to get everything winterized for the season. When we leave our place in AZ, we have to summerize. Lol The people that watch it for us, have it all opened up when we get there.
I didn't get to see my littles yesterday because they've picked up a bug. I leave Saturday for our fall sister trip so I stayed away. I'll have to see them twice next week to make up for it.
It's a good day for a good day! I'll take another.

Ginger, yes the garden is a lot of work and I think that next year we will have a much smaller one. At one time we had three large gardens and it was just way too much work.
I think that you're right about there being less young people interested in hunting. It takes a lot of time, work and patience. I think that many of the younger generation would rather hunt via video games, but that won't put meat on the table!
It's a frosty morning at 30 degrees but it's supposed to warm up into the 60's later on.
Rava, hope that the nor'easter doesn't affect you too much. We are likely going to get some rain out of it but nothing like the people living on the coast. Stay safe!
Cowboy, glad that you got all of your fall chores done, now all that you have to do is get the snow shovel ready for work.
Waves to dill and Mul!
Not today...

We're the same temp this morning as you Jude, seems like most mornings are at or just below freezing for us now. Smaller garden space would definitely mean less work as long as you have enough bounty to tide you over for the winter.
There are definitely way fewer hunters up in our area Ginger, and very rarely do we see young people out hunting. I think it's because there are way to many other things for them to do and most don't have the patience that's required to sit or walk quietly all day waiting for the opportunity to fill a tag. And yes, it's nice to know that everything at the farm is all ready for winter.
Looks like you'll have to keep yourself busy with indoor activities this weekend Rava if the storm hits you.
Hopefully you got all rested up once you got home dill, sounds like you had a busy day at the hospital.
It's Thanksgiving Weekend in Canada this weekend and all the kids will make it back for a visit. We won't get to see them all in the same day, but will get a visit in with them all over the next few days either here or at Adam and Darcie's place.

Good morning Cafe. The storm is supposed to hit us. We have been advised to leave our mobile homes by the county. So far we are staying. Jesus owning two coastal homes can be stressful. We are here to get away from Florida. DUH. Anyway, Cowboy, glad your farm work is done. Its has to be such a relief! Dill, hope you are rested up from your busy volunteer day. Hi to Jude and Mul! Ginger, hope you have a wonderful sister weekend. Going out to lunch today with my daughter who is furloughed from her job due to the government shutdown. Waves to everyone. 24 more please. No drinking for me nor’easter or not…..

Rava, how long will you wait to evacuate? Enjoy your lunch with your daughter. Please tell her thanks for her service. I'm so sorry this is happening to so many people.
ABC, happy upcoming Thanksgiving! Enjoy your visits with your kids. Oh and give Bruce a belly rub for me.
Jude, my sons still drag there kids out to hunt. I doubt the grands will carry on once their dads stop hunting. Just my guess.
Dill, what made your day so tiring? Was it really busy? Are you still at the check in desk? Curious
Hey Mul! Gorgeous fall weather here. You?
Off to exercise, then lunch with an old work buddy. I'm tired just thinking about it. Sleepless night with this knee throbbing. Counting my blessings though! I have so many. I'll take another day!

It's a scary thing having that storm bearing down on you, Rava! It's definitely one of the drawbacks to coastal living. Hope you get thru it safe and sound.
Ginger, I'm not sure why I was so tired, really, but I think I didn't get enough sleep the night before. That, and it was particularly busy and I was on my feet more than usual. I hope you have a great time with your sisters!!
Jude, you seem to be quite the homemaker! I think, like hunting, it is a dying profession. It's amazing to me how much space in the grocery is taken up with convenience foods now, isn't it?
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Bubba, Cowboy! How great to get to see your kids this weekend! How about the other Bruce? Will he be visiting as well?
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Mul!
24 more for all of us please and thank you.
Dill

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to those in Canada. Curious to as do you eat turkey like the US? Or is it a different menu. Going to head out to Walmart for some last minute items. I have my lanterns, water , candles, I need to charge up my battery packs , etc. Storm is supposed to hit tonight into Tuesday. We are not planning to evacuate yet. If we have to we have lots of family nearby and more inland. So it’s not like we need a hotel. I will not be buying any alcohol today. Wishing everyone a wonderful Saturday!
