    Antabuse and hygiene products?

    Thanks for all the advice on my previous thread. I took half a pill (Antabuse) an hour ago. Now i'm freaked out about taking a shower and such. Will my shampoo and whatnot really cause a reaction or am I just being silly?

    I'm concerned with shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste and soap.

    Are there any brands you can recommend?

      I took AB a full pill a day for six months and didnt have a problem with anything.

        About the only thing you need to look at is your mouthwash. Some brands have a lot of alcohol. Other than that you should be good to go. Remember it has to enter your body to react with the antabuse.

          Hi Starty,

          I have never had a problem with anything lotions or potions either, I even use perfume, but just on my clothes, not my skin.

          Mouthwash, deff have to be careful with and get an AL-free one. The problem I have had over the last couple of days is finding a cough medicine thats AL-free. I used lurve Night Nurse, but no more as it contains AL, most of the 'good' ones do :H !!

          I even asked the pharmacist for an AL-free one & she sold me one with Ethanol in which is AL! Thank god I double checked!!

          Please dont try to test it, it's apparently not funny! :upset:

              I don't worry about any of the things you have listed. The only time I have had a reaction is when I drank alcohol. Please, let me spare you the details, it was miserable.
              You should be able to do most of the things you did before except for the fact that you must not drink.
