The weather was wet and windy and basically miserable for our walk yesterday, but we were set up under the roof of a shelter house so stayed dry for the most part. At the scheduled time for the actual walk, the clouds parted and we had some sun! Isn't that wonderful?! The event raised about $25,000 and all proceeds go directly to cancer patients in need. The turnout of walkers was low this year due to the weather, but that didn't affect the bottom line. Registrations were paid even if the participant decided to stay at home. There were several corporate and community sponsors. I'm really proud to be able to contribute my time as a volunteer from the hospital. Our Auxiliary makes a monetary contribution as well. My granddaughter loves participating and feeling like she is helping cancer patients. She did a wonderful job yesterday.

Cowboy, don't overdo it! We just had our furnace serviced last week and are confident that it is ship-shape for winter. The service man had an unpleasant surprise when during the course of his work he came across an active wasp nest! He said he comes across all kinds of situations like that in his work though. He took it in stride.

Ginger, I hope your outreach to QW bears results. I'd love to hear from him too! I wonder what happened to Techie?

Rava those motion sensing closet lights are a grand idea! Mr. D loves tinkering with electronics and he actually made a light that comes on when we open the door to step out into the garage. It is a motion sensing light that is an led. It works like a charm and now we don't have to worry about tripping over the dog in the dark (who naturally loves to lie in front of the step up to the door. I think I'll suggest a couple other places we need lighting and see if he wants to take on another project.

Jude, glad you are almost 100%. Don't push yourself too soon.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.

    Dill

I too would love to hear from QW, Techie and Slo and I hope that everything is OK with them.

Another short night in the sleep department and it looks to be a long day.

24 more for all of us please...

Good morning Cafe. Ginger, thanks for clearing that up for me regarding your travel north or south. I am sure a 22 hour trip is grueling. I am exhausted just thinking about it. How long do you stay in Arizona? Dill glad your walk was for the most part successful and your gr daughter got to help. Great for her to learn about helping different causes. Jude, hope you get some sleep tonight. Nothing like not sleeping to ruin your entire day. Cowboy hope you dont work too hard today!! Wishing everyone a safe and sober day. 24 more please and thank you.

I don't envy you that drive Ginger, 14 hours is about all I can handle in a vehicle. Not so bad when you break it up over a couple of days though.

I like the "cool white" led lights as well Rava, they are way brighter than the "soft white" and don't have that yellowish tinge. I've converted most of the light bulbs in our house to the cool white led's.

Sounds like the fund raising went very well dill and so nice of your granddaughter to get involved as well. And yes, I've also run into some hair-raising situations over the years doing service calls and repair work lol.

Best get in a couple of naps today then Jude if you didn't get much sleep last night, being run down and tired doesn't help when recuperating.

I didn't work too hard yesterday, went out and winterized that summer farm house which doesn't involve much physical labor, just a bunch of driving lol. Supposed to rain today according to the forecast so I doubt Corey will want to work outside today on setting up the new stock waterer. Probably will be a job for tomorrow or Thursday.

ABC, I haven't heard a cabin update lately. Did you and Adam get it done? I may have missed it.

Jude, definitely get a nap, if you can. Is coughing keeping you awake?

Dill, you have a special relationship with gdaughter. It's wonderful. What a great cause to share with her.

Rava, before we started talking about selling, we were going to start flying back and forth. Hubby dislikes flying but was going to take one for the team. He doesnt mind the drive at all.

Hi Mul, I bet you're enjoying this wonderful fall weather!

No word back from QW. I hate this part of anonymity. My head makes up bad stuff. Here's to only good things for QW, Techie and Slo.

I'll take another day of freedom!

Super late check in for me today. I had to do fasting blood work so I got up and went as early as possible so I could get it over with and get my morning coffee! I then had a dentist cleaning and checkup and wouldn't you know that darned Dentist found two cavities. One on a heavily used molar is going to need a crown. YUK. That happens next week.

I don't envy either of you the long treks to your winter homes, Ginger and Rava. But I'm sure it's worth the effort!!

I hope you get some good weather for the stock waterer project, Cowboy.

And Jude, Cowboy is right: Naps are in order for the day!

When I got back home I had to do my house chores and so am just now taking a rest.

24 more for all of us here, please and thank you.
