5:17am in Alberta, I'll have another 24 please, and thanks..,

In the last 24 hours, these friends have joined in for 24 hours of wellness:
    Jude58 dill Peachie Ginger999

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

Jude, that's good that your doc found that contraindication and has decided to send you to a specialist. I think I like your doctor very much! Hope the infection specialist gets you taken care of and on the mend without the gut upset.

Ginger, my friend has lived in Ohio all her life. It was just her son and his family that relocated back to Ohio to care for her. I don't know what will happen when they return to Oregon, but I am sure she will be somewhere safe and taken care of. Her son is trying his best to get her to downsize...She lives alone in a big house and it's been too much for her for some time now. She loves her home and is loathe to leave it, so he has his work cut out! She's of Scottish descent and stubborn as all get out!

Peachie, Cowboy and Rava, waves to you!

Let's all have another day of freedom!

Good morning Cafe. Jude, I did not know you were not feeling good under the antibiotic. I hope the infectious disease doc gets it all sorted out. I am sorry you are going thru all of this. We are getting ready on Sunday for the drive. I am looking forward to being north but just not the drive. Most off the snowbirds have left our community so its kind of quiet here. A few of us left over people are meeting at the pool at 5 pm to share some snacks. My closest neighbors and friends left last night and they drive 18 hours straight. I begged them to stop and sleep but they are stubborn and will drive the entire way. We will probably drive 10-12 hours the first day and then finish on the next day. It’s definintely a trip from hell. My neighbors feel that leaving and driving all night is safer. For me it’s harder to see. I dont know. Lots of nuts out after midnight. I hope everyone has a great and sober day. 24 more please and thank you.

It's a good thing your Dr caught that Jude, hopefully it didn't mess up your other meds. I'm surprised your pharmacist didn't catch that, mine is always on the watch for conflicting medications. I've never thought I had an accent lol, but yes, I'll do some talking for sure.

It sounds like you're still in Arizona Ginger lol, having to restrict your outside activities to the morning to escape the heat.

That would be a pretty hot day for me Peachie, but if I remember correctly, you get much hotter than that during your summer. Hopefully Zorro stays away for good now. We have a "cat on leash" bylaw here in our town, but no one adheres to it, just with their dogs.

That was nice of your friend's family to move close to her dill, do you know how long it will be for? Hope you had a good visit with her.

How's the packing going Rava, your leave day is coming up pretty soon.

It looks like we had our last below freezing night last night, supposed to warm up and stay that way now. I'm headed out to open the camper up either today or tomorrow so that it's ready and stocked up for the seeding season. Day one of seeding is fast approaching!

          Not today...

Evening all. Soapie just finished so here I am.

Jude our winters are very mild compared to some over in the USA and Canada. We do have a few mountain ranges that get snow but certainly not here in Perth. It is far colder on our Eastern border. It is pretty much a temperate climate here but boy the summers are getting hotter, that's for sure. We have a massive desert between East and West. It certainly is a treat to drive it tho. It's called the Nullabor. In indigenous language that means no trees. Geez I hope your appt goes well today. Contraindications should be an automatic check list. Hope your new medication doesn't cause the same side effects..How does your finger feel?

Cowboy I'm with everyone else re taking part in your seeding operation...love the accent too. Can't wait!

Rava another season comes to an end for you. In Australia we call the people who flee winters, Grey Nomads. There is a constant stream of caravans heading north every year. Our long distance truckies complain about it every year too. Lol

Dill, I feel for your friend not wanting to move from her home. I love the place I live in but very often I miss the home I raised my family in. Ben did too.

Update on Zorro, you all must be getting sick of him, I am. I squirted him with water today and then watched where he went. He turned into a red house down the road. Sooo Im pretty sure I know where he lives now. Tomorrow I will go knock on their door. I know how hard it is to keep cats inside that are not used to it. Goodness, what a dilemma. Guess I'll just keep squirting. Poor Rosie hasn't come out of her favourite spot in the bedroom since she saw him in the garden. This is turning into a bloody Podcast.

The continuing saga of Zorro, the neighborhood pest. Peachie, that's a catchy title for a podcast. You might be on to something! I'm sending good vibes that the neighbors are understanding when you approach them.

ABC, I agree! You have an accent and I love to hear you talk.

Jude, I'm sorry you're still going through the finger infection. Hopefully, the new doctor can find a better antibiotic for your tummy and meds. Years ago, I had MRSA and spent three days in hospital on intravenous Vancomycin. That knocked it out! Hopefully, nothing that drastic is needed for you but if it is recommended, you best do it.

Dill, thanks for explaining your friends situation. It's hard enough for some people to leave their family home but even harder to leave your home state. I'm sure they'll find a great place for her, if they can talk her into it!

Rava, a straight through drive? No way! Those days are long behind us. When we used to do that, it seemed like we were sick a few days once we got home. It's too much for us oldies! I know people still do it but it sure doesn't seem safe.

Hey Mul, hope all is well and your spending Mother's Day with your Mom!

I'll join you all for another day of freedom!

                Good morning cafe!

Dill, I understand about your friend who doesn't want to leave her house. My 103 year old friend and neighbor really shouldn't be alone in her house anymore, and she is bound and determined to die there. It's a frustrating situation as her daughter keeps trying to talk her into living at her house, but she keeps saying no.

Rava, I can understand about dreading the drive up north. Mr.J and I prefer to drive at night for long trips as the traffic is so much easier to deal with.

Cowboy, glad that your weather is improving, it's about time! We are still dealing with lots of rain and high temps in the 50's. Not a very nice spring but at least it's not snowing.

Peachie, the finger is still painful and swollen, but nothing like it was. I was on the nasty antibiotic for10 days and it did start to make the finger feel better. The infectious disease doctor put me on two different antibiotics to see if they can knock out the infection. If this doesn't work I may have to do IV antibiotics for 6 weeks. Praying that isn't the case.

                Waves to Ginger and Mul!

Sure hope the oral antibiotics work Jude, it would be no fun to have IV for 6 weeks! I had an infection in my leg years and years ago that they wanted to hospitalize me for 5 days for IV antibiotics. I told them no way I was laying in a hospital bed just to get antibiotics so they mixed up the prescription into 15 syringes and put a port in my hand and Bubba gave me the shots 3 times a day. That wouldn't work for 6 weeks though.

It seems like it's hard to get any older people out of their homes dill unless it's physically or mentally impossible for them to live on their own. I'm sure I'll feel the same way lol. But on the other hand, I don't want to become a burden on my kids either.

I think it's smart to break the trip up over 2 days Rava. I like driving but even 10 - 12 hours is enough for me.

Waves to the rest of the gang!

I did go out yesterday and get the camper opened up and got everything ready. Just have to take food and clothes out now. Corey texted yesterday afternoon and training on the drill will be this morning. He'll run the outfit for today and tomorrow to get the kinks out and everything set properly and I'll probably do a couple of hours ride along with him today so that I can take over on Saturday.

Good morning Cafe. We are going to be over 90 degrees today so hot, hot, hot. Peachie, I am glad you have some type of plan for Zorro and squirting him with water was a good start! Hope everyone has a good Thursday. Can’t believe our season here is just about coming to an end. Time sure does fly. 24 more for me please and thank you..

Hi everyone. Geez Jude, so sorry for what you're going through at the moment. I really hope the new medication works for you. So sorry you are still in pain too. It can certainly bring you down. Hugs coming your way.

                        Enjoy your day with Corey,
                        Cowboy. Hope you've got sunshine.

Rava, the water treatment seems to be working on Zorro. I chickened out on going to his home today. I think he is getting the message that he's not welcome. Poor darling.

Hey Ginger. Hopefully I'll put that podcast to bed.

                        Night everyone.

I really like the way you think, Peachie. Your compassion for Zorro is so uplifting. He's a pain and yet you still feel bad for the guy. Love that.

Jude, I sure hope these two antibiotics knock the infection out! Good grief, there sure are a lot of resistant strains of infection these days! Sending healing thoughts.

ABC, have fun with that new machine! You're keeping your brain young with all that technology.

Rava, time does fly! I want this summer to slow down. It will be over in a blink of the eye.

Morning Dill! I'll join you all in another day of freedom!

                          Begin rant:
Not sure I've shared this or not. Our well water is contaminated with PFAS from the army training center several miles above us. It comes from fire suppression sprays that were washed into the aquifers for years during clean up. They are supposed to install these elaborate filter systems at all the homes affected by this. There are hundreds of us. They have been working hard to accomplish this but the government moves slowly. This chemical is nasty and long term exposure can be deadly. We've been buying culligan water for years now so we don't drink it or cook with it. Cyrus gets bottled water too. It can cause kidney cancer in small animals. Anyway...I'm tired of waiting for the federal government to get ours done. It already shows up in my blood work. We had culligan give us a bid yesterday to install it for us instead of waiting. The price tag is $13,000. If we wait for the army, who know when we'll get ours. They won't install it inside your home so they build a 10x10 shed first and they decide where that shed goes, not the home owner. Then they only service the system for 5 years. After that you're on your own. In the mean time, they are still using a form of that suppressant spray. Good grief! This is happening all over the country around every army training installation. Dupont and 3M have known about this toxicity since the 40s and did nothings. Once again greed wins and the rest of us tax payers pay for it. Ugh...
                          End rant!

                          Comment

UGH! Ginger I feel for you. What a nightmare!

Just a quick check in for me. I'm getting on late! I left early for my volunteer gig. Got home late because I stayed over a bit to cover the volunteer after me who couldn't get in on time, and then when I got home I was was determined to prune my lilac so I was outside doing yardwork for the afternoon.

24 for all of us here, please and thank you.
