Glad you're home safe and sound Peachie, and a bonus that you get another evening to visit with Emma!

Maybe there weren't many draft horses at the sale Jude? Is it a fairly big auction with lots of horses usually?

Seems strange to hear that you're covering plants already dill, it'll be at least a month before anyone here even thinks about bedding plants or gardening lol. I did notice yesterday that Bubba's tulips are poking up through the ground though where they are up against the house.

Hope you enjoyed your walk with your sister Ginger. I don't recall you ever mentioning having a brother, all girls in your family?

Did you get to your destination safe and sound Rava? How long are you planning on staying to visit?

Those last couple of snowfalls have almost melted away now, just some snow left where it is shadowed and the sun can't get at it. Nice to see grass again!

    Have a peaceful Sunday y'all!

ABC, nope, no brothers. I was as close as he got to having a boy. Lol poor Dad. We lived in an old farmhouse with only one bathroom! Thanks for the stack of pancakes. My favorite!

Peachie, I'm so glad you enjoyed your get away.

Jude, that's a bummer you didn't get to see any draft horses. They are something to see for sure! Next time

Dill, around here they say not to put anything like that out until after Mother's day. I sure get being anxious to start it early though, it ushers in summer!

      Hi ya, Rava!

I'll join you all in another day of freedom!

Good Morning Cafe and Haircutters! So funny that so many of us do this chore. I don’t like it either! I think a barber would do a better job but Mr. R has very little hair so I just do it. He refuses to pay a barber. LOL. Plus I work for free. We had a wonderful visit with the gfs family. They made us dinner in their home. Very interesting people. The mother only speaks spanish so it was a little confusing with all the talking and translating. Overall i am so glad we went. Our son does not speak spanish thankfully his girlfriend does. We are still driving home. Jude, sorry you didnt get to see the draft horses. Glad you had fun tho. Peachie, glad you are home safe and sound. Thanks for the breakfast cowboy. Hope everyone has a great and sober day. 24 more please and thank you.

Cowboy, I've never been to that particular auction but they were supposed to have over 150 horses for sale. The schedule that I had said that tack would be sold first, followed by the drafts, ponies and driving horses. We got there early but all we saw were the driving horses being sold. They must have changed the schedule but there were only a few draft horses in the barns so maybe the auction was more for the driving horses.

We've started some plants inside this year but they won't be going into the garden until late May. Yesterday we had snow with more today, but I think that the ground is too warm for it to accumulate. I'm so ready for Spring!

Peachie, glad that you enjoyed your trip and are safe at home again.

Waves to Dill, Rava, Mul and Ginger.

          24 more please...

Hi Cafe. Planning on writing this early in case I nod off. Yes, my trip was lovely. Spent one morning on the foreshore drinking yummy coffee from a very up scale Cafe. Lots of people around. Mainly tourists and families enjoying the last of the school holidays. Was just nice sitting on the beach. Em's Mum and I lots of good chin wags. I so feel for her losing her husband so recently. She has so not lost her Irish accent, which I love listening to. We are the same age and Em fussed over us both.
Lovely to get a ride home. The train and coach were a bit too much!
Rava, great you had a lovely night at dinner.
Jude, sorry you missed the draft horses.
Cowboy, good luck with the doors.
Ginger, no boys here either and only the one bathroom too.Lol.
Dill, fingers crossed for hubby's plants.

We are due for some rain tonight. Wowza.

            Night night everyone.
            Xxx

Cowboy and Ginger, Mr. D gets his plants out well ahead of the last frost day. Like Ginger mentioned, advice in our area is to plant outdoors no sooner than Mother's Day. Mr. D just can't seem to wait that long. I don't waste my breathe saying it anymore! LOL. I don't help with the gardening very much anymore. Mostly I have just lost interest at this stage in my life in the physical laber. But also, I have little interest in the extra work involved in going against conventional wisdom!

Jude, will there be other horse auctions this this year in your area? How far is it from your home to the Amish area? For us it is 2-3 hours by car.

Rava, Mr. D has been reading the American Mahjongg book I borrowed from the library, and has been watching game play videos online. He sees the major drawback for us is making a foursome. We are not as socialble as you and Mr. R, so that is definitely a hurdle. Not sure if we could overcome that. But I still want to learn the game and will probably buy the inexpensive set and the cards from Amazon. They are both "in my cart" while I ponder.

Peachie, did your excursion give you a nice mental holiday?

Today's another good day not to drink!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Glad your visit went so well Peachie and now to settle into your normal routine. It's nice to travel and visit, but there's no place like home as they say.

Sounds like the May long is the normal for planting gardens and getting the bedding plants out dill. As long as Mr D enjoys it and can keep the plants healthy, early is alright as well.

Our horse sales were about 1/2 that size Jude but also started with tack. There were very few draft horses or driving teams, not much call for them in our area. After the tack they sold unregistered stock, then moved on to the registered horses to close out the sale. It was always exciting to go though just to listen to the auctioneer and watch the prices.

Was just us 4 boys in my family Ginger, kept my mom busy trying to keep track of us all lol. One bathroom wasn't a problem for us though lol. As a matter of fact when it was just my older brother and I we didn't have an indoor bathroom at all!

Glad the visit went well Rava and you got to meet the other parents. I imagine you'll be seeing more of them in the future if your son and his gf move forward with their relationship.

Off to the farm this morning to pick up some material and my laser level as I plan on tackling the door replacement, one tomorrow and the other one on Wednesday. I've done enough of them so I can't see any reason to run into any problems.

                      Not today...

ABC, good luck with the doors but I know you don't need it. I had three boys and two bathrooms but I still made the boys pee outside! We lived on 20 acres of forest land. There was no reason to come in unless there was more serious business to be done.

Dill, maybe planting early makes Mr D feel like winter is over even if it's not. Lol
