Loving you all for your amazing support, I don't think I've ever experienced such alturistic support before.:thanks:

I'm totally fine now, and intend to make further alterations in my life, like only drinking small glasses of juice which I simply 'down in one'. My initial reaction was; " @@@@ the lot of them, I don't want to socialise with them, my sobriety equals my life" I've mellowed slightly

Off to see my GP on Monday, he will be doing test on my liver etc, because the Antabuse can cause slight damage, but not as much as binge drinking.

Hi dasher i was taking antabuse but had to stop it makes you stink of garlic .
What dose are you taking ?
And how heavy a drinker were you? sorry for all the questions

Hi Bounce

I'm not having the 'garlic stink' side effect..... yet! The dose which I'm taking is 200mg once a day. As to the quantities I was drinking, well on a four day binge, 5 litres of Vodka would not be unusual.... makes me shudder just thinking about it.

Dasher if you are cosidering antabuse long term I thought that you would like to here from my experince.Drinking has always been a nightmarein my life.Presently I am not taking this life saver However I did for over 10years without side effects.My routine was simply to take the pill first thing in the morning while looking into the mirror and reminding myself that I would feel this good at bed time.After a time I rarely thought about drink in fact it nolonger was a ready option.My life wasn"t always perfect but I was in charge/control to make decisions.I hope this helps & good luck.

Hello

Well the topamax didnt work so i took antabuse everyday 200mg this did the trick ,scared me so much i didnt drink . Problem was it made me stink of garlic and freinds at work were commenting .
so ive started taking 500mg onriday night and 500mg on sataday.
Problem is i drank on monday ?? Big mistake ,Bright red , sick under statement , Its now tueday and im drinking again stupid or what .
so it works me if i take it every day .

I thought I'd update on my Antabuse experience in this thread. With Antabuse I am going on 5 weeks completely clean. It has been very easy...alcohol simply isn't an option. To clarify though, I don't feel like I was ever physically addicted to alcohol as many are....it was simply an easy social option that often got out of hand. In fact I have gone to my regular watering holes several times and ordered tea...the bartenders gave me some grief, but otherwise I feel great about it...a huge boost to my self esteem as well as my wallet. I realize that I never needed the liquid courage that alcohol provided...it never got me anywhere because by the time I got the "courage", I was too wasted to be coherant...complete waste of time and money! Anyway, the antabuse was the best thing I have ever done....I am completely reborn. and no hint of the garlic problem. If your problem is more of a habit than a physical addiction I would HIGHLY recommend Antabuse.
