Late check in for me here this morning. And I was surprised to see that I did not check in yesterday! The reason I was so surprised is because I wrote a post. I remember very clearly writing it. But I must have forgotten to press the magic "Post Reply" button! LOL! Lucky for me the contents were still there and all I had to do was click on the "restore" button at the top of the message window. So, for today, let's all have another 24!

And here is what I thought I posted yesterday:

Cowboy and Mul, I'm sorry you both seem to be having really rotten weather so far. Sure hope it lightens up for you.

Rava, I think you and I are having the same weather. Very windy here and yesterday's rain turned to snow. But just a trace. We're supposed to be in for a warm up in the next few days. I hope that comes your way!

Jude, glad Peanut came through her surgery so well. It is amazing how well they do.

Ginger, I still give Lily and Pumpkin supervised time together, usually with Lily on leash, but sometimes I let her off leash if she is showing a calm demeanor. I have not given up on getting them to be friends, but I did take a break during the summer. They are able to be around each other for about 10-15 minutes without a major incident! I try to end our sessions without any dustups having happened. I do it in a small room where the cat feels comfortable. and there's no place for the cat to take off running, so the dog isn't given the opportunity to chase. Slow going, but there is progress. Kinda like your knee.... I'm sure your knee will heal up LOOOONG before Lily and Pumpkin become friends!

    Not today.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Sadly the older we get the more common this becomes.
My mom and I were just talking about this the other day, how at her age too often news from long lost friends and relatives is about them passing away. A sad fact of life.

We've now gone from storms, back to just normal rain. Beggars can't be choosers I guess. Yesterday, I even said "screw it" and got a short hike in, anyways.

Can't believe we're only a few days from christmas now, it sneaks up on you so fast.

Yes Mul, I agree that Christmas really does sneak up on you. I've got all of my shopping done, now all that I need is the motivation to wrap the presents.

Dill, it sounds like you are doing a good job trying to get Lily and Pumpkin to get along. I know that it takes a lot of patience and time, but it sounds as though you are making progress.

Cowboy, so far this year we have had 41 inches of snow, but the heavy rain that we had the other has melted most of it. It's definitely early in the season to have this much snow and I wonder how much we will get by the end of winter.

        Waves to Rava and Ginger!

        24 more please...

5:15am in Alberta, 24 for me and everyone else who needs them please, and thanks...

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

You might eventually get Lily and Pumpkin to put up with each other dill, not sure if you'll ever get them to be friends though lol.

Our weather has settled a bit as well Mulburry, bitter cold for Christmas as usual with just a bit of snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

Wow, that's a lot of snow Jude! We'd never be able to handle that much snow without loading and trucking it somewhere. We do need snow for the moisture, but not 4 feet of it!

The fellow with the skid steer was here yesterday and pushed the snowbanks into the middle of the lawn, so hopefully I'll have room to shovel now for the rest of the winter.

              Waves to Ginger and Rava...

Good morning! Wow that is some snow Cowboy. Glad your friend had a little bobcat to help move some of that. I just cant imagine. No snow here just cold and wind. I am gonna make scrapple this morning. Thin and crispy. I cannot find it in Florida so we make up for it when we come north. Hope everyone has a great and sober day. Preparing myself for the week of not drinking while everyone else over indulges. UGH.

Dill, I'm glad those two furbabies are still tolerating each other! Dogs are funny people. Some have such a strong "cat" instinct they just can't get past it. Cyrus has slapped a few of them around here, when they've stuck their noses too close to his stroller. Lol

ABC, yummy breakfast as usual! That little Cat makes short work of pushing that snow, eh?

Rava, how are you feeling? Hi Jude, HI Mul!

I'll take another day of freedom!

                  Comment

Jude and Ginger, you are right that Lily and Pumpkin will likely never achieve "friend" status. Tolerance is the goal. But Lily is absolutely hard wired to chase anything that runs so my bottom line goal is to get Pumpkin to stand his ground. Definite progress has been made along those lines. In our sessions he has told Lily in no uncertain terms to back off when she gets too close and/or too personal. And I reassure Lily that that would be the 'good dog' thing to do. Lily is working hard to understand why. She knows what I'm trying to get her to do, but she really can't understand why. It's pretty funny to watch. It's her nature to chase and defend her turf, so she may never be able to make the transition. But, we'll give it our best!!

Rava, I feel for you having to steel yourself for a week around drinkers. I know you can do it, but still, I sympathies! I'm grateful that we can keep alcohol out of the picture when we get together with my son and grandkids on Christmas.

Cowboy, that snow looks very daunting. And to beat all today is just day 1 of Winter!

Mul, I remember having a similar conversation with my mother years ago. Because of that I have made a conscious effort to establish friendships with people of all ages. This time of year is very special in so many ways but yet it tends to remind us of the friends and family we miss. I comfort myself by focusing on being grateful for the gift of having had those people and times in my life.

I've been trying to wrap as I go so as not to be overwhelmed. So far so good.

                    Not today.

Wow lot's of snow Cowboy... but 41" Jude? Holy cow!

We just use gift bags now, saves on wasting paper and hassle of wrapping. I am probably the worst present wrapper of all time so it suits me just fine, haha.

Yes, 41 inches is a lot of snow but thankfully it didn't come all at once. Syracuse averages about 130 inches of snow each winter mostly due to lake effect snow. Thank God Mr. J has a tractor with a plow or we would never be able to get out of the driveway!

Volunteer day today and I'm actually looking forward to it. It's great working with like minded people who share the same passion.

We use gift bags as well Mulburry, although there's not nearly as many presents to wrap as there used to be.

It's a good thing that the snow melts away before you get another big dump Jude, what would you do with 11 feet of snow lol.

Good morning Cafe. Gift bags are smart Mul! I use them too whenever I can. Yesterday I went to my daughters to help make Christmas cookies. It was fun but a few testy moments made it not quite the Hallmark event. No booze was involved so that is good. Mr. R told me when he went to visit his grands that our DIL and her mother were cooking and drinking martinis. Thank God I was not there. That would be too easy to fall victim to. I am on of those people that just cant wait for this season to be over. I sound like a grinch but for me it’s always been full of expectations that are never met. I guess I need to up my meds! This too shall pass. Hope everyone has a great and sober day. 24 more please. One day at a time.

Rava, sounds like you dodged a bullet! I got a headache just thinking about martinis!

ABC, does that cat work mess up your grass at all? Seems like, if they weren't careful, they could scratch up your yard.

Jude, that's great you're looking forward to your volunteering job. I'm sure glad you didn't listen to me! I'd have walked away before I ever knew it was a good fit.

Hi Dill and Mul! Its only 3 days til Christmas. This year passed quickly! I'll take another day of freedom with my pals.
