Re: One Step at a Time - February 2019

Quick Check in...early start to work today.
Lizann-most job descriptions do NOT have every task an employee is expected to perform, that's why they say, in fine print, "other tasks as needed." Most employers expect their employees to perform above and beyond what is in their job description, especially if that employee hopes to advance in a company. My best advice for CJ is to say, in a calm, compassionate and non-whiny, non-threatening voice "I have never negotiated/written a union contract. I don't have previous experience in it. Do you have some procedures I could read that might help me?" What she absolutely does NOT want to say is, "that's not in my job description!" Hope this helps.

Gotta run....happy AF Hump Day to all!

Hi Friends
First - Nora I'm so sorry about the fall darling - that sounds awful.

But second - the last few weeks have been crazy for me because I finally submitted my thesis!!!

Hello to the rest of my stepper friends and I'm so sorry I've been neglecting you.

I've been reading back and will try to be a better friend.

Yay Glassie, that is so exciting!!! Happy Wednesday all. Gonna be in the 70s today. If it never got hotter than this that would be ok with me haha...yes discrimination really sucks. I have had problems because of my accent, which is not southern. I have been called a yankee so many times. Told to go back up north by my FIL. What an ass. Have been asked if I eat seal blubber and if my mom lives in an igloo and did I grow up in one and on and on, reeeely comical some of it. Seattle, thats next to Virginia right? In Washington DC hahaha..Liz, that is cute, Logan saying Joe now. My kids loved the mud......Pauly, that is lousy Brady got fired for not speaking Spanish...waves to Nora and Rusty...oh that is Bruno in the pic, he likes to lie on his back...later

Morning friends, great to see you Glassy! Bird,I'd get dumb assumptions cuz I'm Indian (native American) and people assume I live for free, don't hafta pay taxes(I wish) tribe owns a casino(I wish) just stupid stupid stuff and when I tell them I grew up on a reservation they assume a bunch of crap houses with broken down cars in the yard, nope, our rez is tougher than an HOA on yards and house your house is kept, people just assume all kinds of things anyway, Nora, any pain? Just worried about that fall cuz things can pop up later, waves to Liz and Rusty much love and have a happy AF Wed!
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

I'm ok Pauly, thanks. Big bruise on one knee and I'm achy but I'm achy all the time so that might not be because of the fall. I'm such a dork. osteroops:

Guess who handed their debit card to the dentist instead of the credit card I had planned on using. :cuss::cuss:
Boy was I surprised when I looked at my checking balance!
Thank goodness it all worked out.

Re: One Step at a Time - February 2019

Rusty, thanks for the advice, I did pass it on to CJ. She would never say it's not in her job description. But I appreciate your insight!
Glassie, yay the thesis is submitted! I can imagine you're busy, but thanks for popping in and letting us know your ok. I must admit, I was a little worried about you.
Nora, I'm sure you're sore, and now your account is hurting as well! That's a double whammy.
Pauly and Bird, ignorance really is at the root of discrimination. I'm sorry you've had to suffer because of it. Has it ever occurred at work?
Thanks for sharing your stories, much appreciated.
Bird, I'm glad the weather is so warm there. We, sadly are headed for cooler temps. I guess it is February though.
Found out today my SIL is having surgery on Friday to remove her spleen. She lives about 2 hours south and I haven't seen her since August. She called my other SIL and didn't really want to share much more. I think that might be a big deal.
Well I hope everyone has a great AF night!

I've been thinking about Action Girl today. I hope she is doing well. Sending good thoughts your way actiongirl46.

Glassie - so happy to see you. Looking forward to hearing all about what has been going on with you. And HRH and HRH to be.

Pauly - what a pain in the ass about your toilet. Is it all taken care of now?

Rusty - it is nice having you post more. I agree with Pauly. Even just quick ones are welcome. I thought your advice to Liz for CJ about asking for a procedure or something was a good idea.

Bird - our cat Shadow lays on his back like that too. Ha, ha

Really screwed up about the discrimination or stupid assumptions. Really messed up how people can be.

Bird - I meant to ask you how the cravings are today? I've been sending you lots of positive energy.

Liz - x-post. Wow, sorry to hear about your SIL. I hope everything is ok. How is CJ doing today? I am sorry this is happening.
I do think it's so cute that Logan can say Joe now. It has been cold, cold for us here. It gets down in the low 40's during the night.

Well, my temporary crown was really loose so I had to go have that redone. Oh, the joys of having to get crowns done. Liz, you are right - double whammy. Ha, ha

Re: One Step at a Time - February 2019

Hi all,
Gonna be damn near 80 today but then back in the 40s tomorrow. Watched this show last night about this school in Colorado for high schoolers that are feeling like they just don't fit in etc. Anyway they go on this 45 day wilderness thing and come back feeling better. I love shows like that and I really miss Colorado sometimes, I think about it everyday, but I am where I am by my own choice so...walked so much yest my hips hurt. I really want to go on some group hikes that I see advertised but aren't able to walk that far, so I am gonna try to get in better shape......Liz, that doesn't sound good about your SIL. I don't remember what a spleen does, but losing organs is never good. As for the discriminatory talk, most of it happens at work......Pauly, yeah, some people have some strange assumptions about us natives huh?.....Nora, that is too bad about the debit card. I hate getting my teethe worked on. Hope your knee is feeling ok. As for the cravings, they come and go. I feel I am getting better at dealing with them...well of to the farmers market today...later

Pauly - I'm so glad that LB is ok. Cars can be replaced but not her. How awful.
I don't do 40s well either.

Pauly, wow, glad LB is ok. Yeah, we always worry about everything don't we? Hence the drinking, at it was for me. My nephew had an accident last week driving one of the fire department trucks (not the engine). It was icy and a car lost control and slid right into him. Thankfully no injuries. The car was totaled and there was significant damage to the fire department vehicle.
Nora, I am assuming the crown is in the back? My dentist said that is common to happen in the back. What a pain and waste of time.
BIrd, enjoy those temps before they get cold again. I'm glad you found a show you enjoyed. Colorado sounds beautiful, though I've never been.
Rusty, are you close to home this week?
Got my hair cut tonight. She curled it for me and hubby is going on about how much he likes it. I'm keeping it longer these days and it's just time consuming to curl, plus with Logan around, it's near impossible.
Had some thoughts today. Saw a new restaurant when I got my hair cut. For some reason I really wanted that glass of wine with a nice dinner. It was just a thought and it passed quickly.
@actiongirl would love to know how things are with you.
Have a great AF night.
