Staying sober is hard work, but in the end, it's so worth it!

        Who said it's hard work??

Might be easy if a person has decided it's what they want

Thanks for your comments on cirrhosis, Mulburry. I didn't have any answer to that because I heard the story 3rd hand and I didn't get any of the details of her symptoms.

Scot, That decision is the important first step. It's definitely the key. Job well done. But staying sober is like many other things: some days are harder than others, some days are easier than others!

            Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Being a procrastinator, I've always found it's easier not to do things than to do things, so I just tell myself not drinking is super easy: I don't even have to do a a thing, not even lift a finger!

You know, that reminds me of this one so called "addictions speciialist" I went to see who was a total wackjob. I told him my situation and that I was trying to find a way out of it (pretty severe alcohol depedence), and if I could I probably would not be able to drink again. You know what he said "oh you will drink again". I didn't say it but, I was thinking "F you" and it just made me that much more determined to prove him wrong.

Have we wasted all our fine words ?

Don't prove me right in starting to think I'm pissing against the wind with you. As I and others have done with so many & it's getting tiresome.
We're getting fed up of boosting people up for them to just disappear just because they may have had a relapse.

                      Prove me wrong.
Drinking as normal I'm afraid. Least I came back to admit it

I love that you came back. I’m right there with you.

and @satz123, that post cracks me up. I love it.

But by definition, alcoholism is defined by relapse. @Mulburry I wonder if my FU tendencies would have kicked in, at any point, even now, if someone dared me….
                        lolol

I don't think I have alcoholism, just binge drinking or nights out.

I honestly think I'll probably keep drinking until that new gabba alcarelle drink hits the market or if something like cannibis becomes legal in UK and I can take it in a social settings such as a cafe.
I don't smoke but I could eat it.

May only be a few years
