Re: August Army Manoevres
ah god!! but sure isn't it great she doesn't know she's there so long - mum used to be quite funny a lot of the time -- she was flat out in the bed - a heart weakening by the day - wasn't even allowed walk to the loo on her own - and she'd say 'when I'm back driving....' -- sweet really - but she could be well infuriating as well at times!!Originally posted by satz123 View Post

Question...............does time go quicker the older we get? Remember when Christmas felt like a decade from the last one.? Discuss.

Starty sorry you've been feeling ill. Hope the retreat is all you need and more x enjoy and take care x
get totally what you're saying about your Mums death. This might sound terrible but having watched/nursed my own Mum die with cancer, it was easier? Prob. wrong adjective, than watch what Daddy going through now. Any ways it is what it is.
Hope rest of ye are well?
Nighters x

Re: August Army Manoevres
I wonder why that is Sweetie ? Is it that men are more helpless or something ?Originally posted by sweetpea29 View Postget totally what you're saying about your Mums death. They complain less about illness I think so when something goes wrong it seems very wrong - and they are even more helpless?
Or is it 'cos he's alone ? - your Mam had you & him maybe?
My sister's MIL in Scotland died 4 years ago. The husband has literally not left the house & starved himself to death I think, such was his grief. I don't think a woman would do that - maybe I'm wrong - we are much better at coping with what life throws at us ?
Just musings - so DISCUSS .......Last edited by satz123; August 9, 2018, 05:14 PM.

Thats a lot of topics for discussion :egad:
Time absolutely does go quicker, imagine the luxury of being bored! A vague memory from 1982.Originally posted by JackieClaire View PostQuestion...............does time go quicker the older we get? Remember when Christmas felt like a decade from the last one.? Discuss.
No, doesnt usually happen the other way around. Not good to make sweeping generalisations and this is only an observarion, but most women I know 'project manage' the house. I dont mean that men dont pull their weight, of course they do and loads are brilliant at cooking and/or cleaning (except mine), but they are still being managed by the wife. Take that away......Originally posted by satz123 View PostThe husband has literally not left the house & starved himself to death I think, such was his grief. Plus we wimmin are better at talking about shit, apparently.
Dublin marathon SweetPea, Im a bit in awe myself. Not for charity JackieClaire, just a yearn Ive had for years. Took 3 years sober to build up the confidence :happy2:Last edited by IamMary; August 9, 2018, 05:32 PM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: August Army Manoevres
Morning all,
Still feeling a bit away with the fairies but off work today and off to Suffolk later for my retreat. No phone, no ipad and not even a smart watch! Will be interesting to say the least.
I agree totally about wimmin project managing the house/life and men just seem to accept it therefore looking a bit weak in that area. It is probably quite understandable that they fall apart when their project manager departs. For example I am going away so trying to organise cleaning, shopping and chores before I go or do I leave a list or do I just say fuck it and see what happens. I think it will be a combo of doing some myself and leaving a list. Cannot bear the intense irritation I will feel if I come home after the fuck it scenario. And therein lays the problem we cannot just leave things to see where they fall but I think men or at least mine can and he would be quite content. I would be driven crazy with it though
Hi drifty, I am not ready for the cold either and it is feeling just too fresh for my liking today

Re: August Army Manoevres
Errrr what's housework?
I cook.............. he washes up. He cooks ............he washes up.
We both take the dog out..
I pick the garden plants and where they should go and.............. he plants/mows/ cuts back/prunes. He loves gardening so much he does the same at his Ma and Pa's.
Defo back to work next week........even if I have to wear a hazmat suit. Did a wee meeting this morning and I've been missed........so I cried. In fact, I've done a lot of crying recently. I'm like a fecking hormonal teenager and my hormones sailed years ago..............even cried when Ironman overcame the baddies on Saturday night. It could be worse, I could be filing.
